Luverne “Red” Alschlager, 84, of Mapleton, Cemetery in Mapleton. Memorials are preferred to cancer research, St. John’s Lutheran Church, or the donor’s choice.Luverne Frank was death by one brother, Arnold; two sisters and their husbands: Lavina (Charles) Smith and Elaine (Charles) Ford; one brother-in-law, Joe Annis; and one son-in-law, Dennis Schultz.
Robert G. Kimble
Robert George Kimble, age 92, of Mankato and formerly of Madison Lake, born in 1915 to Percy and Laura (Treanor) Kimble in Mankato. He graduated from Mankato Normal School in 1934. He was united in marriage to Ruth Thoen on November 19, 1938 in Robbinsdale, MN. Robert was a farmer and also ran his own feed mill, Lakeside Feed Mill of rural Madison Lake, before retiring in 1983. Robert and Ruth retired to Phoenix, AZ for several years. Robert was a member of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church and was a past deacon. He enjoyed square dancing, curling, fishing, hunting, and snowmobiling.
Robert is survived by his four children, Roberta Anton of North Mankato, Rebecca Anton and husband, John of Madison Lake, Susan Fredrickson and husband, Dale of St. Peter, David Kimble and wife, Linda of Madison Lake; nine grandchildren, Emily Anton, Christopher Anton and wife, Tina, Nicole Anton, Joshua Fredrickson, Caia Fredrickson, and Jacob Fredrickson, Damon Kimble and wife, Alison, Cybil Hassan and husband, Mohammed, Lance Kimble; eight great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews.
Robert was preceded in died, Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at her home.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, November 2, 2007 at All Saints Catholic Church, Madison Lake with Rev. Robert Schneider and Rev. Syl Brown officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Sherburn, Minnesota.Glennis born December 24, 1925 to Henry and Eleanore (Krause) Winkelman in Galena Township, rural Trimont, Minnesota. Survivors include husband, Raymond Hageman of St. James, Minnesota; daughter, Julia Rae Klatt and her husband, Wally of Madelia, Minnesota; grandsons, Jeffery Dean Olson and his wife, Deb of Minneapolis, Minnesota, Daniel Scott Olson and his wife, Barbara of Northfield, Minnesota; great-granddaughter Suzanne Olson of Jordan, Minnesota; brothers, DeWayne Winkelman and his wife, Mary of rural Ormsby, Minnesota and David Winkelman of Columbia Heights, Minnesota; aunts Vera Krause of Edina, Minnesota and Velma Fagerlund and her husband, Delbert of Faribault, Minnesota, many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
The Rev. Robert G. Esbjornson
The Rev. Robert G. Esbjornson, 89, Cemetery in the spring of 2008. St. Peter Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.“Esbj, ” as he was affectionately known by Gustavus Adolphus College students, “Bob, ” to many family and friends, and “Papa Bob” to his granddaughters, was a long-time professor of religion and a beloved campus figure. married Ruth Bostrom in 1945 while furthering his theological education at Augustana Seminary in Rock Island, Illinois. In 1945, he was ordained into the Lutheran ministry on a call to develop a new congregation in Newington, CT. During his five years of parish ministry, he took graduate courses at Yale University Divinity School, receiving a Masters of Sacred Theology in 1954. In 1950, Gustavus called Esbj to serve as a member of the Religion Department. His teaching focused on religion and its implications for social, environmental, and medical ethics. During the 1960s, he formed the Riverbend Association, a citizens’ action and regional planning group, serving as president from 1967-74.In 1979, he received the prestigious Edgar M. Carlson Award for Innovative Teaching. He was a long time member of First Lutheran Church and also served a Lutheran parish in Judson, MN, as part-time pastor for twelve years. Retiring from Gustavus in 1983, he continued teaching part-time, led retreats and church adult forums, and remained active in the campus and St. Peter communities.Bob was also a prolific writer. Even with advancing age, he maintained his participation in “Night Writers, ” a community group committed to the writing life. As a memorial to his wife Ruth, he edited a collection of her writings, Morning and Evening. In his book, Final Time, he documented Ruth’s final illness. The book reveals the depth of their relationship and the complexity of navigating an often depersonalized medical system, while lifting up the wonderful care of the people in the medical profession and the support of the church and college community.Bob had a gift for touching the lives of nearly everyone he met.He was preceded in died Sunday, October 28, 2007 at his home.Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m., Wednesday, October 31, 2007 at Church of the Nativity in Cleveland. Burial will be in Calvary born on November 1, 1917 to Anthony and Walburga (Hutter) Beer in St. Henry, MN. He attended District 104 School in St. Henry and Cleveland Public School. He drove truck for 17 years for Beer Trucking out of Cleveland, MN. He death by his parents; son, Gerald Beer in 1982; brothers, Al Beer and Martin Beer; sister, Alice (Mrs. Glenn) Eckhardt.

Doris E. Tungsvik, 80 of LeSueur and formerly of the Norseland area born on March 30, 1927 in Traverse Township, Nicollet County to Earl and Ida (Borchert) Burnett. She attended country school and later death by her husband in 1997, daughter, Sharon Egli in 1987, sister, Evelyn Gerber and 2 brothers, Delmar and Willard Burnett.She is survived by 3 sons, Dale Tungsvik of St. Cloud, Merlin (Laurie) Tungsvik of Faribault and Bob (Susan) Tungsvik of Roseville, 2 daughters, Vickie Tungsvik of Minneapolis and Arleen (Patrick) Savage of St. Louis Park, 7 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren, sister, Dorothy Lindburg of LeCenter, brother, Wilmer (Rosemary) Burnett of Janesville.Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, October 30, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Norseland Lutheran Church. Rev. Craig A. Ferkenstad will officiate. cemetery. Visitation is from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday at the Kolden Funeral Home in LeSueur and one hour prior to the services at the church on Tuesday.

Mabel E. (Gunning) Dumbeck
Mabel E. (Gunning) Dumbeck, age 90 of Janesville, Interment will be in the North Grove born on February 8. 1917 in Cannon City Township, Rice County, Minnesota to Ole and Johanna (Braness) Gunning. She attended Rice County Country School. Over the years Mabel worked as a nurse’s aid in Northfield and Willmar. She was united in marriage to Floyd M. Dumbeck on April 1, 1955 as Sacred Heart Church in Owatonna. Mabel and Floyd farmed in Waseca County near Janesville. She was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church in Janesville. Mabel is survived by her step-son Robert (Kathryn) Dumbeck of Elgin, TX, and step-daughters, Mary (Ferman) Shaw of Faribault, Margaruite (Gerald Sr.) Schendal of Janesville, and Judith (Harlan) Klankowski of Bowling Green, KY; by her nephew, William Gunning and his friend Linda Stahl of Eagan; by 12 step grandchildren, 31 step great grandchildren, and 3 step great great grandchildren; by cousins, other relatives, and friends.She was preceded in died Friday, Oct. 26, 2007, Oaklawn Health Care Center in Mankato. Services are 10:30 a.m. Tuesday at Salem Lutheran Church in Lake Mills. Visitation is 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday at Mittelstadt Funeral Home in Lake Mills and continues one hour before services at the church. Burial is in Salem Memorial born March 31, 1956 to William and Helen (Anderson) in Willmar, MN. He was a 1978 graduate of Gustavus with a degree in Business. On June 7, 1980 he death by his mother. “A Celebration of Life” will be held on Sunday, March 9th at 1:00 PM at the St. Cloud Civic Center to remember Ron who died peacefully at his home surrounded by his family on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 after a 5 month battle with cancer. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the St. Cloud Area Human Society.
