R. Braukman, active in politics, business
Rosamond N. Braukman, 98, of Bellevue, a retired real estate saleswoman who was active in civic and political organizations, died Friday at Woodcrest Care Center in Erlanger.
She ran her own business, was an associate with Northern Kentucky Realty and ran unsuccessfully for state representative in 1963. She served as campaign manager for other candidates for political office.
Mrs. Braukman was president of the Campbell County and Bellvue Democratic women's clubs. In addition to being president of the Navy Mothers Club, she also managed a home, reared three children and helped rear a granddaughter.
A lifelong resident of Bellevue, the city honored her by making her 90th birthday "Rosamond Braukman Day."
"Considering that she was 98 years old, she was very active up until a couple of months ago, " said Mrs. Braukman's son, David Braukman of Villa Hills. "When she was 92 years old, she was still riding roller coasters.
"She was a person who was extremely kind to everyone and who would go out of her way to help anyone who needed help. She also had a great sense of humor."
Mrs. Braukman's husband, John W. Braukman, died in 1992.
Other survivors include a daughter, Dolores Lauren of North Miami Beach, Fla.; a son, John W. Braukman Jr. of Palm Harbor, Fla.; six grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 tonight at Mother of God Church, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 5 p.m. Entombment will be in St. Stephen Mausoleum, Fort Thomas.

Rosella Adkins, 96, of Ludlow, died Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a homemaker and a member of First Baptist Church of Ludlow, the Covington Women's Club and Ludlow Senior Citizens. She was also a former Sunday school teacher. Her husband, Cecil P. Adkins, died in 1974.
Survivors include a niece, Jeannie Gallant of Michigan City, Ind.; and nephews, Irvin Zitt III of Westville, Ind., Lawrence Zitt of Michigan City and Thomas Moore of Demossville.
Services were Sunday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Burial was in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Sharyn L. Baber, 55, of Maysville, died at 5:25 a.m. Saturday at Fleming County Hospital, Flemingsburg. She was a retired supervisor with Trane Manufacturing Co., Lexington, and a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Maysville. She was active with the church's youth groups and other church activities.
Survivors include a son, Rodney Baber of Maysville; a sister, Charlotte Newbrest of Maysville; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bethel Baptist Church, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Mays Lick Cemetery. Palmer Funeral Home, Mays Lick, is handling arrangements.
Loretta Bray, 78, of Alexandria, died Sunday at Baptist Convalescent Center, Newport. She was a founding member of the Association of the Pendleton County Mentally Retarded and Pendleton County Sportsmen Club. Her husband, Ed Bray, died in 1988.
Survivors include a son, Terry Bray of Lexington; a stepson, Eddie Bray of Fairfield, Ohio; daughters, Barbara Mellon of Cincinnati, Karen Heringer of Cold Spring and Debbie Hart of Falmouth; a stepdaughter, Linda Farrell of California; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Peoples Funeral Home, Butler. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. William Callery, 84, of Dayton, died Saturday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a retired machinist with Cincinnati Milacron, a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue and St. Catherine of Siena Seniors in Fort Thomas, and was a Navy veteran.
Survivors include his wife, Rita Mae Callery; a son, Dave Callery of New Orleans; a daughter, Donna Edelman of Cynthiana; a sister, Cecelia Powers of Cincinnati; two grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Sacred Heart Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. David Combs, 68, of Walton, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired carpenter with Lodge & Shipley, Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Rebecca Garnet Combs; sons, James Thomas McFarland and Jeffrey Clint Combs, both of Walton, Stanley W. McFarland of Independence, and David Michael Combs and Robert Allen Combs, both of Florence; sisters, Beulah Burns of Annville, Ruth Claus of Crystal Falls, Mich., and Mary Ann Flippo of Mount Airy, Md.; a brother, Robert Combs of East Bernstadt; and eight grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Wednesday at Combs Family Cemetery, McKee.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton.

Ruth Fryman, 81, of Hebron, died at 7:15 a.m. Saturday at Villaspring Care Center, Erlanger.
Her husband, Everett O. Fryman, died in 1982.
A daughter, Ruth Mary Collett, died in 1994.
Survivors include sons, Bud Fryman of Hebron and Joe Fryman of Newport; 12 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Hebron.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati.
Leona Marie Gibson, 85, of Crittenden, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
She was a homemaker and a member of Carter's Chapel United Methodist Church, Demossville.
Her husband, Charles Everett Gibson, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Charles Daniel Gibson of Grove City, Ohio; a daughter, Marjorie Fay Norris of Walton; five grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Eckler-Hudson Funeral Home, Dry Ridge.
Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Tuesday.

Russell N. Haley, 90, of Dry Ridge, died Saturday at his home.
He was a retired farmer and a member of Mount Moriah Church Christian Church, Butler.
His wife, Anna Mae Haley, died in 1995.
A son, Herbert Nelson Haley, died in 1989.
Survivors include a son, Amos Haley of Dry Ridge; sisters, Margaret Straub of Independence, Geneva Shoemaker of Newport and Anna Mae Gunsaulye of Demossville; brothers, Archie Lawson of Falmouth and Carl Lawson of Covington; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Albert Hammond Jr., 68, of Owenton, died Saturday at Central Baptist Hospital, Lexington.
He was a farmer and an employee of the Bavarian Land Fill Co.
Survivors include his wife, Ethel Hudnall Hammond; sons, Paul Hammond of Berry and Wayne Hammond of Frankfort; daughters, Lydia Smoot, Libby Duvall and Natalie Smith, all of Owenton; his mother, Climme Rice Hammond of Owenton; brothers, J.D. Hammond of Owenton and Johnny Hammond of Ashland; sisters, Mary Frances Swigert and Nellie Mae Smith, both of Owenton; 14 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Helen R. Haunert, 89, of Bellevue, died Saturday at St. Charles Care Center, Covington. She was a computer system analyst with the Internal Revenue Service.

Edna Mae Theiss Herb, 80, of Middletown, Ohio, formerly of Fort Thomas, died at 12:30 p.m. Friday at Garden Manor Retirement Village in Middletown.
She was a homemaker and a retired assembly worker with Wadsworth Watch Case Co., Dayton.
Survivors include her husband, Leroy P. Herb; a daughter, Bonnie Fangman of Lakeside Park; sisters, Rosemary Sticklen and Emma Jane Thomas, both of Fort Thomas; a brother, James Theiss of Fort Thomas; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.

Mike Johnson Sr., 63, of Florence, died at 11:16 a.m. Saturday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
He was a retired Army veteran.

Clouse of Cincinnati; his mother, Mae Rand of Newport; brothers, Robert Johnson of Liberty, Johnny Johnson of Altoona, Pa., and Tommy Johnson of Aurora, Ind.; a sister, Patsy Cardy of Orlando, Fla.; and six grandchildren.

Elenora Miley, 87, of Brooksville, died Saturday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville.
She was a homemaker and a member of Forest Hill Baptist Church, Bracken County.
A son, Fred C. Moore, preceded him in death.
Survivors include her husband, William H. Miley; a son, Harold Miley of Brooksville; daughters, Janice Greene of Falmouth and Beverly Blas of Lexington; nine grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, three step-great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Mamie K. Moore, 94, of Corinth, died at 1:25 p.m. Saturday at Grant Manor Nursing Home, Williamstown.
She was a retired cook with Noble's Truck Stop in Corinth and a former custodian with Corinth Baptist Church. She was a member of Grant County Senior Citizens and Corinth Baptist Church. Her husband, Pleasant Moore, died in 1970.
A daughter, Juanita Nunnelly, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include a daughter, Rosetta Delaney of Corinth; three grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

H.W. "Jack" Perkins, 80, of Carrollton, died Sunday at Green Valley Health and Rehabilitation Center, Carrollton. He was a retired maintenance man with Carroll County Memorial Hospital, worked to the Veterans War memorial at General Butler State Park in Carrollton and was a member of Ghent Baptist Church.
He was a member of Carrollton American Legion Post No. 41 and a veteran of the U.S. Coast Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Frances Perkins; a daughter, Gloria Lindsey of Carroll County; a brother, James Perkins of Carrollton; a sister, Louise Burns of Ghent; and four grandchildren.

Beatrice Hensley Shinkle, 93, of Carrollton, died Saturday at Homestead Nursing Center, New Castle. She was a former medical technician with Central State Hospital in Lakeland.
Her husband, Cecil Kline Shinkle, died in 1966.
A son, Clarence L. Shinkle, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Russell E. Shinkle of Crestwood, Terry W. Shinkle of Hike's Point, Gregory D. Shinkle of Buckner and Gary D. Shinkle of Middletown; three grandchildren and a great-granddaughter.
Services were this morning at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Williamstown.
Burial was in Oak Ridge Cemetery, Williamstown.
