Urban Osterhage, printer for Post
Urban J. Osterhage, a printer with The Cincinnati Post and Times-Star for 33 years, died at 5:25 p.m. Thursday at Florence Park Care Center.
He was 91.
Mr. Osterhage started working with the Cincinnati Times-Star in 1941, but left to fight in World War II, in which he drove landing craft for the Army in the Philippine.
After the war, he returned to his job at the paper and married
Dorothy E. Bushelman.
They bought a house in Park Hills, where they raised their children and enjoyed their grandchildren.
Mr. Osterhage's career started in the days of linotypes and hand-set type and spanned computer technology.
He retired in 1974.
"He was committed to his family and his work, " said his son, John Osterhage of Taylor Mill. "We grew up with only one car. He got us to every game, he was there for whatever we needed. He had a sense of obligation that he passed on to his children.
"He loved his country and he was proud to be a veteran."
Mr. Osterhage was an avid bowler, golfer and baseball player. "He had a hole in one and a 300 game, " said his son.
During his retirement he golfed almost daily at the Devou Park Golf Course.
He moved to Florence Park Care Center after a stroke seven years ago.
His wife died in 1993 and a daughter, Christine Osterhage, died in 1950.
Surviving besides his son are daughters, Dorothy A. Osterhage of Fort Mitchell, Catherine O. Tibbs of Pickerington, Ohio, and Lois M. Boaz of Florence; another son, Lawrence E. Osterhage of Louisville; a sister, Mary Louise Osterhage of Bellevue; and 13 grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Agnes Church, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.

Garylee Beach, 50, of Dunedin, Fla., formerly of Ludlow, died Thursday at Mease Hospital, Dunedin.
He was a maintenance man for Goodwill Inc.
Survivors include his stepmother, Christina Beach of Phoenix City, Ala.; brothers, John Davis of Cincinnati, Dennis Beach of Dunedin and Walter Beach of Phoenix City; and sisters, Elizabeth Davis of Newport, Theresa Rose Brotherton of Mount Healthy, Ohio, and Tammy Jo Daley, Emma Kay Messer and Dolly Netherland, all of Cincinnati.
Services will be at noon Monday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Cincinnati.
Ruby A. Craddock, 81, of Union, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a retired assistant manager with W.T. Grant Department Store and a member of Union Baptist Church. Her husband, Robert E. Craddock, died in 1995.
Survivors include sons, Wayne Craddock of Walton and Philip Craddock and David Craddock, both of Union; a brother, Wilfred Gruelle of Hillsboro, Ohio; eight grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Monday at Union Baptist Church. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery, Union.

Carl G. Garbett, 78, of Bromley, died at 3 a.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was the retired owner of Ohio-Kentucky Egg Co., Cincinnati, and a member of Immanuel United Church of Christ, Bromley.
Survivors include his wife, Helen H. Schoultheis Garbett; daughters, Marilyn Hartman of Ludlow and Carol Caddell of Bromley; sons, Thomas Garbett of Plano, Texas, and Jerry Garbett of Burlington; a brother, Albert Garbett of Cincinnati; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Greendale Cemetery, Osgood, Ind.

Lena Lenox Glascock, 94, of Cynthiana, died Thursday at Edgemont Manor Nursing and Convalescent Home, Cynthiana.
She was a homemaker and a member of Bedford Acres Christian Church. Her husband, Alonzo Newman Glascock, a grandson, Mark Glascock, and a granddaughter, Angela Morgan, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Norvel Glascock of Harrison County; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.
Cecilia V. Kaiser, 91, of Fort Thomas, died at 2:10 a.m. Friday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation Center, Highland Heights.
She was a homemaker and a member of St. Ann's Auxiliary Knights of St. John. Her husband, Virgil Kaiser, died in 1983.
Survivors include a daughter, June Leon of Fort Thomas; a son, Virgil Kaiser of Wichita, Kan.; six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at St. Therese Church, Southgate. Visitation will be from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.
Clifford B. Knapp, 83 of Cold Spring, died Thursday at his home.
He was a retired electrical contractor and the former owner of Knapp Electric; a member of St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring, and the Holy Name Society and St. Joseph's Seniors there; Past Grand Knight of Fr. DeJaco Council-Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus; a lifetime member of Disabled American Veterans; past president of Bob White Club; a member of the League of Kentucky Sportsman; past president of Alexandria Lions Club; member of Good Sam Angel's & TR 5's; and an Air Force veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Edna Goetz Knapp; daughters, Mary Jane Moore of Bright, Ind., and Beverly Hartig of California; sons, Raymond Knapp of Melbourne, William Knapp of Berlin, Md., and Charles Knapp of California; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

John Paul Koors, 20, of Crittenden, died at 8:25 p.m. Oct. 5 at University Hospital, Cincinnati.
He was a construction worker.
Survivors include his parents, Marilyn and Robert "Buddy" Koors of Crittenden; a brother, Robert W. Koors Jr. of Crittenden; a sister, Genna Harris of Fort Wright; and maternal grandmother, Rosemary Meyer of Covington.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday in St. Mary Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will be from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill.
Mildred "Mickey" Coubert Loman, 63, of Latonia Lakes, died at 8 p.m. Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a sewing machine operator for Anchor Co., Erlanger, and a member of Women of the Loyal Order of the Moose, Covington Lodge, Taylor Mill.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Loman; daughters, Tine M. Craven of Walton, Robin F. Riddell of Cincinnati, and Belinda J. Eckerle of Independence; a son, Jamie Loman of Owenton; a stepdaughter, Susan Campbell of Erlanger; brothers, Alfred Coubert, Roy Coubert and Eugene Coubert, all of Frankfort; a sister, Thelma Loman of Covington; 10 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will from noon until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Ellen Elizabeth McCormick, 77, of Fort Thomas, died at 1:15 a.m. Wednesday at Dupree Health Center, Cincinnati.
She was homemaker. Her daughter, Nancy McCormick, preceded her in death.
Survivors include her husband, Harry E. McCormick; sons, John M. McCormick and James L. McCormick, both of Cincinnati; a brother, Michael J. Connelly of Cincinnati; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 7 p.m. Monday at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, Kenwood, Ohio. Visitation will be from 4:30 p.m. until the time of services Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.

Paul J. Scherder, 82, of Edgewood, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
He was a retired machinist for Powell Valve, Cincinnati.
Survivors include two brothers.

Marshall D. Webster Sr., 60 of Fairfield, Ohio, died Wednesday at Fort Hamilton-Hughes Hospital, Hamilton, Ohio.
He was a retired truck driver for Overbay Trucking. His wife, Jacqueline Webster, preceded him in death.
Survivors include sons, Christopher B. Webster, Douglas S. Webster and Marshall D. Webster Jr., all of Covington; a daughter, Sharla Webster of Newport; and three grandchildren.

Mae Marie Zimmerer, 90, of Villa Hills, formerly of Louisville, died Wednesday at Madonna Manor, Villa Hills.
She was a homemaker and former leader of Recovery Inc. and a former member of St. Leonard Catholic Church, Louisville. Her husband, Eugene A. Zimmerer, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a son, Gerald E. Zimmerer of Independence; four grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
