Mildred Bendel, 83, nurse and volunteer
Mildred M. Bendel, 83, of Lakeside Park, who worked 50 years as a registered nurse, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
Mrs. Bendel began her nursing career in 1940 and retired in 1990.
She worked 13 years at Boothe Hospital and 37 years at Holmes Hospital. She was a nursing supervisor her last few years at Holmes.
Mrs. Bendel also was a life-long volunteer at Shriner's Burn Institute in Cincinnati.
"She just loved helping people, " said Mrs. Bendel's husband of 60 years, Harold E. Bendel. "Everybody liked her, and she liked everybody."
Her hobby was crocheting. She especially enjoyed making afghans.
Other survivors include a son, David E. Bendel of Lakeside Park, and three grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday at the Stith Funeral Home in Florence.
Funeral services will be there at 1 p.m. Friday.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Erlanger.

Shirley F. Alley, 75, of Cincinnati, formerly of Cold Spring, died Monday at Good Samaritan Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a retired manager with Ontario's Department Store, Newport, and a member of the Retail Clerks Union. Her husband, John F. Alley Sr., died in 1999. A daughter, Donna Bridewell, died March 21.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan Dowd; sons, Darren Alley of Alexandria and John F. Alley Jr. of Cold Spring; a brother, Howard Dicks of San Antonio; a sister, Estelle Harmon of Cincinnati; 13 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Memorial Mass of Christian burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at Our Lady of Visitation, Bridgetown, Ohio. Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati is handling arrangements. Memorials are suggested to American Cancer Society, 6612 Dixie Highway, Suite 2A, Florence, Ky. 41042.
Roberta Caudill, 67, of Alexandria, died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired cafeteria worker at St. Luke Hospital East.
Survivors include her sons, Greg Caudill and Rick Caudill, both of Alexandria; a daughter, May Helton of Covington; and four grandsons.
Services will be at 8 p.m. Thursday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the time of services Thursday at the funeral home. Memorials are suggested to Summit Church of Christ, 6015 Alexandria Pike, Cold Spring, Ky. 41076.
Clifford Creech, 73, of Cynthiana, died Sunday at his home.
Arrangements are pending at Woodhead Funeral Home, Berry.
Florence Fox Darnell, 86, of Fort Thomas, died Monday at Highlands of Fort Thomas nursing home. She was a former saleswoman at Dalton's in Newport. Her husband, King Darnell, died in 1981. A son, Bob Fox, died in 1998.
Survivors include five grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Thursday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to the charity of the donor's choice.
June Horton Hall, 77, of Falmouth, died Tuesday at her home. She was a homemaker and a member of Turner Ridge Baptist Church, Pendleton County.
Survivors include her husband, Ayrus C. Acie Hall; a daughter, Vicki Hyatt of Falmouth; a son, Alan C. Hall of Falmouth; three grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth. Georgia M. Hamilton, 76, of Latonia, died at 6 a.m. Tuesday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.
Survivors include a son, Robert Hamilton of Covington; daughters, Frances Vallandingham of Fort Wright, Darlene Simpson of Falmouth and Becky Oliver of Latonia; a sister, Louise Reynolds of Covington; four grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Riverview Cemetery, Falmouth. Catchen Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Bernice L. Hoskins Hicks, 68, of Cynthiana, died at 6:50 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker. A daughter, Carol Cliff, died in 1986, and a son, James Hicks, died in 2000.
Survivors include daughters, Connie Hurtt and Darlene McCarthy, both of Florence, Sandy Bowling of Piner, Mary Jo Trimpe of Cynthiana and Tin Brodeur of Gallion, Ohio; sons, Carlos Hicks of Highland Heights, Bobby Hicks and Ralph Hicks, both of Cynthiana; a sister, Thelma Smith of Clay County; 21 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Saturday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Willington Cemetery, Piner.
Helen E. Kroger, 94, of Fort Mitchell, died Friday at Woodcrest Manor, Elsmere. She was a secretary with Frank Tea and Spice, and was a member of Blessed Sacrament Church, where she assisted the librarian. She also helped with the Mercy Hospital Guild.
Survivors include nephews, Paul E. Kroger of Union, J. Stephen Kroger of Longmont, Colo., Alan Bosch of Washington, D.C.; and nieces, Caryl Niehaus of Napa, Calif., and Besti Reynolds of Florida.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:15 a.m. Saturday at Blessed Sacrament Church, Fort Mitchell. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Rose Martz, 83, of Campbell County, died Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Rose Warner of Cold Spring; sons, Walt Daniel of St. Augustine, Fla., and Jim Daniel of California; 12 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Oakland Cemetery, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick.
Dr. Paul Mitchell, 79, of Maysville, died at 6:50 p.m. Saturday at Meadowview Regional Medical Center, Maysville. He was a veterinarian, owner of Jus Like Home Coin Laundry and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Rose Mitchell; sons, Dr. Shawn A. Mitchell of Versailles and Mark P. Mitchell of Maysville; a sister, Martha Huffman of Cincinnati; a brother, Eugene Mitchell of Maysville; and two step-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial was this morning at St. Patrick Church, Maysville. Burial was in St. Patrick Cemetery, Maysville. Brell Funeral Home, Maysville, handled arrangements.
Alberta Morgan, 97, of Maysville, died at 7:35 a.m. Tuesday at Maysville Extended Care Center. She was a homemaker and a member of Moransburg Christian Church. Her husband, Harold Morgan, preceded her in death.
Survivors include a sister, Virginia Condon of Maysville; nieces and nephews.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Brell Funeral Home, Maysville. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Maysville Cemetery.
Virgil Rarrieck, 66, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.
Lisa Colleen Stone Roberts, 38, of Elsmere, died at 1 p.m. Monday at University Hospital, Cincinnati, of injuries suffered in an auto accident. She was an employee of McDonald's at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport.
Survivors include her husband, Fulton Roberts; sons, Michael Stone of Florence and David Stone of Morning View; daughters, Amy Roberts of Elsmere and Whitney Roberts of Burlington; her father and stepmother, Ronald and Catherine Stone of Bunnell, Fla.; her mother, Sue Delph of Elsmere; a brother, Ronald Stone Jr. of Elsmere; and a stepsister, Diane Hammons of Bunnell.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere.
Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday.
Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.
Drucilla "Pat" Ross, 69, of Newport, died Tuesday at the her daughter's home in Alexandria. She was a finisher for the Plastic Molding Co., Cincinnati. Her son, David Wilson Burgin, preceded her in death.
Survivors incluude her daughters, Rita Mae Clark of Shelbyville, Joyce Ellen Hickey of Cold Spring, Jackie Sue Vickers of Alexandria, Patricia Dianne Sheppard of Demossville and Robin Ann Lucas of Walton; sons, Gary Lee Newman of Newport and Michael Wayne Ross of Newport; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Cooper Funeral Home, Grants Lick.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Peach Grove Cemetery.
Terry Lee Sallee II, 32, of Walton, died Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
