Kenneth Brown
Mankato resident, Kenneth G. Brown, age 89, Interment will be in Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Memorials are preferred to Mankato Lutheran Home, First Christian Church, or to the donor’s choice.
Kenneth was married Arline Martin in Tarkio, Missouri.
Mr. Brown earned a B.S in Education & Biology, Pennsylvania State University, 1937,
M.S. in Education & Psychology, Pennsylvania State University, 1939,
Graduate studies in Botany, Plant Genetics, and Agronomy at Pennsylvania State University, 1940-42,

During his career Ken taught at various universities the most recent was as Assistant Prof., Associate Prof., & Professor of Education, Mankato State University, 1957-1980.
During his lifetime Ken was active and served in many professional and community volunteer activities;

In 1993 he was Blue Earth County’s Outstanding Senior Man and in 1992 he took 1st place in Region 9 Senior Spelling Bee.
He was a member of First Christian Church, Mankato, serving as an Elder, Editor of the monthly newsletter, and financial secretary.
Mr. Brown is survived by 2 daughters, Julia Cass of Selma, AL, Kay Norton and her husband, Bob of Anchorage, AK; 2 grandsons, Bill Norton of Anchorage, AK, and Dan Norton of New Orleans, LA; and 1 great granddaughter, Shayla of Anchorage, AK.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in died, July 19, 2004 in Mobridge, South Dakota.
A memorial service 11:00 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2004 at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in North Mankato, with Rev. Gary Wong officiating. Cemetery in Fulda, MN. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
Mavis Nichols
Mavis M. Nichols, age 83, of North Mankato, Cemetery. Visitation will be 3-5 p.m. on Saturday at Mankato Mortuary, and also one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society, the Alzheimer’s Association, or Bethlehem Lutheran Church.
Mavis was married Floyd E. Nichols on June 18, 1964 in Mankato. Mavis was a homemaker, and enjoyed sewing and crocheting, traveling and camping, birds, dancing, playing cards, and especially spending time with her grandchildren. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Mankato, where she participated in the Women’s Circles, and also River of Life and the Traverse des Sioux Trailer Club.
Mavis is survived by her four daughters, Joanne Juhlin and her husband, Donald, of Euclid, OH, Sharon Morris of Vermillion, SD, Jackie Halvorson and her husband, Curt, of Good Thunder, Jane Nichols of Prior Lake; fifteen grandchildren; sixteen great grandchildren; also many nieces and nephews.
Mavis was preceded in died Friday, July 23, 2004 at her residence. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 27, 2004, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Mankato, with Rev. Wayne Eichstadt officiating. died Monday, August 2, 2004 in Nicollet County. Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6, at Woodland Hills Chapel. born July 2, 1928 in Bernadotte Twp, Nicollet Co., MN, daughter of Albert and Ella (Ginkel) Fischer. She grew up and attended school in Nicollet County. On June 29, 1954 she death by her parents and 1 brother, Duane.
Francis James Braam
North Mankato resident, Francis James Braam, age 59, Interment will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park. Visitation is one hour prior to the service at the church. Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato is handling arrangements.
Francis was married Louise Mullis in San Jose, California and they lived there for 3 years before moving to North Mankato. Frank has worked for Katolight, Inc. in Mankato for 32 years. He was a former member of the Moose Lodge, Volksmarch Club for several years, and also the Rocky Rollers Outdoor Skating Club. In his leisure time he liked to ride bike, garden, fish, golf, smoke his pipe, and generally just putz around. He especially loved spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Louise; 3 sons, Donald (Hansja) Braam of North Carolina, Jeff (HoneySue) Braam of North Mankato, Michael (Krista Palmquist) Braam of Minneapolis; 4 grandchildren, Amanda Anderson-Braam, Joseph Braam, Alexandria Braam, Donald James Braam all of North Carolina; his mother, Lucille Braam of Mankato; 7 brothers, Donald (Jan) Braam of Mankato, Merle (Mary) Braam of North Mankato, David (Judy) Braam of Lake Crystal, John (Sue) Braam of Cleveland, Larry (Cindy) Braam of Mankato, Steve (Karen) Braam of Nicollet, Patrick (Chihiro) Braam of Washington; 3 sisters, Geraldine (Gary) Fitcher of Richmond, Joyce (Sieg) Schmid of Centenial, CO, Teresa (Louis) Yezarskie of Maryland; many nieces, nephews and other family members. He was preceded in died peacefully Sunday, August 1, 2004 with her family at her side.
Mass of Christian Burial 1:00 p.m. Thursday, August 5, 2004 at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Mankato with Rev. Richard Colletti, officiating. Burial in Calvary born May 16, 1916 to Edward and Mary (Steinbauer) Hartle in Owatonna, MN. She attended country school, graduated from Owatonna High School in 1934, and attended one year of college. She was united in marriage to George V. Wesely on June 23, 1937 in Owatonna. Mag was a homemaker for her family. She was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters, and longtime treasurer of St. John’s CCW. She was also a member of the Exchange Garden Club, several bridge clubs, and was a volunteer for Meals on Wheels. She enjoyed gardening, playing all types of cards, the Minnesota Twins, and spending time with her family.
Mag is survived by five children, Virginia Leonard of Bellevue, WA, Mary Ann (Steve) Adamson of Lake Worth, FL, Annette (Marv) Peters of Rochester, Mark Wesely (Dianna) of Mankato, Peg (John) Wade of Rochester; 15 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in died Saturday, March 20, 2004.
Services 4:00 p.m. Thursday at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Mankato, with Rev. Paul Meierding and Rev. Mary Iverson officiating. Cemetery, rural Mankato. Visitation will be Thursday two hours before services at the church. If so desired memorials may be given to Arlington Hospice Program or an organization of the donor’s choice. Mankato Mortuary in charge of arrangements.
