Alvin R. Zuehlke
Alvin R. Zuehlke, age 82, of Mapleton born October 29, 1922 in rural Good thunder to John and Alma (Rosin) Zuehlke. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Ava Kump on November 4, 1944 at Bethany College Chapel in Mankato. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from Jan. 1945 to Aug. of 1946. He worked for local farmers after returning from the service. Alvin then worked for Ramy Seed Co. and 35 ˝ years for the Dotson Co. He was a member of Eagle Lake Church of Christ. He enjoyed hunting, trapping, camping and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lorraine Zuehlke; six children, Jeanne (Marlin) Peterson of North Mankato, Jeannette Tyge of Warrens, WI, Lawrence (Katherine) Zuehlke of Mankato, Gerald Zuehlke of rural Mapleton, Dorothy Zuehlke of rural Mapleton, Bonnie Zuehlke and special friend, Bruce Miller of Pemberton; 17 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; a sister, Rena Larson of Eagle Lake; two brothers, Ed Zuehlke of Windom, Marvin (Lois) Zuehlke of Garden City; nephews, nieces, and cousins.
He was preceded in died Sunday, November 28, 2004 at St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, December 2, 2004 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer, Jr. officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park born on November 29, 1923 in Rapidan Township, Blue Earth County, MN. She was the daughter of Herman and Anna (Tischer) Schwantes. Viona attended Country School District 121 and St. John’s Lutheran School. She was united in marriage to Harold R. Kruggel on June 30, 1948 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Good Thunder. Viona was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, where she participated in the Ladies Aid. Viona enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, fishing, and spending time with her family.
Viona is survived by her husband, Harold of Good Thunder; one son, Ronnie and his wife, Diane, of rural Good Thunder; five grandchildren, Jamie Frank and her husband, Mike, and Jason, Jon, Jesse, and Jodi Kruggel, all of Good Thunder; also nieces, nephews, cousins, and Bear.
She was preceded in died Friday, November 26, 2004, at her home.
Funeral service 11:00 a.m. Monday at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Rev. Donald L. Moldstad officiating. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Monday at Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. Committal service 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Christ Lutheran Church, Cottonwood with burial to follow in Christ Lutheran born January 19, 1925 to Ludvig and Gertrude (Bly) Dahl in Cottonwood. She graduated from Cottonwood High School and attended the University of Minnesota. She was united in marriage to Kay Knudson on July 12, 1947 at Silo Lutheran Church in Cottonwood. Kay death by her parents and husband.
Julie Roettger
Julie Renee Roettger, age 38, of rural Kasota, Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 27, 2004 at Bethel Baptist Church in Mankato, with Pastor Jon Campbell officiating. Burial will be in Mount Olivet born March 29, 1966 in Des Plaines, IL to Bruce and Shirley (Ellis) Riendeau. She graduated in 1984 from Maine South High School in Park Ridge, IL. Julie graduated with a Business degree from Drake University in Des Moines, IA. She death but she longed to keep fighting her cancer so she could impact people. She sought every opportunity to have another talk with her kids, to help a friend or to meet someone new. She longed to use her life to encourage others and show them the love of her Lord Jesus Christ.
Julie is survived by her husband, James of rural Kasota; three children, Will, Sarah, and Margaret Roettger at home; parents, Bruce and Shirley of Northbrook, IL; three brothers, Bruce Riendeau of Northbrook, IL, Dwayne (Patricia) Riendeau of Wautoma, WI, Reed (Germaine) Riendeau of Wautoma, IL.
Irene Karels
Irene Karels, age 84 of Lake Crystal Cemetery. Visitation from 5-7 p.m. Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Tuesday.
Mrs. Karels was death by her husband.
Dale M. Rice
Dale M. Rice, age 83 of Waseca formerly of the Granada area Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at the Church on Saturday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to American Cancer Society, American Heart Assn or organization of the donor’s choice. Lake Crystal Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Mr. Rice was death by two infant brothers, a granddaughter, Renee Rice and a daughter-in-law, Ingrid Rice.
Marilyn Nisja
Marilyn C. Nisja, age 74, of Mankato, died Sunday, October 3, 2004 at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, October 6, 2004 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Eugene Glade officiating. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. on Tuesday at Mankato Mortuary, and continues one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church for their handicapped restroom project.
