Nettie Wright, 74, owned restaurant
For much of her life, Nettie Kate Hardy Wright struggled with diabetes and other health problems.
But before her health started to decline, the Maysville resident, who died Saturday at 74, raised nine children and helped raise one of her grandchildren.
"She was always active and on the go, full of life, you know, " said her eldest daughter, Nola Jones of Maysville. "You never saw her without a smile on her face."
Mrs. Wright also worked as a cook for various restaurants and bars, including the Dream Bar, the Fourth Street Tavern and Maysville Lunch Room, all in Maysville, the B&J; Truck Stop in Aberdeen, Ohio, and the AAA Club of Cincinnati.
In the early 1970s, she bought the Chuckwagon Restaurant at 14th and Vine in Over-the-Rhine. She sold it after about three years because she started having health problems.
She developed a brain tumor, and suffered a stroke on the operating table. She spent the last 11 years of her life at the Maysville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, where she died.
"It would break your heart to see the shape she was in, " her daughter said. "I look at it this way, she's in a better place."
Mrs. Wright's husband, A.R. Wright, and daughters, Cora Durham Frazier and Norma Morgan preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters Theresa Ellis of North Carolina and Rita Ann Wright of South Carolina; sons, Rick, Mike and Roy Wright all of Cincinnati, Greg Wright of North Carolina; brothers, Claude Hardy of Maysville, William Hardy of Crossville, Tenn. And John Hardy of Brooksville, Ind.; sister, Ona Frances Weaver of Dover, Ky.; 17 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Services begins at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Brell & Son Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will be at 6 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Charleston Bottoms Cemetery, Maysville.
Delores M. Cram, 74, of Independence, died Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church.
Survivors include her husband, Leslie Edward Cram of Independence; sons, Glen Cram of W.Va. and Jack Cram of Erlanger; daughters, Dollie Berkshire of Verona and Maxine Conrad of Philpot; a brother, James Martin of Independence; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
Lillian Crawford, 89, of Alexandria, died Thursday at her residence. She retired from the Shillitos Company, Cincinnati. She was an avid bowler. Her husband, Elwood Crawford, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a sister, Lucille Smith of Winchester, Ohio; nieces and nephews.
Services will begin at noon today at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until time of service today at the funeral home. Burial will be in the Bethel Tate Township Cemetery, Bethel, Ohio.
Robert E. Culver, 75, of Florence, died Saturday at his residence. He was a load agent for American Airlines. He was a veteran and a member of Hebron Lutheran Church, Masonic Lodge, DAV, Scottish Rite, Shriners, American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Survivors include his wife, Carrie A. Culver of Florence; daughter, April Curry of Hebron; brother Bill Culver of Raceland; one grandchild.
Services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Hebron Lutheran Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Wednesday at the church and from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Burial will be in Hebron Lutheran Cemetery.

Wayne Jack Dreyer, 83, of Wake Village, Texas, died Thursday at the Highlands of Fort Thomas. He was a retired Army major. He was a veteran of World War II and the Korean War. He was a member of Evergren Retired Officers Association and a member of the First Baptist Church of Wake Village. His wife, Lula Mae Dreyer, preceded him in death.
Survivors include daughters, Joan Adams of Delton, Michigan and Bonnie Burke of Fort Thomas; sister Audrey Epperson; brother, Kyle Dreyer; five grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Chapelwood Funeral Home, Nash, Texas. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be in Chapelwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Walter Durham, 95, of Villa Hills, formerly of Michigan, died Sunday at Madonna Manor in Villa Hills.
Survivors include a daughter, Donna Durham of Wilder; a son, Robert W. Durham of Haywood, Calif.; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation and services are at the convenience of the family.
Doris I. Ellick, 64, of Villa Hills, died Tuesday at her residence.
She was a teacher at Northern Kentucky Technical & Vocational School in Edgewood. She was a member of Mother of God Church, Covington. She had been a registered nurse at St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Survivors include a son, Ricardo O. Ellick of Ludlow and two grandchildren.
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 12:05 p.m. at Mother of God Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at Linnemann Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. Joseph Church Cemetery, Cincinnati.

Pearl Mae House, 98, of Taylor Mill, died Saturday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation Center, Highland Heights. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church, Latonia. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matt House, and a daughter, Marie Haynes.
Survivors include sons, George Hammons of Taylor Mill and Bill Hammons of White Cloud, Mich.; four grandchildren; and a number of great and great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Evergreen cemetery Chapel, Southgate. No visitation is scheduled. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate.

Meredia Lee Gaunce, 73, of Ludlow, died Saturday at her residence.
She was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Covington. Her husband, Leroy Gaunce, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Cindy Ecton of Ludlow, Donna Bresser of Edgewood and Karen Gaunce of Crescent Springs; a sister, Edna Sisson of Ludlow; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Della B. Curtis Jones, 92, of Latonia, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a member of First Church of God, Latonia. She was preceded in death by daughter, Alvina Bush and a son, Robert Martis.
Survivors include daughters, Pauline Jenkins of Taylor Mill and Joan Saylor of Latonia; a son, John D. Martis of Ryland Heights; 17 grandchildren, 38 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Services will begin at 7 p.m. today at First Church of God, Latonia. Visitation will be from 5 to 6:45 p.m. today at the church. Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.

Russell Eugene Landrum, 74, of Crescent Springs, died Thursday at the Village Care Center, Erlanger.
He was a retired mechanic for Zimmer Motors, Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Wilmyra Landrum of Crescent Springs; a son, Russell Shawn Landrum of Mount Orab, Ohio; daughters, Sylvia Franklin of Conyers, Ga., Pamelia Landrum of Independence, Gloria Head of Keller, Texas and Lisa Cooper of Middlesboro; brothers, Kenneth Landrum of Daytona Beach, Fla. and Gordon "Toke" Landrum of Erlanger; sisters, Margie Mooris of Erlanger and Eilene Murry of Milford, Ohio; 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Donna R. Lunsford, 55, of Covington, died Friday at the Northern Kentucky Rehabilitation Center, Highland Heights.
She was co-owner of Happy Days Tavern.

David E. McGuire, 65, of Florence, died Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a retired machine operator at Ford Motor Company, a member of Bullittsville Christian Church and a member of the Florence Lions Club.
His wife, Dolores June McGuire, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Andy and Keith McGuire both of Florence; daughter, Rita Andres-Silverado of Calif.; a brother, Donald McGuire of Petersburg; a sister, Bert Peters of Harrison, Ohio; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

A1C Robert Nevins "Rob" Scott, 26, of Cold Spring, stationed at Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, N.C., died Friday at St. Luke Hospital East.
He was an airman first class in the Air Force. He was a 1995 graduate of Campbell County High School and a member of First Baptist Church of Highland Heights.
Survivors include his father, Gary Scott of Newport; mother, Willie Scott of Alexandria; sister, Melissa Scott of Orlando, Fla.; and grandfather, Robert L. Scott of Paducah.
