Lucille Kohler, age 88 of Mankato, Cemetery.
Robert E. Schultz
Robert Edward Schultz, age 72, of Mankato, Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Monday. Memorials are preferred to First Congregational UCC or the South Central Parkinson’s Support Group.
Bob was married Georgia “Jo” Enfield on February 8, 1953. He was employed at Erickson Petroleum Company (Holiday Station Stores) in Bloomington for 31 years as a Construction Supervisor.
Although Bob and Jo lived in Bloomington for over 30 years, they also had a home on Madison Lake (built by Bob) where they retired. They enjoyed vacations at this location since 1954, until it became their permanent home. Bob will be remembered as the “always willing to help” neighbor. He loaned out tools, his truck, and used his expertise on many projects. Neighbor kids brought him flat bike tires, swimming tubes to be inflated, bird nests, snakes, frogs, turtles, and stray animals for his assistance.
He enjoyed fishing, skin diving, swimming, water skiing and riding his “Big Red” three-wheeler and John Deere lawn tractor. He played cards, walked dogs, watched over others homes and visited with his many friends. We will miss him. Oh how we’ll miss him – Big Bob, everybody’s friend.
Bob was a member of Mankato Lodge #12 AF & AM in Mankato, the First Congregational UCC, and the Madison Lake Area Historical Society.
James Hollerich
James “Jim” Hollerich, age 57, of Garden City, Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Sunday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and will continue one hour before services at church on Monday.
James was married Sandra A. Muske in Lake Crystal. Jim worked at Rays Standard Station in Garden City and was employed with Honeymead in 1976, where he continued his employment with Cenex Harvest States in Mankato.
Jim was a member, deacon, and elder of First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, where he participated in the choir. He assisted in the organization of the Sharing Tree, volunteered with the Salvation Army Kettle Drives, and was involved with the Blue Earth County Recycling Committee. Jim enjoyed yardwork, especially taking particular care of his lawn and flowers. He also enjoyed woodworking, traveling and spending time with his family.
Survived by his wife, Sandra Hollerich of Garden City; two children, Sara Hollerich of Des Moines, IA, Joel Hollerich and his wife, Kelli of Chaska; three sisters and their husbands, Judith and Kenneth Truebenbach of Big Fork, Kathryn and Gordon Oachs of Garden City, Jane and Dean Caldwell of Amboy; step-father, Ray Gustafson of Garden City; brother-in-law, Gary Muske and his wife, Jackie of Minneapolis; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in died Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Funeral services are 10:30 a.m. Friday, October 22, 2004 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and continues one hour prior to the services at the church. born October 2, 1931 at Bingham Lake, MN to Henry and Susan (Penner) Young. He married Kathy Schleuger.
He worked at Continental Can Company until his retirement. Roland liked traveling, camping, woodworking, and enjoyed breakfast at McDonald’s. He was a member of Loyal Order of Moose.
Roland is survived by Carolyn, mother of Scott and Lynn; 1 son, Scott of Kasota; 1 daughter, Lynn of Scottsdale, AZ; 3 grandchildren, Amy, Justin, and Thomas; 1 brother, Harold Young (Grace) of Mankato; brother-in-law, Francis Symon of Mankato; nieces and nephews, Robert, Suzette, Mary, Keith, Lori, Steve, and Julie.
He was preceded in died Saturday, October 16, 2004, at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital in Mankato.
Interment will be in Calvary born October 31, 1907 at Karlskrona, Sweden to Alfred and Hilda (Swenson) Hokanson. Esther came to America with her parents and brother, Henry, when she was 4 years old, the family moved to Traverse, MN where Esther lived and attended a country school, at that time she knew no English. She later moved to St. Peter and attended high school. After high school she moved to Minneapolis and worked at Fanny Farmer Candies, and in time Esther met Art Plante and they were death Esther moved to Blue Earth, where she owned and managed a jewelry store until moving to Mankato in 1964 where she worked at Hoki’s Market. Esther had many joys she enjoyed shopping, crafts, flowers, gardening, dancing and she especially loved chocolates.
She was a member of St. Joseph The Worker Church, Catholic Daughters and the Church Guild.
Esther is survived by 1 brother and his wife, Hartley and Barbara Hokanson of Mankato; and nieces and nephews, Ron Hokanson (Carolyn) of Mankato, Tom Hokanson of Cumberland, WI, Sue Gilbaugh (Craig) of Ashland, WI, Anita Hultengren (Steven) of Eagle Lake, Mona Beck (Eddie), Barry Hokanson (Barbara) and Claudia Hokanson all of Iowa.
She was preceded in died on Oct. 13, 2004 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato. death. . Survivors are her brother, Donald and his wife, Marian of Tacoma, Wash. and her brother, Willis and his wife, Jurine of Green Valley, Az.
Dr. Schellberg was a Professor Emeritus-Mankato State College and will be remembered for her activities in Camp Fire, Equity Action League, many civic organizations of Minnesota and as a leader of more than 100 Camping trips into the BWCA and other wilderness areas in US and Canada.
Her interest in the International Association for Physical Education and Sports for Girls and Women led her to represent her country at meetings around the world. Memorial services are pending.
Kathleen M. Brennan
Kathleen Marie Brennan, age 48, of Madison Lake, Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Mankato Mortuary and will continue one hour prior to services at the church on Saturday.
Caroline Wiebold
Caroline I. Wiebold, age 72 of Minneapolis formerly of Mankato Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour before services at church on Thursday. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Bernice Meyer
A lifelong resident of Minnesota, Mrs. Arnold Meyer, nee Ruth Bernice Gibbs, “B”, age 90, funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2004 at our Savior’s Lutheran Church in Mankato with Rev. Eugene Glade officiating. A private family burial will be in Glenwood born in Mankato on September 20, 1914 to Almeda (McCall) Gibbs and Gilbert “Bert” Gibbs. She was the third of five children.
As a young woman, “B” was actively involved in modeling, musical performances, theatre and beauty pageant competitions. She acted in theatrical presentations at Mankato Teachers’ College and in community theatre. She was elected Miss Fashion Queen of Mankato in 1932.
“B” married F. Arnold “Arnie” Meyer on August 20, 1934 in Estherville, Iowa. They were blessed with five children, Frederick “Fritz”, Pierre “Pete”, Denis, Pamala and Janet.
“B” was a member of the group which organized Our Savior’s Lutheran Church. She was active in the church choir, as a vocalist for weddings and funerals, and in the Women’s Guild. She sang for many community functions, was interested in traveling, knitting, curling, playing cards, and gathering information about her genealogy. She treasured music and loved playing the organ. She most enjoyed being a mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
