Rose Thompson, prize-winning quilter
Rose Marie Thompson, of Taylor Mill, president of two homemakers clubs and a prize-winning seamstress and quilter, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
She was 81.
She was a member of the Oak Ridge Homemaker Club for more than 40 years and served as president of the group.
She was president of the Kenton County Extension Homemakers organization from 1999 to 2001 and also served as secretary of the group.
Talented in sewing, quilting and crocheting, Mrs. Thompson won more than 200 ribbons, most of them blue, at county and state fairs. She was a superintendent at the Kenton County Fair for more than 20 years.
"She was extremely talented and had a great love for quilting and crocheting, " said her daughter, Tonya Rose Jones of Taylor Mill.
"When she was younger, she was a great seamstress. She made many, many gowns for whole wedding parties all over Northern Kentucky and Cincinnati."
Mrs. Thompson especially enjoyed the camaraderie of the homemakers clubs.
"At the Oak Ridge club, the same group of people that originated it 40 years ago stayed together all those years, " noted Jones. "Plus, they made some new friends over the years. She loved the club a lot."
Jones said that her mother "had a great sense of humor, was a great candy and cookie maker -- the best in the world -- and loved flower gardening and arranging.
"She also especially enjoyed her granddaughter and her great-grandchildren, " Jones said.
Other survivors include her husband of 62 years, William L. Thompson Sr.; a son, William L. Thompson Jr. of Reno, Nev.; a sister, Susan McGurie of Elsmere; a granddaughter and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Covington. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Friday. Burial will be in Floral Hills cemetery in Taylor Mill.

Rosella Adkins, 96, of Ludlow, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Tyler Matthew Bright, 16, of Sanders, died Tuesday in Carroll County Memorial Hospital in Carrollton. He was a junior at Carroll County High School and attended Family Worship Center in Carrollton.
Survivors include his parents, Susan Ball Bright of Sanders and Ronald L. Bright Jr. of Vandalia, Ill.; a sister, Amanda Bright of Carrollton; grandparents, Barbara Davis and Ronald L. Bright Sr. of Carrollton and Doris Ball of Carrollton; and great-grandparents, Jay and Aline Suter of Carrollton.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Family Worship Center. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at the church. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice. Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton, is handling arrangements.
Joella Diffey, 84, of Fort Thomas, died Monday at her home. She was a teacher and dean of girls with Forrest City, Ark., High School and a member of Graham Memorial Presbyterian Church, Forrest City. Her husband, John A. Diffey, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Jo Alexander of Fort Thomas, Susan D. Marlowe of Little Rock, Ark., and Laura D. Mazzawti of Forrest City; a brother, James H. Berry of Lafayette, Calif.; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Theodore C. Henry, 95, of Warsaw, died at 2:45 p.m. Tuesday in Gallatin County Health Care Center, Warsaw. He was a retired foreman and part owner of Warsaw Furniture Factory, and was a member of Warsaw Baptist Church. His wife, Mary Henry, died in 1985.
Survivors include a son, Melvin Henry of Warsaw; a daughter, Dorothy Alcorn of Warsaw; sisters, Georgia Green of Walton and Susie Allen of Louisville; a granddaughter and two great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Memorials are suggested to Warsaw Baptist Church, 106 W. High, Warsaw, Ky. 41095.
Alma B. Hill, 100, of Bracken County, died at 9:30 p.m. Tuesday in Meadowview Hospital, Maysville. She was a retired bookkeeper with Germantown Christian Church. Her husband, Stanley Hill, died in 1967.
Survivors include a son, Darrell Hill of Germantown; two grandsons and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Saturday at Palmer Funeral Home, Germantown. Visitation will begin there at 1 p.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Germantown. Peggy Louise Hundley, 72, of Erlanger, died Wednesday at her home. She was a secretary with Tough Line Containerization, West Chester, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence G. Hundley; sons, Brian D. Hundley of Taylor Mill, Jeffrey G. Hundley of Erlanger and Wesley T. Hundley of Dayton; and two grandchildren.

Albert King, 62, of Morning View, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a manufacturing technician with Ford Motor Co., and a member of United Auto Workers and Goshen, Ohio, Masonic Lodge F&AM.
Survivors include his wife, Betty Etherington King; sons, Jesse Doyle of Milan, Ind., and Joe Doyle of Milford, Ohio; daughters, Tracy Collins of Morning View, Janet Parker of Newnan, Ga., and Pam Caudill of Milford; a brother, Charles King of Columbia, S.C.; a sister, Joyce Black of Pensacola, Fla.; and 10 grandchildren.

Constance B. McKenzie, 46, of Florence, died Monday at her home.
She was a senior financial planner with Interactive Learning Center, Cincinnati, and a member of Southside Baptist Church, Pendleton County.
Survivors include her husband, Rudolph Hartfiel; a son, Donald Andre Bradley of Covington; daughters, Donna Bradley of Park Hills and Alexis McKenzie of Cincinnati; stepsons, Jim Hartfiel of Cincinnati and Mike Hartfiel of Walton; a sister, Paula Buechel of Newport; a brother, Ricky Spicer of Covington; and four grandchildren.

Ruby Jane Mitchell, 91, of Carrollton, died Tuesday at Carroll County Memorial Hospital, Carrollton.
She retired from Clausner Hosiery Mill, Paducah, as a floor manager and a member of Carrollton First Baptist Church, the Browinski Rebekah Lodge No. 60 and the Carroll County Seniors. Her husbands, William T. Reynolds, Emil J. Soucy and William H. Mitchell, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Jerry T. Reynolds of Titusville, Fla.; stepdaughters, Simone Steinmetz of St. Clair, Mo., Marie McLeod of Lake Havasu City, Ariz., and Andrea Haynes of Independence, Mo.; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 6 p.m. Friday at Graham-Dunn Funeral Home, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Ava Cemetery, Ava, Mo. Clinkingbeard Funeral Home, Ava, is handling the burial arrangements.
Virginia Bertha Munroe, 81, of Burlington, died Wednesday in St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.

Richard Anthony Ostenkamp, 63, of Cold Spring, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a retired butcher with Fey's Supermarket in Cincinnati.
Survivors include brothers, Eugene R. Ostenkamp, Frank Ostenkamp and Herb Ostenkamp, all of Cincinnati; sisters, Anne Marie Oney of Cincinnati, Mary Marsh of Cold Spring and Elizabeth Snyder of Richmond, Va.

Donald S. Pflugh, 79, of Erlanger, died at 3:32 p.m. Monday at his home. He was a boiler operator with St. Luke Hospital West, Florence, a member of Ralph Fulton VFW Post No. 6423, Elsmere, and an Army veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
His wife, Mary Elizabeth Pflugh, died in 2001.
Survivors include sons, Roy Pflugh, John Pflugh and Bill Pflugh, all of Erlanger, David Pflugh of Florence, Richard Pflugh of Villa Hills and Robert Pflugh of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; daughters, Vicky Manning and Jackie Masters, both of Williamstown, Tina Pflugh of Erlanger, Pat Hensley of Corinth and Shelly Davis of Jefferson City, Mo.; 20 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Riley Grace Powell, 3 days, daughter of Steven and Joy Powell of Newport, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
Other survivors include sisters, Mercedes Powell and Brittany Powell, both at home; a brother, Cash Powell, at home; and grandparents, Gary and Dawn Chadwick of Amelia, Ohio, and Jim and Betty Powell of Newport.

Yvonne Mouck Rohe, 83, of Covington, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
She was a title clerk with local auto dealerships.
Survivors include a son, Mark Rohe of Covington; a brother, Phillip Wolff of Alexandria; her mother and stepfather, Kate and Otto Wolff; a brother, Alban Wolff; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

He was a mason for the Expert Masonry Company, Mason, Ohio, and a member of the Bricklayers Union No. 18, and Berean Baptist Church, Independence.
