Eleanor F. Zastrow
Eleanor F. Zastrow, age 90, of rural Good Thunder, Funeral service will be held 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at St. John Lutheran Church in Good Thunder with Rev. Rudolph H. Maurer, Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Memorial Park born September 4, 1917 in Good Thunder to Ernest and Ida (Kopischke) Heitner. She death by her husband, Clarence, brother, Melvin, and niece Shirley.
Vernon L. Hanson
Vernon L. Hanson, age 82, of Mankato, born on June 21, 1925 in Hanley Falls. He was the son of Oscar and Ebba (Rude) Hanson. Vernon was a 1943 graduate of Hanley Falls High School. He served his country in the U.S. Army from March of 1945 until October of 1946, gaining the rank of sergeant. Vernon then attended one semester of farm school at the University of Minnesota, transferred to St. Olaf College, and graduated from Mankato State University in 1951. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Thompson on August 14, 1949 in Eagle Grove, IA. Vernon was a manager for an insurance holding company for thirty years. He was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Jaycees, SCORE, and Habitat for Humanity. Vernon enjoyed sailing, golfing, traveling, and spending time with his family.
Vernon is survived by his wife, Kathryn of Mankato; children, Margie Hanson of Wichita, KS, David (Margie) Hanson of Portland, OR, and Barbara (Dean) Benforado of Castaic, CA; four grandchildren, Laura and Tyler Hanson, Elizabeth and Emily Benforado; two sisters, Myrtle Benson of Granite Falls and Joan Oftedahl of Hanley Falls; also many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in passed away at his home on Monday, November 26, 2007.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, December 1, 2007 at Trinity Lutheran Church (511 S. 5th Street) in St. Peter. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 on Friday, November 30 at Trinity Lutheran and will continue one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be at 3:00 pm Saturday at Greenhill born on June 24, 1949 in Mankato MN to Gerald and Adeline (Brazier) Potz. He was a 1968 graduate of St. Peter High School. He death by his son Joel, sister Toni, and his grandparents.Memorials preferred to the American Diabetes Association or the American Cancer Society.
Edmond J. Cahill
Edmond J. Cahill, age 76, of St. Paul, formerly of Janesville, Interment will be in the Ft. Snelling National born in Janesville on Sept. 19, 1931 to David and Marie (Munz) Cahill. Edmond recently celebrated 50 years of barbering.
He is survived by his wife Lois (Koplen) Cahill; three sons, Dennis (Mary), Tim (Joan) and Mark (Vicki), and 10 grandchildren; by his brother Bob, and sisters Betty Hibbard, Mary (Paul) Knutson, and Theresa Cowdin of Janesville.
He was preceded in died Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the Madelia Community Hospital.
Memorial service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, March 20, 2008 at First Presbyterian Church in Lake Crystal, with Rev. Randal Lubbers officiating. Visitation will be 4-6 p.m. on Wednesday at Lake Crystal Mortuary. There will also be a time to visit with the family following the service at the church on Thursday. Private family burial will be in Jerusalem born November 12, 1917 in Madelia. She was the daughter of Thomas and Petra (Petersen) Johnson. Gertrude was a 1935 graduate of Madelia High School. She was united in marriage to Alvin Roberts on April 4, 1937. Gertrude later death by her parents; first husband, Alvin and second husband, Howard.
David R. Burt
David Burt age 68 of Mankato, Cemetery's rosary garden. Visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m., Tuesday with a 4:00 p.m., prayer service at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will also be held one hour before the service at the church on Wednesday. Memorials may be given to the donor's choice.
David was death by his father, Gilbert on October 21, 1971.
Charles H. Moses
Charles H. Moses, 68, of Phoenix AZ, passed suddenly on March 2, 2008, leaving many grieving family members and friends.
Charles’ beloved wife of 51 years, Pauline was by his side. Charles was born on a farm in So. Minnesota and his family often good-naturedly joked, “You can take the boy out of the country, but you can’t take the country out of the boy!” In their early years, with 6 children under the age of 9, he graduated from Mankato State University with a BA within 3 years and went on to have a very fulfilling career as CFO of companies taking him from MN to CA to AZ. His family and friends have cherished memories of his love of God and family, his humor, wisdom, integrity, and strong work ethic. Charles was a member of the Elk’s Lodge; served on the Board at Unity of Phoenix for many years and Central Phoenix Unity most recently.
His wife, Pauline, sons Tom and Mark, daughters, Diane (Williams); Juliene (Bennett); Joanne (Day) and Donna (King), brothers Robert, Michael and sister Meredith, 15 grandchildren, 2 great-grandchildren, and many more extended family, survive him.
Charles’ Celebration of Life service will be at United Church of Mapleton, 201 Troendle Street South West, Mapleton, MN 56065 on Friday, April 11th at 2:00 p.m.
