Sister Mary Rita Hoffman, bookkeeper
Sister Mary Rita Hoffman, 75, a retired bookkeeper for the Good Shepherd Sisters of Fort Thomas who was noted for her kindness and gentleness, died Saturday at Pelletier Hall in Fort Thomas.
"She was a very gentle, loving, kind person, " said Sister Eleise Kramer. "She was very generous with her time and talent. The sisters here are really going to miss her."
Sister Mary Rita worked in several agencies operated by the Good Shepherd Sisters.
"She did arts and crafts with youngsters and took care of supplies so that everybody had what they needed, " said Sister Eleise. "She was available to help or entertain or do whatever was needed. She was a very good sister who really tried to follow the Good Shepherd."
Survivors include sisters Catherine Stoeling and Helen Deem, both of Vincennes, Ind., and brothers Robert Hoffman of Franklin, Ind., and Donald Hoffmann of Indianapolis.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Pelletier Hall, 930 Highland Ave., in Fort Thomas.
Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. today at Pelletier Hall.
Burial will be at St. Stephen cemetery in Fort Thomas.
James W. Brown, 88, formerly of Ryland Heights, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a watchman retired from Cincinnati Bell Telephone Co., and a member of Communications Workers of America.
His wife, Peggy Brown, and sons, James B. Brown and Donald L. Brown, all preceded him in death.
Survivors include his sister, Dorothy Mersch of Walton; six grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Ralph James Chilelli, 55, of California, died Saturday at his home.
He was a crane operator with Carlisle and a member of Local 18 International Union of Operating Engineers, past president of ASSEAOPA and St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring.
Survivors include his wife, Donna Lynn Chilelli; a daughter, Angelina Walters of Cincinnati; sons, Nicholas Chilelli of Mount Orab, Ohio, Scott Chilelli of Warsaw and Bradley Chilelli of Dry Ridge; father, Ralph Chilelli of Cold Spring; brothers, Michael Chilelli of Alexandria, Greg Chilelli of Edgewood, Anthony Chilelli of Cold Spring, Robert Chilelli of Highland Heights, John Giancola of Fort Wright; a sister, Vicky Hensley of Walton; and seven grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cold Spring. Ruth Ann McGarr Hall, 51, of Erlanger, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington.
She was a claims adjuster with Bilz Insurance, Covington.
Survivors include her daughters, Brandy Taylor and Tonya Hall, both of Erlanger; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

George Knuckles, 92, of Edgewood, died Sunday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington.
He was a teacher with the Covington Board of Education, a member of New Testament Baptist Church, Newport and Kentucky Education Association, worked with the Covington YMCA After-School Program and Covington Pupil Personnel, taught at Head Start during the summer, and coached boys' elementary school basketball and softball teams.
Survivors include his wife, Ena Knuckles; a son, Tony Knuckles of Crestview Hills; brothers, Bobby Knuckles of Manchester and Reed Knuckles of Williamsburg; five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

John J. Massey, 63, of Berry, died Saturday, at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. He was a retired employee of Bundy Tubing, a member of the Central Christian Church and a veteran of the Army. A daughter, Kristy Lynn Massey, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughters, Shirl J. Mattox and Goldia M. Massey, both of Harrison County; brothers, Bobby L. Massey of Harrison County, Larry Massey of Falmouth and Randy Massey of Robertson County; sisters, Betty Moore of Bracken County, Helen Kiskaden of Nicholas County and Janet Kiskaden, Linda Partin and Fannie Price, all of Harrison County; and three grandchildren.

Odell McIntosh, 60, of Owenton, died Friday at New Horizons Medical Center, Owenton. He was a self-employed truck driver. His daughters, Kim Hollar and Tammy McIntosh, both preceded him in death.
Survivors include his wife, Faye Shirley McIntosh; sons, Timothy L. McIntosh of London, England, and Tim McIntosh of Northern Kentucky; sisters, Adrianna "Ada" Bennett of Taylor Mill and Loretta Hundley of Florence; six grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at McDonald & New Funeral Home, Main Street, Owenton. Visitation will be from noon until the time of services Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Owenton.

Aurthur "Skip" Smith, 53, of Newport, died Saturday at his home.
He was a bartender for Barbz, Newport, a member of American Legion Post No. 11, Newport, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his sisters, Pat Seiter of Southgate and Betty Sue Smith of Newport; and a brother, Robert W. Smith of Newport.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

William O. Tucker, 87, of Maysville, died Saturday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was a farmer, an employee of January and Wood Co., Maysville, and a member of St. Patrick Church, Maysville. A son, William Gayle Tucker, died in 1974.
Survivors include his wife, Leona Adams Tucker of Maysville; daughters, Carlotta Stitt of Flemingsburg and Phyllis Dixon and Linda Brummer, both of Maysville; and a grandson.

Robert Ulbricht, 73, of Brooksville, Fla., formerly of Fort Thomas, died Friday at Oak Hill Hospital, Brooksville, Fla. He was an employee of American Book, Cincinnati, and distribution manager for Tab Book Co., Blue Ridge Summit, Pa., past president of Fort Thomas Optimist Club, past Optimist International Lt. Governor for Kentucky and West Virginia, member of Newport Elks, Highpoint, Fla., Volunteer Fire Department, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Thelma Ulbricht; a daughter, Kathy McIntosh of Fort Thomas; sons, James Ulbricht of Erlanger, Robert Ulbricht of Newport and Charles Ulbricht and Thomas Ulbricht, both of Fort Thomas; a sister, Grace Ulbricht of Montclair, N.J.; and eight grandchildren.

Gladys Shouse Butt Wagner, 82, of Independence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Lighthouse Missionary Baptist Church, West Chester, Ohio. Her first husband, Lester Butt, died in 1954, and second husband, Edward W. Wagner, died in 1992.
Survivors include her daughter, Jacqueline K. Wagner of Independence; sisters, Lovie Brinkmann of Dillonville, Ohio, Inez Butt of Dayton, Ohio, Mary Klems of Norwood, Ohio, Betty Conley of Xenia, Ohio, and Lucille Towe New Carlisle, Ohio; and brothers, Bob Shouse of Clay City and Joe Shouse and Roy Shouse, both of Beattyville.
