Ruth Murphy offered love to family, friends
Ruth Murphy defined perfection in motherhood, said her daughter, Sharon L. Wells of Covington.
"She could answer any question you had, and she always thought of everyone else first, " said Wells.
Mrs. Murphy, of Taylor Mill, died Tuesday at St. Elizabeth North Hospice. She was 85.
Mrs. Murphy was so generous because she derived such satisfaction from the act of giving, her daughter said.
"She didn't want anything in return, just to be giving, " said Wells.
"Most men complain about their mothers-in-law, " said Wells' husband, Richard. "Mine was a saint."
When her children were young, Mrs. Murphy insisted their friends come with them on vacation.
When her grandchildren came along, they were invited, too. Once, she even took a co-worker along on a family trip.
The trips often lasted for three weeks and were to distant destinations like California, Wells said.
"She said when everybody went, it was more fun, " Wells said.
