Sharon E. Erickson

Sharon Emma Erickson, age 70, of Mankato, Funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, June 29, 2009 at Hosanna Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Andy Ritchie officiating. Visitation will be 2-4 p.m., Sunday at Hosanna Lutheran Church and continues one hour prior to the service on Monday. Burial will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Mankato Mortuary is handling arrangements.

Sharon was death, she moved her family to Mankato where she worked at Year-A- Round Cab for a brief time. She later managed rental properties and had recently retired.

Sharon was a member of Hosanna Lutheran Church, the Red Hat Society, and previously a member of Sweet Adeline's. She enjoyed her time with friends by talking on the phone and going out to eat, keeping up with her flowers, and spending time with her family, especially her grandson, Parker.

Sharon is survived by her daughter, Kim (Tim) Halldin of Cleveland; son, Craig Hilgers of Minneapolis; grandson, Parker Halldin of Cleveland; mother, Vera Phillips of Mankato; brother, Blaine (Renee) Phillips of St. Clair; nephews, Brad Phillips of Bloomington and Troy Phillips of St. Clair and his children Brenna and Noah; niece, Joleen Phillips of St. Clair and her son Cody.

She was preceded in died Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at Mankato House Health Care Center.

Memorial Service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Saturday, June 27, 2009 at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in North Mankato with Rev. Vance Becker officiating. Private family burial with military honors will be in Sherburn City born on April 3, 1920 in Straubville, ND to Martha Jane Murphy Baird and Charles Tharen Baird. He attended one year of High School and joined the Civil Conservation Corp. at the age of 15. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1939 and proudly served in Company D 63rd Inf. of the 6th Infantry Division in the Pacific Theatre during World War II. He was united in marriage to Lorraine Mae Johnson on April 1, 1946 in Webster, SD. They lived in Havana, ND, Edgeley, ND, Brampton, ND, Wells, MN, Blue Earth, MN, Valley City, ND, Sherburn, MN and Fairmont, MN. Charles completed four years of body and fender school in Wells and was shop foreman in Sherburn and Fairmont for 25 years. He then moved to North Mankato and worked 13 years for Lloyd Management Companies. In retirement he worked part time for both Lloyd Management and Manske Bus Service. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church and a life member of the VFW and American Legion. He enjoyed woodworking and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Lorraine; sons, Harvey (Marie) Baird of Hudson, WI, Richard (Pam) Baird of Eagan; daughters, Lona (Dennis) Larson of Sherburn, and Linda (Mike) Schwager of North Mankato; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in died Monday, June 22, 2009 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, June 26, 2009 at 10:30 a.m. at the First English Lutheran Church in Faribault, with Rev. Richard L. Jorgensen, pastor, officiating. born on February 21, 1916 in rural St. James, MN. She graduated from Lamberton High School in 1934. She then received her Normal Teachers Training and taught for two years in rural Redwood County. She was death on March 18, 1982. They farmed for many years in Lamberton, Walnut Grove, and in Iroquois, South Dakota before moving to Faribault in 1956. LaDonna taught sewing at the Singer Sewing Center and then was a seamstress for 22 years for the Minnesota State Academy for the Deaf. LaDonna loved sewing and volunteer work at the Clothes Closet. She sewed quilts and made Raggedy Ann dolls for her grandchildren. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, Faribault Aerie 1460 Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary and an active member of First English Lutheran Church WELCA.

She is survived by four children, Dorene (Eugene) Trahan and Marlene (Gordon) Bauer, both of Faribault, Delores (Donald) Widstrom of Hecla, SD, and Dennis (Corrine) Dallmann of Faribault, MN; 13 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; sister-in-law, Thelma Cambronne of Huron, SD; and many other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in died Thursday, February 26, 2009 at the St. Lucas Care Center in Faribault.

Memorial Services will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at the Congregational Church of Faribault, UCC with the Reverend Bruce Christie officiating. Cemetery in Faribault.

Memorial visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. – 10:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred to St. Lucas Care Center, the Congregational Church of Faribault, UCC, or to the donor’s choice.

Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home of Faribault.

Evelyn Inez Conklin was married Waldo Edison Broberg in Minneapolis. They had two sons Theodore Waldo and Carl Richard William. Evelyn attended the Seabury/Johnson Hall School for nurses training and later worked for the Dr’s. Haessly, Traeger, and Nuetzman in their Central Clinic. She also spent the major portion of her working life with Dentists R.M. Reed and H.M. Sauer. Evelyn also worked at her husband’s company the Waldo Broberg Feed and Seed. Evelyn loved life, her family, house and friends. She delighted in opportunities to entertain guests and visitors in her home, especially around holidays and other special events. Evelyn was a fine cook in general, but all of her guests knew her for her cookies and coffee. Her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren all have warm memories of experiencing Evelyn making and baking dozens of cookies as they observed from their perch on the red stool in the kitchen. She enjoyed gardening, bicycling, swimming, fishing, being out in nature, and stories. In her younger days, Evelyn enjoyed figure skating, high school track (held the FHS girls high jump record for many years), kitten ball and delighted in scarves, and hats. She was fond of jokes and of quoting sayings, and bits of folk lore. Evelyn also had a keen sense of humor which persisted to the very end of her life. She was an active member of the Congregational UCC Church, where she participated on many boards and committees, was a 50 year member of the choir. Evelyn was also a long time member of the Eastern Star. The family would like to thank St. Lucas Care Center for the excellent care given to their mother.

She is survived by sons Theodore “Ted” (Jo Anne) Broberg of New Brighton, MN and Carl (Susan) Broberg of Waseca, MN; by six grandchildren, Erik Broberg, Krista Broberg, Jane Al-Tamimi, Lynn Broberg, John Broberg, and Paul Broberg; by seven great grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in died Wednesday, June 17, 2009 at her home following a long battle with Kidney cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Tuesday, June 23, 2009 at 11:00 a.m. at All Saints Catholic Church in Lakeville, MN, 19795 Holyoke Ave., with the Rev. Tom Wilson, officiating. Cemetery, Faribault.

Visitation will be held at All Saints Catholic Church in Lakeville on Monday from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. and on Tuesday for one hour prior to services.

Arrangements are being completed by the Parker Kohl Funeral Home in Faribault.

Brenda Valentyn Schweisthal, the daughter of Richard and Karen (Kispert) Schweisthal, was death by her grandparents, Robert and Dorothy Schweisthal and Harleigh and Grace Kispert.

Francis P. “Frank” Mullen

Francis P. “Frank” Mullen, age 92, born January 25, 1917, Stockton, MN, and was the son of Frank J. and Sara (Madland) Mullen. He was a long time well known resident of Waseca. He attended school in Winona, MN and as a WWII veteran, served in the 9th armored division of the US Army in Belgium and Germany. After the war, he came to Waseca to work for the Chicago and Northwestern Railroad.

After retirement from the C&NW;, he worked for Connors Plumbing and Heating and then continued on as local handyman. Frank death by his parents, wife-Bernice Hackman Mullen, one brother-Gordon Mullen, and two sisters-Marge Hogan and Rose Hackman.

Visitation will be held at Kinder-Dennis Home for Funerals in Waseca on Monday, April 13, 2009 from 5-8 PM with a 7:30 PM evening prayer service and continue one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday.

Funeral mass will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Waseca on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 at 1:30 pm. Burial will follow at Calvary Cemetery in Waseca.
