Geraldine L. Roberts
Geraldine L. “Geri” Roberts, age 85 of Faribault, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday February 26, 2012.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, March 1st, 2012 at SS Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Mankato, with Fr. Ted Hottinger officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00-6:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 29th at Landkamer-Johnson-Boman Funeral Home and will continue one hour prior to the service at church. Burial will be in Calvary born April 18, 1916, in Halliday, ND to George A. Landwehr and Frances (McMullen) Landwehr. He was joined in marriage to Frances M. Beckel on August 18, 1941, at S.S. Peter and Paul's Catholic Church in Mankato. Rich and Fran celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this past summer.
Rich moved from North Dakota at the age of five and his family joined the SS Peter and Paul's parish. He started serving Mass at 8 years old and was a fixture for over 60 years ushering at Sunday Mass. The most memorable of those was the “Hunter's Mass” which was held at 4:30 a.m. during the duck season, and ushered in full hunting gear. During his high school years he participated on the Loyola football team and earned All–Conference honors in his senior year. He graduated from Loyola High School in 1934 and was inducted into the Loyola Hall of Fame in 1998.
Rich served in the U.S. Army Air Corp (predecessor to the US Air Force) from 1942-1946 earning the rank of Staff Sgt. prior to an honorable discharge. Upon return from duty, he continued a 48 year career with Landkamer Brothers Furniture Store, a career that eventually led to a position of Vice-President and co-owner of the firm before retiring in 1981. In his younger adult years he was an avid hunter and fisherman, but once introduced to the game of golf at the ripe old age of 57, he found a new outdoor passion that kept him active for the next 38 years. His greatest joy was watching his children succeed in whatever endeavor they were involved with at the time.
Rich is survived by his wife, Fran (Frances Beckel); three sons, Dick (Mary Ellen) of Rochester, MN, Steve (Barb) of Destin, FL, Roger (Diane) of Mankato, MN; daughter Susan Landwehr Marshall (Jim) of Minneapolis, MN; 8 grandchildren, Brian, Shannon, Colleen, John, Megan, Brent, Chrissa, Elizabeth; 12 great-grandchildren, Evan, Ben, Clare, Patrick, Nora, Josh, Natalie, Grace, Olivia, Carter, Teegan, Jaycie; many nieces and nephews; brother and sisters-in-law, Jacqueline (Beckel) Dulas of Medford, Paul Beckel (Mary Fran) of Wadena, MN, John Beckel (Vernice) of Austin, MN, Bob Beckel of Lake Washington, and Aldene Landwehr of Mankato.
He was preceded in died Saturday, February 25, 2012 at his home in Owatonna.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 2, 2012 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Marysburg with Rev. Dennis Backer officiating. Burial will be in Marysburg Catholic born in Madison Lake on October 4, 1954, to Thomas and Dorothy (Germo) Dunn. The family moved to North Mankato where Tim attended Holy Rosary Catholic School and graduated from Mankato High School in 1973. He honorably served in the Army National Guard. On October 4, 1975 Tim death by his parents and infant brother William.
Susanne Trimbo
Susanne Trimbo, age 83, of Henderson funeral service also will be at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, in Le Sueur on Saturday, March 3, 2012 at 11:00 am. Burial will be at St. Henry born on December 27, 1928 in Le Center to Paul and Margaret (O’Grady) Kehoe. She attended Country School near St. Henry and High School in Le Center.
She death by husband, Lyle; and brother, Thomas.
Arrangements are by the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center.
Melvin Hinderscheit
Melvin F. Hinderscheit, 73 of Heidelberg, Cemetery in New Prague.
Melvin was married Theresa (Simon) at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in New Prague on September 13, 1958. He was a farmer, self employed gravedigger for over 50 years, worked at the AMPI Creamery in New Prague for over 20 years and also worked at Green Giant in Montgomery.
He enjoyed tractor pulls, and helping with farming. Melvin was a member of Hart Parr Oliver Association, a KC life member, Polka club, and a member of the Heidelberg City Council for over 50 years.
Melvin is survived by wife Theresa, children; Mary Thilke and significant other Pete Grant of Fridley, David and (Joan) Hinderscheit of Northfield, Joe Hinderscheit and significant other Michelle Bachman of Lonsdale and Joanie (Doug) Filzen of Heidelberg, 11 grandchildren, and brother; Elmer Hinderscheit of Anoka.
Melvin is preceded in passed away on Sunday, December 8th, 2013 at his home in Rifle, Colorado. Services are pending with the Le Center Funeral Home in Le Center, MN. 507-357-6116.
Donald I. Kelly
Donald Ingvald Kelly, age 83, of Madelia and formerly of Butternut, Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, February 24, 2012 at Our Saviour's Lutheran Church, Butternut. Burial will be in the church born to Emil and Ida (Sandborg) Kelly, December 6, 1928, in rural Madelia. He grew up on the farm and attended school in a one-room school house. On completing his education, he began working for the Chicago Northwestern Railroad. He was drafted by the Army during the Korean War and upon his discharge he returned to the railroad for many years.
He death by his parents; step-father, Algot Nelson; two brothers, Marlow and Gordon Kelly; three sisters, Ilah Otto, Elsie Turbes, and Arlene Jacobsen; and four nephews.
Forrest Irving Glick
Forrest Irving Glick, age 77 born May 24, 1934 in Glasgow, MT to Samuel and Gladys (Beaumont) Glick. He graduated from Glasgow High School in 1952. Forrest attended St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN and graduated in 1956 Cum Laude. He attended the University of Minnesota and received his PhD of Physics in 1966. He taught summer school at the University of Minnesota from 1965-1968. Forrest death by his first wife Loretta Steffensen, Brush CO. Our family would like to thank everyone at Oak Terrace who cared for Forrest these last three years and the Hospice caregivers and volunteers. It was a comfort knowing he was in caring hands.
