Rosemary Houp, hard worker
Rosemary Marcum Houp, 80, of Covington, formerly of Florence, a waitress at several of Northern Kentucky's top restaurants for 50 years, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence.
Mrs. Houp worked at the White Horse and the Lookout House, and finished her career at the Drawbridge Inn.
"She loved being a waitress, " said Mrs. Houp's daughter, Vickie Beagle of Burlington. "She had lots of regular customers who would come in and ask for her.
"She was a hard worker who enjoyed serving the public and liked meeting lots of different people. She was very friendly and loved being around people."
Mrs. Houp also enjoyed making crafts, listening to gospel music and playing bingo.
She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Latonia.
"She was a wonderful mother and grandmother, " said Mrs. Beagle. "She truly will be missed by lots of people."
Other survivors include a daughter, Diane Thomas of Independence; sons, Bill Houp of Edgewood and Jerry Houp of Arlington, Texas; a sister, Thelma Hennessey of Fort Mitchell; 19 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Earl B. Houp, in 1991, and by sons Bob Houp in 1976, Mike Houp in 1995 and Rick Houp in 1999.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Connley Brothers Funeral Home in Latonia, with visitation beginning at the funeral home at 9 a.m.
Burial will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger.

Clara L. Meyer Brinkley, 93, of Independence, died Thursday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. She was a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Independence, the Order of the Eastern Star and Swiss Descendants Club in London. Her husband, Irving Brinkley, died in 1982.
Survivors include a daughter, Jean Wilder of Independence; a son, Don R. Brinkley of Independence; a sister, Rosa Jody of Lexington; five grandchildren, six great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will begin there at noon Saturday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Oak Ridge Baptist Church, 6056 Taylor Mill Road, Covington, Ky. 41015.
Anna Marie Campbell, 43, of Burlington, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Tony L. Campbell; three sons, Jeremiah O. Campbell, Jacob Campbell and Jordan Campbell, all of Burlington; her parents, Clarence and Mary Napier of Elsmere; two brothers, Howard Napier of Erlanger and Mark Napier of Florence; and two sisters, Debbie Napier and Teresa Napier, both of Elsmere.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Don Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Lillian C. Earle, 90, of Independence, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.
Hilda Sandfoss Evans, 86, of Fort Thomas, died at 2:17 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker. Her husband, John Evans, died in 1977.
Survivors include a daughter, Roseanne Evans of Fort Thomas; and a sister, Dorothy Saner of Camp Springs.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 9 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas, followed by prayers. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.
Lotus Arlene Holt, 77, of Covington, died at 2:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, George L. Holt; daughters, Georgann Holt and Vicky Holt, both of Covington; three grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be private. Cremation will be at Hillside Chapel, Cincinnati. Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Nettie Ann Hutton, 95, of Phoenix, formerly of Covington, died Monday at Phoenix Mountain Nursing Home. She was a homemaker and a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church, Lakeside Park. Her husband, Marvin Hutton, died in 1967.
Survivors include a daughter, Shirley Mullville of Lampe, Mo.; a brother, Ollie Sanders of Greenville, Ind.; grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
No services are planned. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Immanuel United Methodist Church, 2551 Dixie Highway, Lakeside Park, Ky. 41017. Connley Brothers Funeral Home, Latonia, is handling arrangements.
Carol Ann Jacoby, 59, of Carrollton, died Wednesday at Jewish Hospital, Louisville. She was a former market recorder with the federal government at the Carrollton Tobacco Market and a homemaker, as well as a member of Valley Christian Church, Carrollton.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph S. Jacoby; a daughter, Sandra Jacoby of Carrollton; a son, Darren Jacoby of Carrollton; her parents, Marjory Mae Brown Eastman of Salina, Kan., and Robert Lee Eastman of Salina; a sister, Suzanne Williams of Sikeston, Mo.; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Valley Christian Church, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 tonight at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral home, Carrollton, and from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the church. Burial will be in IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton. Memorials are suggested to American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., West Chester, Ohio 45069.
Frank A. Mitts, 47, of Alpharetta, Ga., formerly of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at his home. He was a self-employed drywall finisher. His wife, Frances Kimbrell Mitts, died in 2000. His mother, Joyce Mitts, died Jan. 26.
Survivors include his father, Estill D. Mitts Sr. of Covington; a brother, Estill D. Mitts Jr. of Los Angeles; and sisters, Betty Stephens of Crittenden and Joyce Carol Burgess of Daytona Beach, Fla.
Graveside services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Hill Crest Cemetery, Dry Ridge. Visitation will be from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Tuesday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden.
Carlos Perrin, 70, of Berry, died today at his home after a long illness.
Woodland Funeral Home in Berry is handling arrangements.
Nancy Elizabeth Smith, 36, of Independence, died Tuesday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. Her husband, David Smith, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, David B. Smith of Augusta; her mother, Peggy Ward of Independence; her father and stepmother, Stephen and Nadine Struve of Florence; a brother, Robert Struve of Florence; and sisters, Mary Hollingsworth of Burlington and Pamela Struve of Dayton.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Mount Zion Cemetery, Augusta.
