Joan Daphne Bruns
Joan Daphne Bruns, age 74, of Eau Claire, Wisconsin born on February 6, 1933 in Mankato, Minnesota to the late Johannes and Theresa (Ulsmaag) Riple. She was baptized and confirmed at Medo Lutheran Church in rural Pemberton, Minnesota. She attended schools in Pemberton and graduated from high school in 1951. Following graduation she attended business school in Mankato. In November of 1953 she was united in marriage to Wallace “Wally” Bruns.As well as being a home maker, Daphne worked for various banks, retails stores, and other businesses. During her working years, she most enjoyed being an assistant with the volunteer office of Luther Hospital for 15 years where she met Art Linkletter. She enjoyed quilting and sewing; happily doing alterations for friends and relatives.Traveling was another of her joys making many trips to Norway to visit relatives and friends. She was most proud to say that she met and shook hands with King Harold. Daphne loved being involved with and celebrating her Norwegian heritage. One of her favorite activities during the holidays was baking her specialties like: Krumkaker, Hjortebakkelser, and Julekake. She and Wally were also able to travel to many cities in the U.S. and other places overseas. Daphne liked to play golf, did some curling, loved movies, and was involved in church activities.
Daphne is survived by her husband, Wally; daughter, Deanna Farrell and granddaughter, Shannon, of Solana Beach, CA; son, James Bruns of Bessemer, MI and granddaughter, Carly of Marquette, MI; daughter, Wanda (Scott) Steinke of Eau Claire; sisters, Leola (Kenneth) Joecks of Waseca, MN, Arline (James) Kochmann of Denver, CO, Nancy Riple of Glendale, AZ; brothers- and sisters-in-laws, Merlyn (Arleen) Bruns of New Ulm, MN, Victor (Joan) Bruns of Elysian, MN, Jackie Bruns of Walker, MN, Dorothy (Carl) Wiedow of Mankato, MN; and many nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in Funeral Service will be 11:00 a.m. on Monday, December 10 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Eau Claire with Reverend Kurt Jacobson officiating. Visitation will be 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at Evergreen Funeral Home, 4611 Commerce Valley Rd. (715) 830-5470 and also one hour prior to service at church. Cemetery. Evergreen Funeral Home is serving the family.
Jason Bradley Brown
Jason Bradley Brown, 47, of Naples, Florida formerly of Waseca, Born in Waseca, Minnesota on July 9, 1960, he was the son of Grove and Carol (Braun) Brown. He graduated from Waseca High School in 1978 and later Mankato State University with a B.S. Degree in Finance. He had lived in Naples, Florida for the past 16 years where he operated a commercial cleaning business with his brother. He enjoyed baseball and other sports.
He is survived by his parents, Grove and Carol Brown of Waseca and two brothers, Randall Brown of Marco Island, FL and Jonathan (Beth) Brown of Naples, FL. He is also survived by two nieces, Jessica and Julia Brown of Naples, FL.
Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Friday, December 7, 2007 from 4-8 PM and continue on Saturday, one hour before services at the church.Funeral services will be held Saturday, December 8, 2007 at 10:00 AM at Grace Lutheran Church in Waseca with Rev. Roger W. Haug officiating. Burial will follow at Woodville died Tuesday, December 4, 2007 at Mankato House Health Care Center.
Memorial service will be 7:00 pm., Friday, December 7, 2007 at Mankato Mortuary. Visitation will be from 5 p.m. until the service time. Memorials are preferred to the Alzheimer's Association.
John was death by his parents and an infant brother.
Vivian M. Ward
St. Peter - Vivian M. Ward, age 83, of St Peter, formerly of Mankato, born March 31, 1924 at Belgrade Township, Nicollet County to Claude and Emma (Benson) Buzick. She was a graduate of Mankato High School. Vivian death by her parents, husband and 1 brother, Herb Buzick.
Irene Hansen
North Mankato resident, Irene May Hansen, 87, Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service.
Irene was married Virgil Hansen in Iowa.
She is survived by her husband, Virgil of North Mankato; son, Ronald Hansen of Wilmar; 2 daughters, Carol (Larry) Evans of Mankato, Donna Oachs of Utah; 5 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in died at her home in Seattle, Washington on November 30, 2007. A Celebration of her Life will take place on Saturday, December 8 in Seattle. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials in Nan’s honor to Save the Music, World Wildlife Fund, Audubon Society or charitable organization of the donor’s choice.
Nan was married William Rosenstein while they both worked for IBM. They moved to Los Angeles and had one child, Jennifer, in 1972. They later divorced.In Los Angeles Nan volunteered for many years for Wellesley Friends of Art, the LA Natural History Museum, Audubon of LA, and Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed playing bridge, was an avid golfer and golf fan.Nan retired in 1999 and discovered a passion for photography and travel. She became an accomplished photographer and through practice and study took many stunning photographs of wildlife and flowers, as well as of her family.
Nan is survived by her daughter, Jennifer Rosenstein Clock, son-in-law, Christopher Clock, and granddaughter, Samantha Clock, all of Seattle; brothers Bailey (Mary Jane) of North Mankato, and Peter (Nancy) Blethen of Madison Lake; a sister, Jane Blethen of Bolinas, California; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in died Monday, December 3, 2007, at Immanuel-St. Joseph’s Hospital.
Funeral services are 1:00 p.m., Friday, December 7, 2007, at Woodland Hills Funeral Chapel. Visitation is 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday at Woodland Hills Funeral Home and continues one hour prior to the service on Thursday.
Maxine was married Robert Boswell, they later divorced. Maxine was a homemaker, and later worked for Hang Ups, Boswell Greenhouse. In her leisure time she enjoyed playing bridge, Curling Club and watching Vikings and Twins games.
Maxine is survived by 4 sons, Scott (Denise) of rural Mankato, Dan (Sarah) of North Mankato, Chris of Mankato, and Mitchell (Nicole) of Elk River; 12 grandchildren, Erica, Alisa, Robby, Holli, Katie, David, Sophie, Elizabeth, McKayla, Sierra, Milayna and Gracie; 3 great grandchildren, Ava, Kiersten, Ethan; 1 brother, Tom (Van) of Phoenix, Az; 2 sisters, Patricia (Lloyd) Anderson of DesMoines, IA and Kay Campbell of Tampa, FL. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brother, William.
