Richard Grone, 76, was content living quiet life
Richard Grone lived the quiet life of a retired bachelor, and seemed to like it that way.
"We used to say, 'Rich, why don't you do this, or why don't you go here?' " said his sister, Ethel Schoettker. Her brother would simply reply, "No, I don't think so."
Mr. Grone, who died Monday at age 76 at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood, worked with his brother, the late Arthur Grone, in the Tressel Co. in Cincinnati, a metalworking business their father had started.
They did repair work on "all kinds of fancy stuff, " including pieces for the Cincinnati Art Museum, said Mr. Grone's brother-in-law, Larry Schoettker.
"He was quite an artist, " Mr. Schoettker said.
Mr. Grone's major interest, and his brother's, was their work. Neither man ever married, or joined many organizations. Mr. Grone lived nearly all his life in the Fort Mitchell house where he was born.
"He was just content to live his life very quietly, " his sister said. "It wouldn't be a life for me, let's put it that way, nor for most people."
Mr. Grone didn't talk much, which may explain why he did have many friends, Schoettker said.
"They talked, and he listened, " he said.
Mr. Grone was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church in Fort Mitchell and a Army Air Corps veteran of World War II. Survivors besides his sister include nieces and nephews.
