Elmer B. Kindoll, loved to make people laugh
When Elmer B. Kindoll was dying, the hospice nurses who cared for him would come and see him on their days off.
"You know, when you come out here, you try to be professional, but with him you could forget it, because he just wanted you to laugh and enjoy it and have fun, " one of them told Mr. Kindoll's son, Robert "Bobby" Kindoll of Independence.
"He loved to make people laugh, " Bobby Kindoll said of his 83-year-old father, who died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit in Covington.
Mr. Kindoll worked for 29 years as superintendent of construction for Extrakamp Construction, until a series of strokes in 1975 and 1976 left him permanently disabled.
He still found the strength to pursue his favorite hobby, fishing for catfish. Until the last six or seven years of his life, he would go to the Ohio River, where he would set up three or four poles and wait for a bite.
Mr. Kindoll, of Independence, was also a lifetime member and former president of the Honey Bee Beagle Club in Crittenden. He competed in and judged field trials of beagles.
He was an Army veteran of World War II.
Other survivors include his wife, Claudia Kindoll of Independence; daughters, Kathy Kleisinger of Elsmere, Helen Brandenburg of Independence and Debbie Thomas of Covington; sons, Roger Kindoll of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Dennis Kindoll of Independence; sisters, Geneva Smith of Miamisburg, Ohio, Velma Taylor of Carrolton and Joy Raisor of Louisville; a brother, Gene Kindoll of Carrolton; 12 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Kathleen Banker, 73, of Hamilton, Ohio, died Saturday at her home. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Robert J. Banker Sr., died in 1988.
Survivors include sons, Robert Banker of Hamilton and David Banker of Newport; daughters, Dottie Banker of Montana, Debbie Essington of California and Juanita Fath of Morrow, Ohio; a brother, Roy Pierce of Dayton; sisters, Juanita Long and Evelyn Grause, both of Newport; eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to Interim Health Care, 3043 Dixie Highway, Edgewood, Ky. 41017.
Hugh Theodore Barr, 86, of Burlington, died Sunday at Villa Spring Health Care Center, Erlanger. He was a former property manager Key Biscayne Condominiums, Florida and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Barr of Florence; a daughter, Dyan Vaughn of Burlington; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Chester R. Brown, 58, of Warsaw, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was an employee at Duro Bag Co., a member of Paint Lick Baptist Church, Warsaw, and a Vietnam War veteran of the Army National Guard.
Survivors include his wife, Diana Barnes Brown; sons, Howard Brown of Warsaw and Michael Brown of Florence; sisters, Patricia Ann Schmitt of Evansville, Ind., and Paula Rene Brown of Florence; and a granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Paint Lick Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 5 to 9 p.m. today at Carlton-Lowder Funeral Home, Warsaw, and from 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the church. Burial will be in Paint Lick Cemetery, Warsaw.
Ruth Holderbach Dattilo, 84, of Highland Heights, died at 10:02 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Jerome S. Dattilo, died in 1988, and a daughter, Judith Ann Sellers, died in 1998.
Survivors include her sons, Jerome Dattilo of Erlanger and James Dattilo of Edgewood; a sister, Anna Mary Bates of Cincinnati; eight grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m.Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Prayers will be at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
David H. Deiterman, 63, of East Walnut Hills, Cincinnati, died at 10:30 a.m. Sunday at his home.
He was founder, owner and operator of Quality Litho Co., Newport, a member of Cathedral Basilica of the Assumption, Covington, and a former member of Campbell County Jaycees and Campbell County Kiwanis Club.
Survivors include his sister, Karen Calico of Dayton, Ohio.

Ryan Christiaan Heck, 23, of Grants Lick, died Monday in an automobile accident.
He worked at Baerlocher Production and was a member of the National Eagle Scout Association and local scout troop No. 75.
Survivors include his his parents, Brenda and Rodney Heck of Grants Lick; a brother Rodney Heck of Grants Lick; his maternal grandmother, Bert Spence of Highland Heights; and paternal grandfather, Rodney Heck Sr. of Cincinnati.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
Jennie M. Irvine, 94, of Covington, died Sunday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia. She was a retired IRS clerk and a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees. Her husband, David Irvine, preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Anita Creamer of Covington, Jeraldine Taylor of Carlisle, Ohio, and Lois Winscher of Florence; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild.

Leo Perkins, 66, of Wyoming, Ohio, died October 24 at Christ Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a teacher and insurance salesman. His wife, Beverly Perkins, preceded him in death.
Survivors include his daughter, Lynne Spencer of Berea; sons, Brad Perkins of Ann Arbor, Mich., and Brian Perkins of Yuma, Ariz.; a sister, Wanda Brinkman of Erlanger; and seven grandchildren.

Lillian Kelly Schweinefuss, 79, of Alexandria, Va., died Sunday at her home. She was a textile research chemist and teacher.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph J. Schweinefuss; a son, Thomas j. Schweinefuss of Alexandria; a daughter, Molly C. Dameron of Charlottesville, Va.; brothers, Charles Kelly, Harry Kelly, Alfred Kelly and Gerald Kelly; sisters, Mary Kelly Fiorini and Ann E. Kelly; and two grandsons.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Mary's Church, Alexandria. Burial will be in St. Mary's Church Cemetery, Alexandria.

Eugene James Staudinger, 69, of Southgate, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired sales representative with Hassco Inc., Cincinnati, and an Army veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include a stepson, David R. Cottrill of Springfield, Mo.; and a brother, Kenneth C. Staudinger of Las Vegas, Nev.

Lois Tolle, 57, of Covington, died at 6:50 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a son, Darren Tolle of Maysville; daughters, Tammy Estes of Newport, Kimberly Tolle of Covington, Marian Curry of Florence and Regina Tolle and Melinda Tolle, both of Cheviot, Ohio; sisters, Deloris Quevedo of Latonia and Mary Lawson of Campton; and seven grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 2 p.m.Thursday in Steel Family Cemetery, Campton.
Earl A. Tuerpe, 74, of Newport, died at 2:05 p.m. Sunday at Batavia Nursing Home, Batavia, Ohio. He was a retired engineer for General Electric, Cincinnati, a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Newport, and the GE Retirees Club, Explorers club of America and a veteran of the Army Air Corps.
Survivors include his brother, Roy Tuerpe of Dayton; and a sister, Eleanor Tuerpe of Batavia, Ohio.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will be form 10 a.m. until the time of services Wednesday at the funeral home.
