Doug Van Meter, loved outdoors
Doug Van Meter always said he wanted to go with a fishing pole in his hand, and his wife will make that wish come true by burying the 41-year-old fisherman and father of four with his favorite rod and reel.
"He's taking one last fishing trip, " Michelle Van Meter said.
Mr. Van Meter, of Florence, died Monday at St. Luke Hospital West in Florence after a massive heart attack.
He was a printer with Activity Publications in Cincinnati for 22 years.
"He was a real outdoorsman.
He loved camping, boating and hiking, but fishing most of all.
He loved to fish, all kinds of fish on all kinds of lakes, " his wife said.
His favorite spot was Dale Hollow Lake on the Tennessee-Kentucky border, she said.
The two married
in 1994, but had known each other since childhood.
Other survivors include parents, Keith and Joan Van Meter of Cold Spring; two sons, Douglas and Kyle Van Meter, both of Florence; two daughters, Laura and Leslie Van Meter, both of Florence; sisters, Tonya Van Meter of Dayton, Ohio, and Debbie Dean of Goshen, Ohio; a stepbrother, David Record of Alexandria; a brother, Todd Van Meter of Syndey, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Alexandria Funeral Home, Alexandria.
Visitation will be from noon to 1 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Spring Grove Cemetery, Cincinnati.
Edgar Bush, 80, of Augusta, died Tuesday at his residence.
He retired from Interlake Steel in Newport.
Survivors include his wife, Willa Mae Brewer Bush of Augusta; sons, Eddie Bush of Springfield, Ohio, and Keith Bush of St. Petersburg, Fla.; daughter, Nina Peterson of St. Petersburg, Fla.; stepsons, James Dunn of Ludlow and Kenneth Brumley of Independence; stepdaughters, Joyce Murphy and Delores Marcus, both of Ludlow; sister, Mary Taulbee of Frankfort; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Moore and Parker Funeral Home in Brooksville.
Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Bracken Memorial Cemetery, Brooksville.
Matt Cole, 59, of Alexandria, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth North Hospice Unit, Covington.
He was a welder and mechanic.
Survivors include his wife, Gibby Cole of Newport; daughters, Callie Sue Lowes of Jacksboro, Tenn., Melissa Aline Cole of Newport; Bonnie Lee Scott of Hamilton, Ohio, Jamie Lynn Wilson of Hamilton, Ohio, Lisa Nicole Wilson of Newport, and Kristine Wilson of Hamilton, Ohio; sons, Matt Jr. Cole II and Edward Wayne Cole, both of Newport; sisters, Arabelle Turner of Erlanger, Viola Eaton of Alexandria, Vernie Cole of Fort Thomas, Vernetta Bartholomew of Bellevue and Loretta Lynn Miller of Fort Thomas; brothers, Ralph Cole of Jackson, Woodrow Cole of Newport, Leon Cole of Alexandria and Darrell Cole of Verona; nine grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at noon Friday at New Testament Baptist Church, Newport.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Friday at the church.

George Samuel Dills, 87, of Kettering, Ohio, formerly of Latonia, died Tuesday at Hospice of Dayton, Ohio.
He was a retired Goodyear salesman and a member of Hilltop Church of Christ.
He was a member of Latonia Lodge 746 F&AM and Indra Consistory Scottish Rite in Covington.
Survivors include his wife, Gladys McClain Dills of Kettering; a son, Robert E. Dills of Ypsilanti, Mich.; a daughter, Sandra Kay Thomas of Kettering; a sister, Helen McClain of Corinth; five grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Visiation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Lodge service will be at 4:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Floral Hills Memorial Gardens, Taylor Mill.
Denny Hildreth May, 47, of Maysville, died Tuesday.
He was an electrical supervisor and a member of the Sardis Assembly of God and the Promise Keepers.
Survivors include a son, Jason May of Aberdeen, Ohio; brothers Phillip Gene May of Orangeburg, Ky., Michael Farren May and Christopher Joseph May, both of Washington, and Mark Stephen May of West Union, Ohio; sisters, Vicki Lynn Barbee of Circleville, Ohio, and Angela Rose Shannon of Mays Lick; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Mays Lick Lighthouse Church.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the church.
Burial will be in Shannon Cemetery.

Rejeania F. Vires, 52, of Ryland Heights, died Dec. 19 at her home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Ernie Vires; a daughter, Tracy Pollitt of Crittenden; a son, Dennis Kuss of Latonia; brothers, Bud Tucker of Cold Spring and Rock Tucker of Somerset; sisters, Neola Lewis of Dover, Tenn., and Retha Goins, Gloria Mae and Clara Tucker, all of Falmouth; and three grandchildren.
Services wil be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Catchen Funeral Home, Covington.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Campbell County.
