Sister Mary Agnes, 69, was big fan of the Reds
Sister Mary Agnes, 69, liked to spend time in prayer with the Lord, and she was always eager to help her fellow Sisters of Notre Dame.
She was also a huge Cincinnati Reds fan.
"She never found fault with them, no matter how they were losing, " said Sister Rose Paula of her fellow nun, who died Sunday at St. Joseph Heights Convent in Park Hills.
The nuns only go to Reds games when they are given tickets. Many of the sisters, knowing Sister Mary Agnes' interest in the team, would give their tickets to her.
Most of the time, she watched the games on television or listened to them on the radio, like any other fan.
Born Agnes Joan Molique in Ludlow, Sister Mary Agnes entered the convent in 1951. She would have celebrated her golden jubilee, 50 years as a nun, in August.
She taught in the primary grades for schools in the Covington and Lexington dioceses, and in the Archdiocese of Cincinnati. Later, she became principal at St. Mary's School in Alexandria.
She spent her last years in community service at the nuns' provincial house, especially in the sewing room, where nuns repair or alter habits.
She also liked to shop for the older sisters who couldn't get out of the convent, Sister Rose Paula said.
