Jerry 'Cotton' Moellman, 74, mechanical expert
Jerry C. "Cotton" Moellman Sr. could fix anything.
With the exception of televisions, which he never felt quite comfortable with, there were no gadgets, machines or appliances Moellman couldn't figure out.
"He could pick anything up on anything, " said his wife, Angie R. Goeke Moellman, who met Jerry on an Island Queen riverboat dance 53 years ago. "He was very mechanically inclined. I don't think a service man ever visited our home."
What started as a hobby for Moellman turned into a career as an electrician with CSX and C&O; railroads. He also became co-owner of Jerry's Repair in Alexandria.

A religious and loving man, Mr. Moellman enjoyed spending free time with his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He also loved the state of Hawaii and visited there several times, his wife said.
Friends and family say Mr. Moellman had a photographic memory and that he remembered personal information as well as business-related items.
Moellman's passed his gift for gadgets along to one of his sons, who eventually left the family business to start their own lawn mower repair business.
"If you treated him right, he would treat you right, " Mrs. Moellman said. "He loved his family very much."
