Michael Stalnaker, 59, mechanic for Comair
A quiet man, Michael Gene Stalnaker took time to get to know, but once he made a friend, he kept a friend, his widow said.
The Taylor Mill resident, who died Thursday at age 59 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood, was held in high esteem by his co-workers at Comair.
"They can't say enough about him or do enough for us, " said his wife, Linda Ellis Stalnaker.
Mr. Stalnaker worked as an aircraft mechanic at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. Before that, he spent 13 years in Gary Ind., working for Bethlehem Steel.
He liked to build radio-controlled boats, and he often took them out to run on Lake Michigan, his widow said.
Mr. Stalnaker also had a green thumb. He supplied all his friends with homegrown vegetables, and did the landscape gardening around his house.
He died unexpectedly, of septic shock from an infection.
Survivors include sons, Michael Gene Stalnaker II of Taylor Mill and Christopher Lee Stalnaker of Phoenix; his father, James Scott Stalnaker of Buckhannon, W.Va.; a sister, Linda Loraine Wentz of Lincolnton, N.C.; and brothers, James Scott Stalnaker Jr. of Elkins, W.Va., and Jon Eric Stalnaker of Princeton, W.Va.
No local services are planned. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Burial will be in Reger Chapel Cemetery, Buckhannon. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Medical Center Foundation, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.
Constance Jean Barton, 51, of Dry Ridge, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospital South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.
Surviving are her husband, Luther Barton; sons Norman Ambrose of Cincinnati and Brian Ambrose of Dry Ridge; her father, Robert Hildebrand, of Covington; brothers, Bobby Hildebrand and James Hildebrand, both of Covington, Patrick Hildebrand, Michael Hildebrand and James Smith, all of Cincinnati, Tony Hildebrand of Amelia, Ohio, and Timothy Hildebrand of Columbus; a sister, Roberta Offenbacker of Cincinnati; and two grandchildren.
No services are planned. Cremation will be at Southwest Ohio Crematory, Milford, Ohio. Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger, handled arrangements.
James Beemon, 75, of Boone County, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center, Edgewood.

James Beighle, 85, of Morning View, died Thursday at Northern Kentucky Care & Rehabilitation Center in Highland Heights.

Albert Boettcher, 51, of Covington, died at 1:05 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. He was a self-employed roofer.
Survivors include his wife, Helen Boettcher; sons, Albert Boettcher of Cincinnati, Ronnie Crim, Mike Crim and John Crim, all of Covington; daughters, Christine Fry of Dayton, Ohio, Angaleta Boettcher of Cincinnati and Allicia Boettcher of Covington; brothers, Danny Sayers of Springfield, Ohio, and John Boettcher of Belle Center, Ohio; sisters, Nancy Landfiere of Florence and Joann Hughes of Springfield; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.
Christine L. Constable, 10, of Florence, died at 11:42 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a student at A.M. Yealey Elementary School in Florence.
Survivors include her parents, Vinny L. and Julie A. Selm Constable of Florence; sisters, Susan Frisch and Andrea Frisch, both at home; a brother, Vincent A. Constable, at home; and grandparents, Michael James Selm of Florence, and Larry and Gayle Constable of Deer Park, Ohio.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Florence United Methodist Church. Visitation will be from 8 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Mike Cooper, 29, of Latonia Lakes, died at 4:30 p.m. Monday at his home. He was a laborer with T&T; Construction Co., Covington.
Survivors include parents, Michael David "Davey" and Pauline Brautigan Cooper of Latonia Lakes; brothers, Bryan Cooper, Terry "Boo" Cooper and Timothy Cooper, all of Latonia Lakes; and his grandmother, Lorraine Brautigan of Covington.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at noon Monday. Burial will be in St. John Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Mary Mae Fleeman Elrod, 98, of Foster, died at 12:50 p.m. Thursday at River Valley Nursing Home, Butler. She was a homemaker and a member of cemetery Chapel Christian Church, Foster. Her husband, Graydon Reese Elrod, died in 1986. There are no immediate survivors.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home, Brooksville. Visitation will begin there at 12:30 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Lenoxburg Cemetery, Foster. Memorials are suggested to Lenoxburg Cemetery, 4235 Lenoxburg Foster Road, Foster, Ky. 41043.
Virginia Fillerer, 82, of Covington, died at 10 a.m. Thursday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation Center, Highland Heights. She was a retired factory worker with Bendix Corp. Her husband, Walter Fillerer, died in 1980.
Survivors include a daughter, Sally Moore of Covington; a son, William Gary Kinman of Edgewood; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Floral Hills cemetery Chapel, Taylor Mill. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery. Catchen Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Ronald Joseph Hartig, 37, of Berry, died at 3 a.m. Wednesday at Harrison Memorial Hospital, Cynthiana. He was a carpenter with OKI in Hamilton, Ohio, and a member of Bluegrass Saddle Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Pat Hartig; sons, Joey Hartig, Patrick Hartig, Thomas Hartig and Zachery Hartig, all of Berry; sisters, Sandy Boesch and Donna Hartig, both of Alexandria, and Marcia Reams of Grants Lick; and a brother, Rick Hartig of Alexandria.

Lena A. Martin, 78, of Boone County died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Center, Covington.

Lillian Greenlee McCarthy, 97, of Ludlow, died Tuesday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.
Her husband, Edward McCarthy, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Peggy McCarthy of Covington; sons, Edward McCarthy of Burlington, Lawrence McCarthy of Williamstown and Patrick McCarthy of Hebron; eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Florence E. Pohlman, 86, of Corbin, formerly of Ludlow, is Wednesday at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Corbin. She was a homemaker, a former cashier with the Music Place in Corbin and a former Dolly Madison employee. Her husband, Robert Pohlman, died in 1988. A son, James Riddle, died in 1985. A daughter, Jean Dunaway, died in 1975.
Survivors include a son, David Riddle of Villa Hills; a daughter, Patsy Felts of Corbin; a sister, Virginia McKinney of Bethel, Ohio; 15 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 5 p.m. Sunday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 2 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Thelma M. A. Riehemann, 87, of Fort Wright, died at 4:50 p.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
She was a retired stenographer and a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell, St. Mary's Ladies Society, Lakeside Seniors and 55 Plus Seniors.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.

Parker Wade Six, 4, of Mt. Olivet, died Tuesday at Children's Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was a pre-school student at Deming Pre-School, Mt. Olivet.
Survivors include parents, Ricky and Rhonda Burns of Mt. Olivet; a brother, Cameron Wayne Six; several aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Sardis United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Burial will be in Foster's Chapel Cemetery, Robertson County.
A memorial burial fund has been established at Integra Bank, Mt. Olivet.
