'Lawrie' Britton, conducted music for church programs
L.H. "Lawrie" Britton, 52, of Covington, who conducted music for church revivals across the United States and in Europe, died of complications from diabetes Wednesday at his residence.
A trumpet player and vocalist, Mr. Britton organized and directed the musical segments of revivals and crusades for various churches in Alabama, Tennessee, Florida, Maryland, Pennsylvania and Nebraska.
He also conducted music for religious events in Holland and Germany.
"He was a devoted Baptist and also devoted to music, " said Mr. Britton's sister, Pearl Phillips of Covington, director of women's ministries at Calvary Baptist Church in Covington.
"He felt the power of music really influenced people, " Ms. Phillips said.
"He was devoted to touching lives with music."
Other survivors include sons, Trevor Brit ton of Huntsville, Ala., Austin Britton of Omaha, Neb., Aaron Britton of Boulder, Colo., and Taylor Britton of Decatur, Ala.; a daughter, Kathryn Britton of Decatur, Ala.; brothers, Sherman Britton of Folsom, Calif., Mark Lowrie of Ontario, Canada, and Paul Lowrie of British Columbia, Canada; sisters, Arleita Dirne of LaGrange, Ohio, Gretchen Brown of Chattanooga, Tenn., Wanda Adams of Oxford, England; Caroline Mann of Swindon, England, and Bonnie Loudenslager of Toledo, Ohio; and a grandchild.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Calvary Baptist Church chapel, W. Southern & Tibbatts, Covington.
Funeral services will be private.

Paula Aytes, 77, of West Covington, died at 7 a.m. Tuesday at Rosedale Manor, Latonia. She was a retired clerk with Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati, and a member of Northern Kentucky Senior Citizens.
Survivors include daughters, Susan McCarthy of Burlington and Cynthia Simpson of Erlanger; four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Catchen Funeral Home, Elsmere. Visitation will begin there at 9 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Forest Lawn Cemetery, Erlanger.
Alma K. Divine, 89, of Florence, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
Arrangements are pending at Middendorf-Bullock Funeral Home, Ludlow.
Florence Bradford Fryman, 89, of Cincinnati, formerly of Dayton, died Wednesday at Bethesda North Hospital, Cincinnati. She was a homemaker. Her husband, Dewey Fryman, died in 1992. A daughter, Wanda Malott, also preceded her in death.
Survivors include sons, Clifford Fryman of Maysville, Ronald Fryman of Cincinnati and William Fryman of West Chester, Ohio; a daughter, Jean McColm of West Chester; sisters, Elsie Green of Newport and Viola Kidwell of Butler; and 16 grandchildren.
Services will be at 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Dobbling Funeral Home, Bellevue. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Children's Hospital Medical Center, 3333 Burnet Ave., Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
Jane Buchanan Gosney, 89, of Roxboro, N.C., formerly of Northern Kentucky, died Wednesday at Person Memorial Hospital, Roxboro. She was a member of Plum Creek Christian Church, Grants Lick.
Survivors include half-sisters, Rose Lee Singleton, Gladys Buchanan and Evelyn Buchanan, all of Birmingham, Ala.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday at Peoples Funeral Home, Grants Lick. Visitation will be from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakland Cemetery.
Barry L. Hamilton, 38, of Falmouth, died Wednesday at his home. He was a meat cutter at Kahn's, Alexandria, and a member of Morgan Christian Church, Pendleton County.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry ScolfHamilton; daughters, Christy Hamilton and Brittany Hamilton, both of Falmouth; stepsons, Clint Scolf and David Jenkins, both of Brooksville; his father, George David Hamilton of Falmouth; brothers, David Hamilton of Falmouth and Randy Hamilton of Cynthiana; and a grandson.

Shirley W. Hensley, 62, of Elsmere, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Jim C. Hensley; a stepson, Anthony James Hensley of Covington; stepdaughters, Sabrina Gail Puccini of Germantown and Janet Carol Campbell of Elsmere; a sister, Ruby Price of Covington; and three grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Erlanger. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery.
Sandra Faye Henson, 38, of Carthage, Cincinnati, died Tuesday in an automobile accident.
Survivors include sisters, Sue Huss of Covington, Deronda Gonzalez, Kathy Davis, Diana Detty, and Tammy Henson all of Cincinnati; and a brother, James Hensley of Tennessee.

Charles Eugene Henson, 78, of Carthage, Cincinnati, died Tuesday in an automobile accident. He was a retired ambulance driver for the Longview State Hospital.

Aloysius "Al" Keller III, 40, of Oakland, Calif., formerly of Cold Spring, died Tuesday at University of California San Francisco Medical Center. He worked with international real estate for AT&T.; Survivors include his father and stepmother, Aloysius "Al" and Barbara Keller of Cold Spring; brothers, Roger Keller and Rick Keller both of Cold Spring, and Russ Keller of Alexandria; sisters, Candy Schroder and Debbie Heitker, both of Cold Spring, and Bonnie Keller of Wilder.
Mass of Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Joseph Church, Cold Spring. Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Fort Thomas. Wilma Jo Myers, 79, of Warsaw, died Thursday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Lee Ed Myers; daughters, Jo Miller and Ava Centers, both of Walton, Ruth Town of Florence and Jenelle Moelman of Brooksville; sons, Lehman Hollis of Warsaw, William Hollis of Union and David Hollis of Bedford; 15 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati, Newport, is handling arrangements.
Catherine Presley, 74, of Maysville, died at 5:44 a.m. July 19 at Meadowview Regional Medical Center in Maysville. She was a homemaker.
Survivors include nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Monday at Maysville Cemetery. Brell Funeral Home, Maysville, is handling arrangements.
Ricky L. Sharpe, 44, of Erlanger, died at 1:06 p.m. Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was an assembly line worker with OEM Electric Co., Cincinnati.
Survivors include his wife, Jan S. Bonner Sharpe; his mother and stepfather, Jean Leffler Conner and Donald Conner of Warsaw; stepmother, Ida J. Sharpe of Latonia; and sisters, Kathy Allen and Teresa Smith, both of Edgewater, Fla., Sheila Sharpe of Latonia and Donna Smith of Warsaw.

Macel Smith, 85, of Latonia, died Thursday at St. Elizabeth Hospice-North, Covington.

Vera Mae Vanlandingham, 78, of California, died at 4:05 a.m. Thursday at St. Luke Hospital East, Fort Thomas. She was a retired secretary with Veterans Administration Hospital, Fort Thomas, and a Marine Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include her husband, Ralph Lee Vanlandingham; daughters, Vivian Dickerson of Newport and Vicki Holloway of Fort Thomas; and a grandson.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Saturday. Burial will be in Grandview Cemetery, Mentor.
Connie Lane Jones Walters, 63, of Burlington, died Wednesday at her home. She was a retired employee of Holiday Inn.
Survivors include daughters, Teresa G. Davis of Cincinnati and Robin L. Clegg of Florence; sons, Michael T. Nelson of Alexandria, Va., and Randall C. Walters and Jeffrey D. Walters, both of Houston; his mother, Sylvia Wright of Williamstown; sisters, Trava Nicholas of Cincinnati and Janet Prewitt of Lexington; a brother, Nick Jones of Shalimar, Fla.; and nine grandchildren.
