Michelle E. Davis
Michelle Elizabeth Davis, age 31, of North Mankato, born on January 5, 1973 in Minneapolis and was just a few weeks short of her 32nd birthday. She was the daughter of Mike and Carol (Schlee) Kerkvliet of Coon Rapids. Michelle died Wednesday, November 17, 2004 at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis.
Funeral services are 11:00 a.m., Monday November 22, 2004 at Grace Lutheran Church with Rev. Joel Erickson officiating. Visitation is 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. born to Wallace and Elsie (Koester) Anderson October 14, 1927, in Clear Lake, WI. She graduated from New Ulm High School in 1945. On December 6, 1947, she died Thursday, December 16, 2004 at his home, due to complications from pancreatic cancer.
Memorial service will be held 11:00 a.m. Monday at Christ the King Lutheran Church, with Pastor John Petersen and Pastor David Lura officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Bush Point born January 18, 1944 in Forest City, IA to James and Alvera (Hanna) Lovick. He was raised in the Fertile area and in 1962 graduated from Fertile Consolidated High School. David enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1965 and completed his duties as a helicopter mechanic-crew chief in 1968. David had one tour of duty in Vietnam. He was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Purcell on June 8, 1968 in Fertile. He attended Waldorf College and graduated from Mankato State University in 1971 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Arts. In July of 1968, David joined the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners Union #464, beginning what would be a 36+ years in local construction. He worked for many years for R.W. Carlstrom Co. He was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, Mankato and served on several boards. He enjoyed spending time with his family, friends, and neighbors. He also cherished his time at the lake.
David is survived by his wife, Patricia Ann (Purcell) Lovick; one daughter, Sarah (Dan) Boswell of North Mankato; one son, Michael (Kathy) Lovick of Boulder, CO; five grandchildren, Holli Johnson, Katie, David, Sophie and Elizabeth Boswell; parents, James and Alvera Lovick of Fertile, IA; five sisters, Gloria Kirschbaum of Fertile, IA, Mary (Ralph) Rye of Minneapolis, Janice Folkers of Minneapolis, Clara (Kurt) West of Rochester, Martha (William) Cavanaugh of Charles City, IA; two sisters-in-law, Colleen (David) Lura of Oak Harbor, WA, Barbara (Bob) Klapperich of Waverly, IA; aunts, uncles, nephews, nieces and cousins.
He was preceded in died Wednesday, January 12, 2005 at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital. Funeral services are 1:30 p.m., Sunday, January 16 at Hosanna Lutheran Church. Visitation is 4 to 7 p.m., Saturday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. born June 21, 1939 in Elk River, MN to Fred and Dorothy (Durst) Anderson. She attended grade school in Mankato and Maplewood Academy in Hutchinson.
On September 10, 1960 Mary Jo death by her parents, 2 sisters, Dorothy Strand and Marcia Roberts; and an infant grandson, David Olson.
Vera Sonnabend
Vera Marie Sonnabend, age 88, of Hutchinson, formerly of Good Thunder, Interment will be in Memorial Park born on December 19, 1916 in Cambria Township, Blue Earth County, MN. She was the daughter of Roy and Laura (Johnson) Meixell. Vera was united in marriage to August Sonnabend on January 2, 1937 in Lake Crystal. She was employed as a cook at Good Thunder Public School for 27 years. Vera was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, where she participated with the Ladies Aid. She enjoyed sewing and needlework.
Vera is survived by three children and their spouses, Laurel Sonnabend of Cambridge, RuthAnn and Harvey Austin of Indianapolis, IN, Amy and David Larson of Hutchinson; nine grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Sophie Abbott of Bloomington; two sisters-in-law, Loretta Doering of Mapleton, Muriel Meixell of Rogers; also nieces, nephews, and cousins.
She was preceded in Funeral service will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 19, 2005 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, North Mankato, with Rev. Charles Vannieuwenhoven officiating. Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation on Tuesday from 5-8 p.m. at Mankato Mortuary and one hour before services at church on Wednesday. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to an organization of the donor’s choice.
Harold was married Evelyn M. Gosch on April 9, 1934 at Grace Lutheran Church in Mankato. Evelyn death by his wife, Evelyn; daughter, Barbara Ann in 1937; son, Bernard in 1964; infant grandson; infant great-granddaughter; his parents and six sisters.
Kermit A. Schaffer
Mankato resident, Kermit A. Schaffer, age 67, born January 21, 1937 in Windom, MN to Clarence and Margaret (Savage) Schaffer. He graduated from Windom High School and attended 2 years of Commercial College.
On July 7, 1961 Kermit was united in marriage to Dorothy A. Holmes in Bingham Lake, MN. He served in the National Guard.
Throughout the years he was an over the road truck driver, driving for several companies lastly for Crysteel. Kermit had many joys and interests, woodworking, driving truck, reading western novels, and doing word searches.
He especially loved time spent with his family and friends.
Kermit is survived by his wife, Dorothy of Mankato; 2 sons and their wives, Paul and Jolene Schaffer of St. Peter and John and Donna Schaffer of Mankato; 1 daughter and her husband, Virjean and David Lenertz of Mankato; grandchildren, Tony and Jill Schaffer, and Mike Schaffer of St. Peter; Kyle, Molly and Morgan Lane of Mankato, Jessica, Samantha and Carlee Schaffer of Mankato; great grandchildren, Owen and Alexander Schaffer of St. Peter; 3 brothers and their wives, Donald “Tom” and Frances Schaffer, Les and Gail Schaffer, Jack and Rosemary Schaffer all of Windom; 2 sisters, Emily Axford of Windom, Mary Choinere and her husband, Paul of Eden Prairie; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and 2 sisters.
