Edwin W. Hazard
Edwin W Hazard, age 91 of Janesville, born on February 10, 1920 in Cooperstown, North Dakota to James and Cora (Houghton) Hazard. He was united in marriage to Evelyn Hagan on December 10, 1930 in Finley, ND. Edwin was a farmer for 70 years. He owned and operated a farm in Griggs County, ND until 1968 at which time he moved to Warren, MN. Edwin worked as foreman for Jacobi Farms until he retired in 2001, and he and Evelyn moved to Elysian, MN. In 2005 they moved to Janesville, MN. Edwin was a member of the Elysian United Methodist Church in Elysian.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; by his 6 children, Cheryl (Robert) Basol of Janesville, MN, LaRayne Hall of Rock Hill, SC, Michael (Theresa) Hazard of Elysian, MN, Lynn Hazard of Mankato, MN, Dwight (Dorothy) Hazard of Kenya, Africa, and Jeffrey (Susan) Hazard of Rochester, MN; by his 12 grandchildren, 1 step grandson, and 13 great grandchildren; by is brother William (Marjorie) Hazard of Cooperstown, ND, and 3 sisters, Marjorie (Clifford) Ashland of Seal Beach, CA, Joanne Schwappach of Bismarck, ND, and Ardys Rundle of LaCrosse, WI.
He was preceded in passed away on Friday, July 8, 2011 at the Pleasant Manor Nursing Home in Faribault.
born to August and Hannah (Lundquist) Frisk. She attended rural school district #48 in Waseca County. Ruth worked on her family’s farm until she was 20 years old. She then did housework for the Deichen family for several years and worked at E.F. Johnson Company in Waseca for four years. She then moved to Minneapolis where she went to work for Munsingwear, Woolworth’s, and was a supervisor and cashier at the food counter at the Forum Café. Finally, she worked with Pilgrim Laundry Service in Minneapolis for over 20 years before retiring. Throughout her retirement, she volunteered at Mount Sinai Hospital and at the Senior Center where she did blood pressure checks. She greatly enjoyed traveling and had seen much of North America, and enjoyed playing the mandolin and the piano.
She is survived by four generations of nieces, nephews and their respective spouses. She was preceded in Interment will follow at Vista Covenant died Thursday, June 30, 2011 at University of Minnesota Hospital in Minneapolis. Visitation will be held at Schoenbauer Funeral Home in Montgomery on Tuesday, July 5 from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will be at Holy Redeemer Church in Montgomery on Wednesday, July 6 at 10:30 a.m. Burial will be at Calvary born in New Prague on March 9, 1955 to Roman and Rosie (Havlicek) Ceplecha. He attended Montgomery Lonsdale Schools and graduated in 1973. Rodney enjoyed family & friends, loved Czech heritage and Czech music, and played button accordion.
He is survived by his parents, Roman and Rosie Ceplecha of Montgomery; sisters, Rosanne (David) Novak of Minneapolis, Rita (Michael) Sullivan of Eden Prairie, Renee (Brad) Mitchell of Prior Lake; brother, Rick (Kori) Ceplecha of Elko; 5 nieces and 1 nephews.
Hazel L. Berndt
Hazel L. Berndt, age 96 of Janesville, Interment will be in the Smiths Mill born on December 5, 1914 to Edward and Clara (Youngerberg) Ziemke in Janesville Township, Waseca County, Minnesota. She was baptized on December 13, 1914 at her home by Rev. William Nickels. On August 11, 1929 Hazel was confirmed by Rev. H.A. Kuether at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill. She attended Dist. # 73 country school in Janesville Township. On September 22, 1937 she was united in marriage to Theodore C. Berndt at Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill. Hazel and Theodore resided on their LeRay Township farm for the first 8 years of their marriage and in 1945 they moved to the Ziemke Family Farm northwest of Janesville. She enjoyed her role as a farm wife and helped with many of the farm chores. After their retirement from farming in 1976, Hazel and Theodore moved into Janesville. In 2003 she moved into Park Road Plaza and most recently was a resident of the Janesville Nursing Home. She was a lifetime member of Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church in Smiths Mill and served on the Ladies Aid for many years. Hazel enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her two daughters, Sharon (Eugene) Miller of rural Janesville and Shirley (Burt) Peterson of Prior Lake; by her four grandchildren, Brian (Cathy) Miller of Estherville, IA., Benjamin (Christine) Miller of Cazenovia, WI., Bradley Peterson of Prior Lake and Brent (Dawn) Peterson of Burnsville; by her four great grandchildren, Alex Miller, Amanda Vagle, Jacob Peterson and Sarah Dunker.
She was preceded in died on Wednesday, July 13, 2011 at Benedictine Living Community of St. Peter. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, July 16 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Peter Catholic Church, St. Peter, Minnesota. Visitation will be one hour before Mass at the church. Rev. Dennis Backer will officiate. Burial will be at Woodland Hills Memorial Park in Mankato. Woodland Hills Funeral Home in Mankato is handling arrangements.
Miranda M. Sohre
Miranda Sohre, age 91 of Mankato, formerly of Good Thunder, Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, July 6, 2011 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Good Thunder, with Rev. Rudolph Maurer officiating. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Memorial Park born February 20, 1920 in Douglas County, Alexandria Township to August and Alma (Doering) Sohre. She was baptized on March 7, 1920 in Alexandria, MN. She moved to Good Thunder when her father Born; nieces and nephews, Carolyn and Al Eschmann, Dianne death by her parents; her brothers, Ervin, August, and Clarence; nephews, Gary Born.
Lawrence W. Reuvers
Lawrence W. Reuvers, age 77, of Faribault, Interment will be at the St. Lawrence born on August 14, 1933 in Faribault. At a young age he farmed with his family and later served in the United States Army. Following his military service he returned home to continue farming. He was united in marriage to Beverly Storch on July 8, 1961 at the St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Faribault. Larry was a lifelong farmer, and farmed in Forest Township since 1964, which is now operated by his son Adrian. He also dedicated his time to helping others, through building houses with Habitat for Humanity, providing assistant at St. Vincent de Paul, and took great joy in participating in the youth mission trips through Divine Mercy Church. He was a member of the Faribault Council 889 Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, and Catholic Aid Association.
He is survived by his wife, Beverly; five children, Marianne Reuvers of Prior Lake, Adrian (Kristine) Reuvers of Faribault, Jerome Reuvers of Faribault, Allen (Amy) Reuvers of Lakeville, Barbara (Brent) Stuit of Hospers, IA; nine grandchildren, Joshua (Beth), Isaiah, and Sara Reuvers, Emily, Marla, and Mason Reuvers, and Anmarie, Brayden, and Laina Stuit; two great grandchildren, Aiden and Kyler Reuvers; two brothers, James (Suzanne) Reuvers of Dundas and Thomas (Betty) Reuvers of Faribault; and many other relatives and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Joanne Reuvers and Sister Adriane Reuvers, O.S.B.
