David Lee King, 60, farmer, father and `very good man'
David Lee King loved tobacco farming and the opportunities it gave him for raising his family in a farming community. When making a living off the land became tougher, he adjusted by picking up another job as a tobacco grader for the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
"We always had a pretty good way of life living on the farm. He never met a stranger, and he always instilled that in me. He taught me how to be a pretty good person, " said his son, Tim King, of Falmouth.
David Lee King, 60, of Bracken County, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South in Edgewood.
Mr. King was born in Pendleton County and grew up on a farm. He left Northern Kentucky to serve his country in the Vietnam War. Mr. King was an Army civil engineer, building bridges.
"He was very proud of being in the Army and being over there. The only thing that he ever requested about a funeral was to be buried with full military honors, " Tim King said.
Mr. King earned the respect of farmers throughout Bracken and Pendleton counties through 15 years of work grading tobacco.
He was a dedicated father, taking time to play basketball and baseball with his son and coaching one year of Little League baseball, Tim King said. "He was a very good father and a very good man."
He enjoyed collecting miniature tractors and was a history buff, his son said.
Mr. King was a member of Oakland Christian Church and Hardin-Browning American Legion Post 109.
Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Woodhead Funeral Home, Falmouth. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial with full military honors will immediately follow at Neave cemetery in Bracken County.

William W. Beyersdoerfer, 86, of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at his home. He was a retired machinist with Cincinnati Milacron and a member of First Baptist Church of Fort Thomas, Fort Thomas Masonic Lodge No. 808, Scottish Rite, Fort Thomas Chapter No. 177 Royal Arch Masons, Newport Commandery No. 13 and Jefferies Council No. 22 R&AM;, Dayton.
Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Beyersdoerfer; sons, Rodney Beyersdoerfer of Louisville and Terry Beyersdoerfer of Fort Thomas; daughters, Page Block of Amelia, Ohio, and Sandy Tolle of Erlanger; a brother, John Beyersdoerfer of Foster; a sister, Ada Browning of Paris; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Lenoxburg Cemetery. Rose "Rhody" Goshorn, 74, of Independence, died at 10:18 a.m. Friday at University Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Foster Floyd Goshorn, died in 1982.
Survivors include her daughters, Mary Ann Graham of Morning View and Carol Ann Gaylor of Fort Mitchell; sisters, Mary Mershon of Independence and Marjorie Custer of Morristown, Ind.; a brother, Urban Gunning of Morning View; six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Independence. Visitation will be from 4 to 9 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.
George David Hovekamp Sr., 82, Crestview Hills, died at 2:30 a.m. Friday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North Hospice Unit, Covington. He was former president and chairman of Kruse Hardware, a member of the Cincinnati Club, Fort Mitchell Country Club and Young Presidents Club, and a World War II veteran of the Merchant Marine.
Survivors include his wife, Janet M. Williamson Hovekamp; daughters, Linda Hahn of Harrison, Ohio, and Cindy Tretter of Edgewood; sons, Steven Hovekamp of Edgewood, Mark Hovekamp of Hebron and George D. Hovekamp Jr. of Cincinnati; 11 grandchildren and a great-grandchild.

Josephine N. Lasita, 89, of Tampa, Fla., died Wednesday at Maria Manor, St. Petersburg, Fla. Her husband, Joseph F. Lasita, died in 1968. A daughter, Joyce McKinney, and sons, Vincent R. Lasita and Nicholas J. Lasita, all preceded her in death.
Survivors include her son, Walter M. Lasita of Henderson, Nev.; a daughter, Mary C. Roa of Tampa; a sister Anna Mae Huntsman of Cincinnati; 17 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren.

John "Bo" Leroy Louden, 43, of Hebron, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.

Margaret Louise Popovich, 84, of Cold Spring, died at 2 p.m. Wednesday at UC Medical Center, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker and member of Campbell Social Seniors, and the Mothers Club, choir and Married Ladies Society at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring, where she was also a eucharistic minister.
Survivors include her husband, Paul A. Popovich; daughters, Shelley Buechel, of Seattle, Wash., and Vicky Percival of Raleigh, N.C.; sons, Mark A. Ruth E. Roaden, 80, of Covington, died at 10:10 p.m. Thursday at Woodspoint Nursing Home, Florence. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Floyd E. Roaden, died in 1988.
Survivors include her daughter, Doris Fuller of Morning View; a son, Martin K. Roaden of Crescent Springs; sisters, Edith Wells of Covington and Elva Lubbe and Polly Patterson, both of Corbin; nine grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
