William Klingenberg, hardware store owner
William C. Klingenberg was a man who loved his family and his family business, said his widow, Mary Klingenberg.
Mr. Klingenberg, 79, of Wilder, died at midnight Monday at Carmel Manor, Fort Thomas.
His father, Carl, started Klingenberg Hardware in Fort Thomas as World War II was ending. When Mr. Klingenberg returned home from serving in the Army, he went to work with his father.
It was a time for building. Mr. Klingenberg's uncles started hardware stores in Dayton, Erlanger, Latonia and Covington.
It was a good business for many years, Mary Klingenberg said, until Wal-Mart and the huge hardware stores like Lowe's started up.
"We brought four boys up off that store, " she said.
Other survivors include sons, David Klingenberg and Jim Klingenberg, both of Fort Thomas, Tom Klingenberg of Cincinnati and Bill Klingenberg of Boykins, Va.; a sister, Mary Ann Leitle of Fort Thomas; and six grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Friday at Carmel Manor Chapel, Fort Thomas. Memorials are suggested to Carmel Manor, 100 Carmel Manor Drive, Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075. Catchen Funeral Home, Covington, is handling arrangements.
Michael S. Argo, 29, of Covington, died Saturday at his home. He was an assembly line worker with Redken Laboratories, Florence, and a member of Holy Cross Church in Latonia, Latonia Lodge No. 746 F&AM and Indra Consistory Scottish Rite.
Survivors include his wife, Lori A. Argo; a daughter, Michaela Michelle Argo of Covington; his parents, John Thomas Argo of Walton and Aileen Argo of Covington; and grandmother, Millie Argo of Florence.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Taylor Mill. Visitation will begin there at noon Wednesday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.
Ruth P. Beil, 77, of Villa Hills, died at 10:30 p.m. Sunday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker and a member of Pleasant View Baptist Church, Bromley. Her husband, Carlton F. Beil, died in 1987. A son, Estel C. Wilder Jr., and a stepdaughter, Shirley Walton, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include daughters, Ruby Martin of Erlanger, Beverly Montoure of Shawano, Wis., Barbara Rodriguez of Hurst, Texas, Patricia L. Cook of Newport and Cynthia Wilder of Villa Hills; a stepson, George C. Beil of Jeffersonville, Ind.; brothers, Joseph Tackett of Cincinnati and Donald Tackett of Covington; sisters, Thelma Marksberry of Independence, Betty Tackett and Flo May Tackett, both of Lake City, Fla.; 25 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell. Memorials are suggested to Pleasant View Baptist Church, 240 Pike St., Bromley, Ky. 41016.
Grace Berry, 78, of Latonia, died at 1:13 p.m .Tuesday.
Arrangements are pending at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia.
Shirley Ann Bishop Spisok, 69, of Loveland, Ohio, died Monday at Tri-County Extended Care Facility in Fairfield, Ohio. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Joseph J. Spisok Sr., died in 1972.
Survivors include daughters, Sandra Rogers of Walton, Debbie Fleming of Jupiter, Fla., and Patricia Spisok-Spicer of Alexandria; a son, Joseph James Spisok Jr. of Walton; sisters, Carol J. Shepard of Springfield, Ohio, and Marilyn Boyer of Clearwater, Fla.; a brother, William Bishop of Tampa, Fla.; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Services were this morning at Main Street Baptist Church, Alexandria. Burial was in Union Cemetery, Loveland. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association, 8899 Brookside Ave., Suite 102, West Chester, Ohio 45069. Alexandria Funeral Home handled arrangements.
Ruthie Nell Chenault, 81, of Covington, died at 11:36 a.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a retired waitress at LaRosa restaurant in Miami Beach, Fla.
Survivors include a brother, Robert L. Chenault of Covington; and sisters, Daisy Ziegler of Fort Thomas and Marie Kinman of Covington.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Highland Cemetery, Fort Mitchell.
Jason Patrick Duggins, 26, of Covington, died at 6 a.m. Monday at his home. He was a real estate developer, a member of Sherman Baptist Church, a member of the Army National Guard and an Army veteran.
Survivors include his parents, Pat and Becky Duggins of Dry Ridge; a brother, Daniel Duggins of Covington; and a sister, Rachael Duggins of Cincinnati.
Services will be at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Elliston-Stanley Funeral Home, Crittenden. Visitation will begin there at 4 p.m. Thursday.
Irene Pennington Freeman, 79, of Latonia, died at 8 a.m. Tuesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include daughters, Berisa Lewis of Covington and Patricia Wagers of Erlanger; sons, James Pennington and Rae Pennington, both of Covington, and Gary Pennington of Hartford City, Ind.; 13 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and four great great grandchildren.
Services will be at noon Thursday at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Thursday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
William E. Fuoss, 47, of Owenton, died at 4 p.m. Sunday at his home. He was a field services engineer with Krauss Maffei Corp., Florence, and a member of El Bethel Christian Church in Owenton. He was a member of the Christian Motorcycle Association, Kentucky Motorcycle Association and Kentucky Bikers Association.
Survivors include his wife, Deborah G. Fuoss; daughters, Amy Marie Fuoss of Glendale Heights, Ill., and Betsy Wilson McKinney of Erlanger; sons, W. Michael Fuoss of Crete, Ill., Jim E. Fuoss of Sauk Village, Ill., Bo Wilson of Jeffersonville, Ind., and Seth Wilson of Owenton; eight brothers and sisters; and two grandchildren.

Donald R. Goodrich, 67, of Sparta, died Sunday at his home. He was a retired registered nurse and a farmer.
Survivors include a son, Robert A. Goodrich of Phoenix; a daughter, Donna R. Stamper of Sparta; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Donald A. Knipper, 75, of Covington, died at 4:28 a.m. Sunday at St. Mary Medical Center in Knoxville, Tenn. He was a retired partner with Nichols, Rogers and Knipper Insurance Co., a member of St. Augustine Church in Covington, Holy Family Church in Seymour, Tenn., and St. Ignatius Church in Dayton, Ohio. He was a member of Kolping Society, Order of St. Sharbel and a Navy veteran of World War II and the Korean War.
Survivors include his wife, Margie Knipper; a son, Tom Knipper of Loveland, Ohio; daughters, Victoria Hughes of Falls Church, Va., Donna Smith of New Paris, Ohio, Debbie Wait of Cincinnati, Peg Hayes of Painesville, Ohio, Barb Stevens of Bloomfield Hills, Mich., and Jo Gath of Indianapolis; a brother, Leo Knipper of Crestview Hills; a sister, Sister Gertrude Ann Knipper of Cincinnati; and 23 grandchildren.

Etta Patricia Mayhew, 79, of Bellevue, died Saturday at Woodland Country Manor, Somerville, Ohio. She was a homemaker and a member of St. John United Church of Christ, Newport.
Survivors include a daughter, Marlene Knecht of Ohio; and sister, Alice Hankla of Cape Coral, Fla., and Mary Tulliam of Stanford.

Carl Robert McGough, 66, of Florence, died Friday at his home. He was a production manager with Robert J. Paul Corp., Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Diana McGough; a son, Daryl Brumback of Independence; and three grandchildren.

Sandra Jo Wells, 59, of Falmouth, died Monday at her home. She was owner of Wells Open Air Market and Wells Food Market and Sporting Goods, a member of the Pendleton County Fiscal Court and a director of the Kincaid Lake State Park Board Association. She was a member of the board of directors of Quail Unlimited, Falmouth Methodist Church and the Pendleton County Democratic Party executive committee and Democratic Party women's auxiliary. She helped start the Falmouth Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. Her husband, Joey Wells, died in 1998.
Survivors include sons, Dana Wells of Butler and Stacey Wells of Falmouth; her mother, Fern Martin of Falmouth; grandmother, Mabel Cummins of Butler; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 tonight at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery, Falmouth.
Samuel J. Taylor, 78, of Ludlow, formerly of Highland Heights, died at 5:05 p.m. Monday at his home.
He was a retired tow motor operator with George Wiedemann Brewing Co., Newport, and a self-employed upholsterer.
He was a former member of Highland Heights city council, was member of Newport Elks and Knights of Columbus, and was a past president of the Campbell County Lions Club.
He also started the Campbell County Red Devils youth football team. He was an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Elizabeth G. McMahon Taylor, died in 1993. A son, Richard Taylor, died in 1985.
Survivors include daughters, Nancy Snydor of Florence, Mary Jane Fortner of Melbourne, Pamela Taylor-Crone of Edgewood and Brenda Goins of Latonia; sons, Samuel D. Taylor and Gary Taylor, both of Alexandria, James Taylor and Larry Taylor, both of Ludlow, Steven Taylor of Clarksville, Tenn., and Joseph Taylor of Cincinnati; sisters, Mildred Durham of Falmouth, Betty McKinney and Gloria Van Dahlman, both of Cincinnati; 27 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Prayers will be at 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Burial will be in St. Stephen Cemetery, Fort Thomas.
Norma M. Popp Witt, 97, of Raleigh, N.C., formerly of Newport, died Thursday at Springmoor Retirement Center, Raleigh. Her husband, Dr. Joseph J. Witt, died in 1973.
Survivors include sons, Joseph Witt of Chapel Hill, N.C., Fred Witt of Whitingham, Vt., and Stuart Witt of Schuylersville, N.Y.; a sister, Helen Popp Berkemeyer of Southgate; and a brother, John M. Popp of Fort Thomas.
