Ernestine Catherine Kelly, owned Try-Way-Inn
Ernestine Catherine Kelly, 85, formerly of Falmouth, a professional cook who owned a Falmouth restaurant, died Monday at Caritas Medical Center in Louisville.
Mrs. Kelly was the owner-operator of Falmouth Try-Way-Inn, a popular restaurant in the 1950s and '60s.
She also worked as manager of the Mount Auburn School Cafeteria in Falmouth and was later a cook for American Commercial Barge Line in Louisville.
"She was an excellent cook, " said her son, Raymond Kelly of Falmouth.
"Her restaurant in Falmouth was very popular. She had a lot of customers and people kept coming back.
"She also made a lot of friends when she managed the school cafeteria. She is well remembered in Falmouth."
Mrs. Kelly was a member of the Catholic church and was a volunteer at the Caritas Auxiliary in Louisville.
"She was a very pleasant woman who had a lot of friends, " said her son. "She was enjoyable to talk with because she could always see your point of view."
Other survivors include sons, Carl Kelly of Alexandria and Ralph Kelly of Colorado Springs, Colo .; a daughter, Paula Pettit of Louisville; sisters, Buleah Landen of Atlanta and Ann Holt of Virginia; brothers, Theodore Bryan of Xenia, Ohio, Leslie Bryan of Williamstown and Edward Bryan of Merritt Island, Fla.; nine grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were today (10 a.m. Friday) at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Louisville.
Memorials are suggested to the Caritas Auxiliary.
Melissa Courts, 35, of California, died Thursday at her home.
Arrangements are pending at Peoples Funeral Home, Falmouth.
Edgar M. Dungan, 79, of Fort Mitchell, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was a retired fork lift operator with Bass Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include a brother, Calvin E. Dungan of Florence; and sisters, Mary Esther Calvert of Latonia and Anna V. Wallace of West Covington.
Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Ronald B. Jones Funeral Home, Ludlow. Visitation will begin there at 9:30 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Mother of God Cemetery, Fort Wright.

E. Kathryn Fogle, 78, of Newport, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker. A daughter, Charlotte Fetters, died in 1991.
Survivors include her husband, Harley Fogle; a son, Charles Fetters of Alexandria; sisters, Alta Turner of Newport, Eleanor Stewart of Rightshade and Esther Singleton of Erlanger; brothers, Ed Renchen of Covington, Dewey Renchen of Claryville, Charles Renchen of Bellevue and Custer Renchen of Hillsboro, Ohio; nine grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and seven great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Monday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Mount Vernon Cemetery, Falmouth.

William R. Gibbs, 43, of Cincinnati, died Sunday of a gunshot wound at a home in Cincinnati.
He was a lab support specialist with Christ Hospital, Cincinnati.
Survivors include daughters, Jenna Gibbs and Brittany Gibbs, both of Cincinnati; his father, William Gibbs Sr. of Mason, Ohio; brothers, Kenny Gibbs and Randy Gibbs, both of Cincinnati; grandmothers, Mayme Wainscott of Florence and Mabel Gibbs of Cincinnati; and two grandsons.
Services were this morning at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.

Dorothy Lee Collins Hampton, 85, of Covington, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center North, Covington.
Arrangements are pending at Allison and Rose Funeral Home, Covington.
Minnie E. James, 97, of Latonia, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington.
She was a homemaker. Her husband, Roy B. James, died in 1977. Daughters Vella James, Chrystal Duhme and Desta Prothero also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Lowell James of Sydney, Australia, and Darrell James of Pasadena, Calif.; daughters, Helen Bingaman of St. Cloud, Fla., and Gail McGlasson of Florence; 26 grandchildren, 57 great-grandchildren and 12 great-great-grandchildren.
Graveside services will be at 12:30 p.m. Saturday at Burlington Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington.

Jeanette Day Maddin, 83, of Verona, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence.
She was a homemaker and a farmer, and a member of All Saints Church, Walton. Her husband, Lawrence Maddin, died in 1998. A son, James Eugene Maddin, died in 1974.
Survivors include a daughter, Betty Merida of Verona; a son, Daniel Joseph Maddin of Royce City, Texas; a sister, Nora Paris of Warsaw; nine grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Mass of Christian burial will be at noon Monday at All Saints Church. Visitation will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Walton. Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery, Verona.
Dollie M. McKenney, 87, of Covington, died at 10:25 a.m. Wednesday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia.
She was a retired switchboard operator with the C&O; Railroad, a member of Madison Avenue Christian Church and a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
Survivors include sons, Jim McKenney of Edgewood, Jack McKenney of Milford, Ohio, and Tom McKenney of Columbia, Mo.; a brother, Robert Lester of Covington; four grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Swindler and Currin Funeral Home, Latonia. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Monday. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill.

Edith Morehead, 89, of Florence, died Thursday at Florence Park Nursing Home.
She was a retired cook at Woodpoint Nursing Home, Florence, and a member of Erlanger Church of Christ. Her husband, Ora Edgar Morehead, died in 1977. A daughter, Rosie Morehead Rouse, died in 1986.
Survivors include a daughter, Carole Beach of Erlanger; a son, Ed Morehead of Union; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Chambers and Grubbs Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Independence Cemetery.

James W. Strasinger, 64, of Demossville, died Thursday at Northern Kentucky Care and Rehabilitation Center, Highland Heights.
He was a self-employed truck driver.
Survivors include his wife, Deloris Strasinger; daughters, Kim Stanley of Hutchinson, Kan., and Michelle Strasinger of Atlanta; sons, Ken Shirey of Glencoe and David Strasinger of Walton; his parents, David and Edith Strasinger of Cincinnati; and sisters, Claudia Stiles of Milford, Ohio, and Shirley Dietz of Cincinnati.
Memorial services will be at 4 p.m. Sunday at Unity Baptist Church, Demossville. Cremation will be at Fares J. Radel Funeral Home, Cincinnati.

Julia Rose Logsdon Williams, 72, of Covington, died at 9:15 a.m. Saturday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
She was a retired punch press operator at Overhead Door Co., Latonia.
Survivors include daughters, Alberta Turley of Virginia Beach, Va., Priscilla "Pat" Wainscott of Covington and Ramona Kohn of Edgewood; half-sisters, Wanda Murray of the state of California, Judy Loveday, Brenda Hobbs, Sandra Givens, Dianne Farris and Jeannie Barnes, all of Tennessee; half-brothers, Darrell Logsdon and Daniel Logsdon, both of Tennessee; four grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Gertrude Bezold Wittmer, 79, of Highland Heights, died at 6:27 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Janet Smith of Villisca, Iowa; a son, Tom Brown of Dry Ridge; sisters, Loretta Hunt and Elizabeth Hamberg, both of Fort Thomas; a brother, Elmo Bezold of Cold Spring; five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
