Roberta Lucas, 76, popular Graeter's clerk
Roberta Culbertson Lucas, 76, of Florence, a retired clerk for Graeter's Ice Cream Co., died Tuesday at St. Luke Hospital West.
Mrs. Lucas was a popular figure at Graeter's store in downtown Cincinnati.
"She had lots of regular customers and she was really well-liked, " said her daughter, Deborah Blaine of Fort Thomas.
Mrs. Lucas was a nature lover and especially enjoyed flowers and butterflies.
She had 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
"She was very family-oriented and made sure she kept in touch with all her children and grandchildren, " said Mrs. Blaine.
"She had a great sense of humor and was very compassionate. She liked to 'tell it like it is, ' but if she later found ou t she was wrong, she would admit it and apologize. She was a big-hearted person."
Mrs. Lucas was a member of Latonia Baptist Church.
Other survivors include sons, Michael E. Lucas of Umatillo, Fla., and Robert E. Lucas of Puerto Rico; daughters, Beverly Frannea of El Paso, Tex., and Gena Lucas of Sanford, Fla., and a sister, Margaret Fishback of Maineville, Ohio.
A memorial service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Florence Christian Center's chapel. There will be no visitation.
Mrs. Lucas donated her body to the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine.
Allison & Rose Funeral Home of Covington handled arrangements.
Memorials may be made to the Northern Kentucky chapter of the American Heart Association.
Carl Richard Bersch Jr., 49, of Cold Spring, died at 3:22 a.m. Tuesday at Jewish Hospital, Cincinnati. He was a real estate broker and an attorney with Bersch Realty in Highland Heights, and a member of Asbury United Methodist Church in Highland Heights. He was secretary of the Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, and a member of the Kentucky Bar Association and Northern Kentucky Board of Realtors.
Survivors include his wife, Alice Huck Bersch; his parents, Carl and Louise Bersch Sr. of Cold Spring; and sisters, Diana Heidelberg and Beverly Bersch, both of Cold Spring.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Alexandria Funeral Home. Visitation will begin there at 10 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Alexandria Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Kidney Foundation of Greater Cincinnati, 2200 Victory Parkway, Suite 510, Cincinnati, Ohio 45206.
Richard H. Campbell, 52, of New Smyrna, Fla., formerly of Independence, died May 31 in Daytona Beach, Fla., of injuries suffered in an auto accident. He was a sales representative for New Smyrna Motors.
Survivors include his mother, Beulah Campbell of Erlanger; and brothers, Bill Campbell and Mike Campbell, both of Erlanger.
Memorial services will be from 7 to 9 p.m. Monday at Nick's Grove, Taylor Mill. Settle-Wilder Funeral Home, New Smyrna Beach, Fla., is handling arrangements.
Porter Courtney, 55, of Cynthiana, died Tuesday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home in Cynthiana. He was a former lawn mower mechanic and a member of Trinity Southern Baptist Church, Falmouth.
Survivors include his parents, Melvin Courtney of Cynthiana and Ella Mae Perry West; stepbrothers and stepsisters.
Services will be at 1 p.m. today at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will begin there at noon. Burial will be in Harrison County Cemetery.
Eugene "Pop" Dorriere Sr., 81, of Fort Mitchell, died at 4 p.m. Monday at St. Elizabeth Hospice Unit, Covington. He was a retired electronics technician with Washington University in St. Louis, and an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II.
Survivors include a son, Roscoe Dorriere of Cold Spring; daughters, Marie Erickson of Aurora, Colo., Antoinette Degnan of Dallas and Andrea Salvati, Gillette Monique Webb and Marguerite Dorriere, all of St. Louis; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, St. Louis. Memorials are suggested to Leukemia Society of America, 105 W. Fourth St., Cincinnati, Ohio 45202. Cremation Society of Greater Cincinnati is handling arrangements.
Walter Hamilton, 88, of Fort Thomas, died Wednesday at Highlands of Fort Thomas Nursing Home. He was a salesman with Economy Drugs, Cincinnati. His wife, Marian Hamilton, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, Richard Hamilton of Fort Thomas.
Services will be at the convenience of the family. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, 220 S. Fort Thomas Ave., Fort Thomas, Ky. 41075; or the charity of the donor's choice.
Jasper T. Henry, 81, of Burlington, died Wednesday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. He was a press operator with General Electric, a member of Indra Consistory Scottish Rite and Burlington Masonic Lodge No. 264 F&AM, and an Army veteran of World War II. His wife, Ethaleen Henry, died in 1999.
Survivors include a stepdaughter, Lillian Tucker of Burlington; nine step-grandchildren and eight step-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Stith Funeral Home, Florence. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Burlington Cemetery. Harley Hensley Jr., 64, of Independence, died Wednesday at St. Elizabeth Medical Center South, Edgewood.
He was owner of Hensley Welding Co. and a member of Millwrights Union Local No. 1066 and Comm unity Pentecostal Church.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie Jean Hensley; sons, Rod Hensley of Ghent and Tommy Brock of Crittenden; daughters, Tonya Belew of Taylor Mill, Susan Centers of Elsmere, Julie Hensley and Kellie Finke, both of Independence, and Rachel Hemlick of Park Hills; his mother, Audney Hensley of Independence; sisters, Irene Schwaller and Barbara Ballard, both of Taylor Mill, and Judy Ireland of Burlington; brothers, Dennis Hensley of Taylor Mill and Jessie Hensley of Corinth; 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Community Pentecostal Church, Independence. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in Floral Hills Cemetery, Taylor Mill. Joyce Ann Klein, 69, of Cincinnati, formerly of Newport, died at 3:05 a.m. Wednesday at Three Rivers Nursing Home in Cincinnati.
She was a homemaker.
Survivors include a daughter, Cheryl Willoughby of Newport; a son, Gerald Kalfrat of Bellevue; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Muehlenkamp-Erschell Funeral Home, Newport. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery, Southgate. Raymond F. "Tom" Martin, 78, of Carrollton, died Tuesday at Veterans Administration Medical Center, Louisville. He was a nursery owner, a former member of the American Nursery Mans Association and Kentucky Nursery Association, and a Navy veteran of World War II. H is wife, Jo Anne Hamburg Martin, preceded him in death.
Survivors include a son, John Robert Martin of Salisbury; sisters, Winnie Grimes of Carrollton and Martha Wheeler of Bowling Green; and a grandchild.
Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at IOOF Cemetery, Carrollton. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home, Carrollton.
Rosemary Thomas Simpson Shadd, 67, of Cynthiana, died Wednesday at Edgemont Manor Nursing Home, Cynthiana. She was a former homemaker and member of Central Christian Church, Cynthiana.
Survivors include sons, Terry Lee Shadd, David Allen Shadd and Jackie Lane Shadd, all of Cynthiana; daughters, Dallas Ann Shadd and Kelly Diane Mattox, both of Cynthiana; a sister, Nancy Gaunce of Indianapolis; 10 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Ware Funeral Home, Cynthiana. Visitation will begin there at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Battle Grove Cemetery, Cynthiana.
Micki N. White, 53, of Burlington, died Sunday at St. Luke Hospital West, Florence. She was a homemaker, one of the first female police officers with the Florence Police Department, and a former Miss Northern Kentucky.
Survivors include her son, Mitchell White of Ashland; a daughter, Meredith Ashlie White of Fort Mitchell; a sister, Donna White of Glenmont, N.Y.; and a brother, Steve White of Burlington.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Friday at Linnemann Funeral Home, Burlington. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Burial is in Burlington Cemetery.
