Karen Talamantez, age 67 of Wells, MN, Cemetery in Wells, MN. Karen Lee Talamantez was married life in Wells. Karen worked a variety of jobs, although her favorite was her 11 years at Sears in Mankato, MN. She was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in Wells. Karen enjoyed life. She loved her family, spending time with her friends and being active in her grandchildren’s lives.She is survived by her adoring husband and best friend, David of Wells; her 4 children to whom she was always a loving and devoted Mother: Anthony “Tony” Talamantez of Mankato, MN, Juliene (Talamantez) Lindblom of Minnesota Lake, MN, Susan and her husband Daniel Salava of Woodbury, MN and Nancy Talamantez of New Richland, MN; 6 grandchildren: David and Christopher Talamantez; Kyle and Cameron Lindblom; Adele and Joseph Salava; 1 great-grandson: Brayden (Talamantez) Savage; Brothers and sisters-in-law: Frank and Abraham Talamantez of CO, Glenda Saldana and Joseph Talamantez of TX, Patrick, Chester, Kathy, Steve and Linda Talamantez of CA; many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Preceding her in died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2007 at New Richland Care Center. Services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Lutheran Church in Waldorf with burial at First Lutheran died Friday, Oct. 19, 2007 at her home. Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday Oct. 27, 2007 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Winnebago with burial at Calvary died on Tuesday Oct. 23, 2007 at his home. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday at Presbyterian Church in Le Sueur with passed away Monday, Oct. 22, 2007. Services will be Friday, Oct. 26 with visitation starting at 9 AM and a Memorial Mass at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of the Prairie Catholic Church, 215 N. Chestnut St., Belle Plaine, MN. Donna was married her college sweetheart Neil Keohane. Neil and Donna shared 41 years, raised 2 children (Shannon and Shelley) and traveled extensively. She worked in nursing for many years, 19 of them in quality assurance at Waconia Ridgeview M.C. Donna bravely battled breast cancer twice and inspired all who knew her with her optimism, faith, grace and will to live. Donna will be remembered for many things including her sense of style, monster hugs, warm humor, and above all her compassion and generous spirit. She is survived by her husband Neil; son Shannon; daughter Shelley Nolan (Roger); beloved granddaughter Natalie; sister Paula Thyssen (Wayne); brother Larry (Marlene); brother-in-law Brian Keohane (Janet); sister-in-law Liz Bolten (Fred); many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Norma Idalia January
Memorial services for Norma Idalia January, age 41, of St. James, will be 4:00pm, Wednesday, October 24, 2007 at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James. Norma born May 31, 1966 at Brownsville, Texas to parents Roberto and Lidia (Arreola) Esparza. Norma grew up in Matamoros, Tams, Mexico. She graduated from high school in Mexico and received her teaching certificate in fashion design at Academia Mexico. She worked as a kindergarten aide in Mexico for a couple years before working as a cashier at her brother’s sea food restaurant before moving to Minnesota in July 1992. On October 29, 1993 Norma death.Norma was a collector; she collected mugs, key chains, little bells, apple and frog knick-knacks and loved to decorate her home both inside and outside for any holidays.Norma was a loving mother, wife, daughter and friend. She will be greatly missed.She is survived by her husband Modest January of St. James, children, Joshua, Sasha and Ace January all of St. James, her father Roberto Esparza of Brownsville, TX, brothers Roberto Esparza, Jr of Brownsville, Carlos Esparza of Brownsville, Genaro Esparza of Loredo, TX, sisters, Alma Dorantes of Siloam Springs, AR and Silvia Tellez of St. James. She was preceded in died on Sunday evening at the Minnesota Valley Health Center. Mass of Christian Burial will be on Thursday, Oct. 25, 11:00 a.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in LeSueur. Fr. Paul Schumacher will officiate the mass. Visitation will be on Wednesday from 4-8 p.m. with a 7:45 p.m. K.C. Rosary and 8:00 p.m. prayer service at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur. Visitation will continue Thursday morning at the funeral home from 8:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Cemetery in LeSueur with military honors.Mr. Iten was married Ruth Baucom on April 14, 1944 in Galveston, TX. The couple later moved to California were Mr. Iten worked in the trucking industry. They later moved to Pueblo, CO where he worked for the United States Postal service for many years. After he retired the couple moved back to LeSueur, MN in 1988. He was a member of the Le Center American Legion, Elks Club, Knights of Columbus and enjoyed bowling and golfing.He is survived by his children: Lynn (Steven) Daum of Kansas City, MO; Cheri Iten of Denver, CO; Dale (Kathleen) Iten of Glendale, AZ; Grandchildren: Scott, Kevin and Brian Iten; Brad and Kristin Daum; Great-Grandchildren: Brian and Jayden Iten; Siblings: Tom (Donna) Iten of LeSueur, MN; Jack (Carol) Iten of LeSueur, MN; Paul (Claudia) Iten of Broken Arrow, OK; Barbara (Art) Straub of LeSueur, MN; In-Laws: Barbara Jean and John Milwee of Chicago, IL, Frank and Julie Baucom of Orlando, FL.He is preceded in died Saturday, October 20, 2007, at Pleasant View Good Samaritan Center in St. James, MN.Visitation will be held at the Sturm Funeral Home in St. James from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM, on Friday, October 26, and will continue for one hour prior to the service at the church. Lila Agnes Birkholz, daughter of Matt O. and Anna (Blackstad) Evjen was died on Saturday afternoon, October 20, 2007.Lila and Martin had two children, Rev. Marcus (Cheri) Birkholz of Stillwater, MN and Daniel (Jane) Birkholz of St. James. Her eight grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren were always special to her. A number of the grandchildren stayed with grandpa and grandma in Mankato during their college days. Lila had the gift of hospitality. Her house was always open and a warm welcome was extended to members of the congregation, visitors and college students. The would never leave her table empty. Her specialties included fresh apple pie, roast duck and pheasant. The meals were often accompanied by canned or frozen garden vegetables.She leaves to mourn her death by her parents.Memorials instead of flowers may be given to St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in Mankato, and/or St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in St. James.

Longtime Mankato resident, Barbara J. Anderson, 65, Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park.
Barb was death by her mother, Dorothy Routh, and brother, Dean Routh.
Gertrude Meyer
Mankato–Homemaker and lifelong Mankato resident Gertrude M. Meyer, age 90, Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:30 P.M. on Thusday, October 25 at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and continues one hour before services Friday at the church. Gert was married Francis “Andy” Meyer on October 11, 1948. They had eight children. She especially enjoyed cooking, raising children, and spending time with family and friends. Gert’s many endearing attributes included common sense, sparkling humor, and delightful talk. Her friendship was a splendid platter, always full and always freely offered. While in Gert’s company, a person felt a little better about being in the world.
She was preceded in death by her parents, by her two brothers (Jack Klugherz and Art Klugherz), by her sister Ruth (Klugherz) Ryan, and by her husband. She is survived by her three daughters: Elizabeth Lasch (and husband Glen) of New Prague, Ann Prchal (and husband Ralph) of Prior Lake, and Josephine Vandewege (and husband John) of Rosemount; and by her five sons: Michael Meyer (and wife Barb) of Lakeville, Richard Meyer of Mankato, Anthony Meyer (and wife Rhonda) of Northfield, Mark Meyer (and wife Sue) of Glen Ellyn, IL, and Joseph Meyer (and wife Anne) of Casper, WY. Gert is also survived by eighteen grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
