Cleo M. Sowers

Cleo May Sowers, age 93, of Vernon Center, Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, September 22, 2006 at Grace United Methodist Church, Vernon Center, with Rev. Wanda Kothlow, officiating. Burial will be in Vernon Center born February 25, 1913 to Frank E. and Zada (Furrow) Sayre in St. Charles, IA. She graduated from Redwood Falls High School in 1931 and was united in marriage to R. Sumner Sowers on March 14, 1932 in St. Paul. Cleo was a farm wife and homemaker for her family and was a Stanley Home Products dealer for 45 years. Cleo was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where she was former president of the WSCS and church circle. She served for 25 years as a leader of the Riverside 4-H Club and was a member of the Blue Earth County Extension Club. She enjoyed spending winters in Arizona, dancing, sewing, cooking, making wedding cakes, and making scrapbooks for her grandchildren.

Cleo is survived by six children, David (Bettie) Sowers of Valencia, CA, Dan (Harriet) Sowers of Vernon Center, Marilyn Vialle of Maple Plain, Zada (Lee) Belgard of Madelia, Jim (Lucy) Sowers of Minneapolis, Julie (Tom) Keller of Slayton; fourteen grandchildren; eighteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Cleo was preceded in died at his home Wednesday, September 27, 2006, after a courageous battle with a cancerous brain tumor. He Cemetery, Mankato. Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation continues one hour before service at the church on Monday. Memorials may be given to Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospice, VINE, or the Special Olympics.

Richard was married Harriet Cherp at Ss. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Ivanhoe, MN. He was a deputy auditor for Nicollet County for more than 30 years. During that time, he also worked at Madsen's/Randall's Super Value. After retirement he worked part time at Cub Foods, Aim Auto and Napa. He was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, and the North Mankato American Legion Post 518. He was also a regular blood donor and gave over 62 pints during his lifetime. Richard was an avid Twins fan and card player and enjoyed bowling and golf.

Richard is survived by his wife, Harriet Smishek of North Mankato; six children, David Smishek, Brian Smishek, Neal Smishek all of North Mankato, Danna Smishek of Plymouth, Darcy (Bernie) Cline of North Mankato, Jason Smishek of Minneapolis; two grandsons, Kyle and Jared Cline; two brothers, Donald (Judith) Smishek of Joliet, MT, Michael Smishek of Marshall; special niece, Jane (Michael) Schwarz and family of LeSueur; and other nieces nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in died Friday, October 20, 2006 at Immanuel – St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato.

Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be from 5 – 7 p.m. on Monday at Lake Crystal Mortuary and one hour before the service at the church on Tuesday. Memorials may be given to First Presbyterian Church.

Evelyn was death by her parents; husband, Ben in 1988; grandson, Jeff Edwards in 1987; son-in-law, Dave Roberts in 1992; three brothers, Berwyn “Scotty”, Curtis, and Gene; one sister, Margaret.

Mildred Ochocki

Mankato resident, Mildred (Nelson) Anderson Ochocki, 80, Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8p.m. on Thursday with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and will continue at the church 1 hour prior to the service. Memorials are preferred to Vine.

Mildred was married Tony Ochocki at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church in Mankato. As well as being a homemaker, she worked at Tony’s City Service Café. Mildred liked crocheting, loved having coffee with family and friends at Primrose, and always looked forward to her yearly trip to Jackson Hole, Wyoming. She was a member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church.

Mildred is survived by 2 sons, Robert (Clarice) Anderson of Pemberton, MN, Stephen “Andy” (Jolene) Anderson of Mankato; 4 grandchildren, Paul (Angie) Anderson of Princeton, MN, Travis (Kim) Anderson of Owatonna, MN, Lexi (Nick) Pietsch of Lake Crystal, MN, Brittany Anderson of Mankato, MN; 2 great grandchildren; 2 brothers, George “Dick” (Ellie) Nelson of Stewart, MN, Gary (Deb) Nelson of LaQuinta, CA; 3 sisters, Marge Subby of Mankato, MN, Geraldine Spenger of North Mankato, MN, Grace Fox of Washington; 2 sisters-in-law; many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in died Tuesday, October 10, 2006 at Hillcrest Health Care Center in Mankato.

Graveside services will be held at 2:15 p.m., Friday, October 13, 2006 at Ft. Snelling National born on August 30, 1916 in St. Peter. She was the daughter of Edward and Bertha (Hayer) Nelson. Dolores was a 1934 graduate of St. Peter High School and later attended nursing school in St. Peter. Dolores was united in marriage to LeRoy Perry on May 5, 1935 in Mankato. She was employed as a nurse with Immanuel St. Joseph's Hospital and St. Peter State Hospital. Dolores enjoyed gardening, sewing, reading, and painting flowers and landscapes.

Dolores is survived by her three daughters, Patricia (Reuben) Kaiser of Wells, Linda (Neil) Jacobson of Elmore, and LaVonne (Mike) Sawyer of Winona; one son, Richard Perry of Montgomery; nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in died Sunday, October 15, 2006 at Immanuel-St. Joseph's Hospital, Mankato.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, October 20, 2006 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, North Mankato with Rev. Peter Nosbush, officiating. Burial will be in Calvary born October 19, 1916 to John and Mary (Wilmes) Schneider in Mankato. She was united in marriage to Alvin J. Gosch on September 5, 1940. Babe and her husband operated the Tap Room in North Mankato from 1960 to 1966. Babe was the noon chef at the Century Club from 1966 until her retirement in 1983. Babe was a member of Holy Rosary Catholic Church, the Counsel of Catholic Women, the VFW post 950 Auxiliary, and the Eagle Lake American Legion Post 617 Auxiliary. She enjoyed gardening and cooking, sharing her tips with family and friends, playing cards and bingo with her children, grandchildren, and friends. Babe was a devoted mother and grandmother; her favorite times were family gatherings, especially Sunday dinners.

Babe is survived by her four daughters, Patricia Stierlen and her husband, Roger “Pete” of North Mankato, Sister Mary Kay Gosch, SSND of Ghana, Africa, Margaret “Muggs” Olson and her husband, Mark of Northfield, and Kathleen Cheslock and her husband, Jon of Reisterstown, MD; her son, Donald Gosch and his wife, Cynthia of North Mankato; twelve grandchildren, Terri (Bob) Taylor, Traci (Rick) Sellner, Tom (Renae) Stierlen, Trisha (Matt) Sizer, all of North Mankato, Angie (Eric) Casteel of Owatonna, Brooks (Kali) Gosch of Mankato, Emily Gosch of Pompano Beach, FL, Christopher (Molly) Schmidt of German Town, TN, Carrie (Christian) Proetz of Denver, CO, Cpt. Matthew (Vanessa) McGraw of Baghdad, Iraq and Fort Hood, TX, Jessica McGraw, of Warrenton, VA, John McGraw of Frederick, MD; nineteen great-grandchildren; sister, Lucille Bauman of Utah; sister-in-law, Adeline Evelman of Ohio; many nieces and nephews.

Babe was preceded in died Saturday, September 30, 2006 at the Lake Crystal Health Care Center.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, October 5, 2006 at Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. John Wilmot officiating. Burial will be in Holy Family born April 5, 1926 to George and Mary (Haubrick) Bublitz in Hallock, MN. She graduated from Bird Island High School in 1944. Following graduation she worked as a bookkeeper for the Department of Navy in Washington, D.C. Helen was united in marriage to Harold Kroubetz on November 11, 1947 in Bird Island. She worked as a bookkeeper for Fisher Clothing in Mankato and Kroubetz Auto Body in Lake Crystal. Helen was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church in Lake Crystal, Catholic Order of Daughters, Lake Crystal Chamber of Commerce, VFW 950 Auxiliary, and Lake Crystal American Legion # 294 Auxiliary. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking, square dancing, old time music, and traveling.

Helen is survived by her husband, Harold of Lake Crystal; one son, Paul (Kimberly) Kroubetz of Lake Crystal; three grandchildren, Shannon (John) Jimenez of London, England, Kimberly (Mark) Johnson of Madelia, and Ashley Kroubetz of Lake Crystal; six great-grandchildren, Zachary, Jacob, and Samuel Jimenez, Amber, Kaelyn, and Maxwell Johnson; one sister, Marie Karnik of Bird Island; many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Iona; and brother-in-law, Emil Karnik.
