Donald Lee Frakes, 78, his family was his life
Donald Lee Frakes, 78, of Florence, a retired production control supervisor at Lunkenheimer known for his devotion to his family, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Covington.
"We have three sons and six grandchildren and Donald's whole life was his family, " said Mr. Frakes' wife of 50 years, Joyce Frakes.
"He just loved to be with his family. The boys all played sports, and he attended all their sporting events. The family was his life, really and truly."
Mr. Frakes served in the U.S. Army in Germany and England during World War II. He was a member of American Legion Post No. 4.
He belonged to the First Church of Christ in Burlington and was a member of the church's Joy Club.
"He was very, very active in church work and enjoyed being with people, " his wife said. "He liked to entertain people at our home."
Other survivors include sons Scott Frakes of Cynthiana, Shawn Frakes and Steven Frakes, both of Florence, and five grandsons and one granddaughter.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. today at Stith Funeral Home, 7500 U.S. 42, Florence.
Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Entombment will be at Forest Lawn Mausoleum in Erlanger.

Thomas Gephardt, Cincinnati Enquirer editor
Thomas Gephardt, who was editor of the Cincinnati Enquirer's editorial page for 32 years, died Monday at Hospice of Cincinnati from complications of lung cancer.
He was 75.
Gephardt was editorial page editor from 1960 until he retired in 1992, and had the title of associate editor the last 20 years.
He was known as "Mr. Whig, " a character he created to convey his conservative viewpoint in a regular Sunday column.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah Gephardt, a son, Andrew; a daughter, Clare; two grandchildren; a sister, Mary Ann Shoemaker; and a brother, Dr. David Gephardt.
Visitation is from 5 to 8 p.m. today and from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday at Miller-Busse & Borgmann Funeral Home, Clifton.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at Old St. Mary's Church, Over-the-Rhine.
Elmer "Pete" Coyle, 80, of Erlanger, died at 8:50 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a retired guard with the Internal Revenue Service in Covington and a member of Crescent Springs Presbyterian Church and Covington Masonic Lodge No. 109 F&AM. His wife, Margie Cuthbert Coyle, died in 1999.
Survivors include daughters, Connie J. Burger and Missy Alvey, both of Erlanger, and Barbara Solomon of Hebron; a son, Ronald Coyle of Edgewood; sisters, Lucille Stolz of Erlanger; brothers, Harold Coyle of Cincinnati and Robert Coyle of Villa Hills; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, 401 E. 20th St., Covington, Ky. 41014.
Claude Allen Funderburk, 91, of Fort Mitchell, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. He was a papercutter with Diamond International in Norwood, Ohio, a member of Immanuel United Methodist Church in Lakeside Park, and an Army veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Hattie Murrell Funderburk; a daughter, Betty Kiser of Richwood; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Wednesday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
Charles R. Gall, 86, of Edgewood, died at 2:35 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired electrical engineer with Welco Industries Inc., Cincinnati, and a member of national engineering fraternities Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu, and a member of Good Faith Lodge F&AM in Erlanger, Indra Consistory and Scottish Rite. A daughter, Cherry Pilgram, died in 1996. A son, Mark Gall, died in 1999.
Survivors include his wife, Ruth K. Gall; four grandchildren and three step-grandchildren.

Geneva Grau, 79, of Las Vegas, formerly of Covington, died at 6:35 a.m. Thursday at Odyssey Health Care Center, Las Vegas. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at St. Stephen cemetery Chapel, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery. Catchen Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Clayton Hall Sr., 88, of Alexandria, died at 1:02 a.m. Monday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. He was a retired steelworker with Newport Steel and a Navy veteran of World War II. His wife, Joyce Watson Hall, died in 1988.
Survivors include sons, Clayton Hall Jr. of Indianapolis and Gary Hall of Cincinnati; a brother, Clyde Hall of Cob Hill; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Thelma Coates Hall, 87, of Vevay, Ind., formerly of Glencoe, died Friday at Swiss Villa Living center in Vevay. She was a former waitress and a homemaker. Her husband, Jarvie Hall, died in 1981.
Survivors include a son, Larry Hall of Glencoe; a sister, Dorothy Northcutt of Stewartsville; two granddaughters and two great-granddaughters.

Linda Sue Henderson, 39, of Newport, died Thursday at Hospice of Blue Ash, Cincinnati. She was a bagger with Kroger Co., Bellevue.
Survivors include daughters, Elizabeth Edwards and Julie Edwards, both of Newport; her mother, Cora Martin of Cincinnati; and a sister, Lisa Williams of Newport.

Evelyn Knight, 54, of Covington, died at 11 p.m. Friday at her home. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Robert Knight; sons, Robert Gross of Covington and Dugan Knight of Morning View; daughters, Evagline Smith of Dayton, Nancy Klette of Cincinnati, Lisa Dragoo of Covington, Michelle Bowling of Jackson and Kathy White of Milford, Ohio; her mother, Maxine Kennedy of Cincinnati; 22 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Ruth Etta Mohnike, 59, of Corinth, died at 3:45 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of United Baptist Church, Rochester, Ohio.
Survivors include her husband, Robert K. Mohnike; daughters, Teresa Hicks and Lisa Tomlin, both of Corinth; a son, Dwayne Mohnike of Corinth; sisters, Kathy Durkin and Gloria West, both of South Lebanon, Ohio; brothers, Johnny Downing of Lebanon, Ohio, Lonnie Francis of Fort Myers, Fla., and Floyd Garner of Hamilton, Ohio; and 12 grandchildren.

Brenda Lee Hutson Moore, 60, of Bromley, died at 9:02 a.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Bromley, and a Ladies Prayer Group there.
Survivors include her husband, Rev. Thomas Moore; a daughter, Amber Lee Pettit of Bromley; four stepsons; two stepdaughters; sisters, Reki Mincey of Owenton, Connie Williams and Gina Clark, both of Newport, and Tina Hutson of Bromley; a brother, Robert Hutson of Villa Hills; 13 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.

Louella Johnson Moorhead, 89, of Brooksville, died Monday at Augusta Health Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Triumph Christian Church, Brooksville. Her husband, Alvah F. Moorhead, died in 1999. A son, Ronald E. Moorhead, and a daughter, Minnie Lois Stewart, both preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Robert A. Moorhead of Brooksville and Thomas Franklin Moorhead of Germantown; daughters, Wilma Jean Williams of Falmouth and Bertha Jones of Brooksville; a brother, Clarence Johnson of Wilder; 21 grandchildren and 32 great-grandchildren.

Agnes Clarenda Moran, 93, of Maysville, died at 7:55 a.m. Monday at Maysville Extended Care Center. Her husband, James Ezra Moran, died in 1971.

Walter Edward Owens, 77, of Florence, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He attended Hebron Lutheran Church.
Survivors include his wife, Marion Louise Owens; a daughter, Sheila Diane Dipaola of Florence; a son, Gary Walter Owens of Florence; a sister, Dorothy Sabatino of Astonio, N.C.; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Howard William Ross, 76, of Fort Thomas, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. He was a yardman with Interlake Steel, Wilder, a Coast Guard veteran of World War II and an Air Force veteran of the Korean War.
Survivors include a sister, Naida Rice of Covington; nieces and nephews.

Anna Mae Cappell Schnell, 91, of Bellevue, died Saturday at her daughter's home.
She was a homemaker and a member of Sacred Heart Church in Bellevue, Christian Mothers of Sacred Heart, The Point and the Northern Kentucky Guild. Her husband, Gilbert C. Schnell, preceded her in death.
