Donald Warren Lambrecht
Donald Warren Lambrecht, 72, Hastings, died Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2002, in Gainesville, Fla.
Donald was born March 25, 1930, in Sleepy Eye, the son of Walter and Lucy Lambrecht. He was active in the Masons and Jaycees. Donald loved to build and fly radio controlled airplanes in Hastings and his winter home in Naples, Fla. During his professional career, he was a farmer, private investigator and sales territory manager for Hesston Farm Equipment. Donald was on his way to Naples, when he died suddenly while overnighting in Gainesville, Fla. He will be missed by his many friends and loving family. Donald will always have a place reserved for him at the airstrip where he so skillfully flew his radio controlled airplanes.
Donald is survived by his loving wife, Diane J. Cole Lambrecht; daughter, Deborah Sather, son-in-law, Lawrence and grandchildren, Aaron, Amanda, Andrew and Alan Sather. He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ramona; and sons, Donald and Dale.
Interment will be in Sleepy Eye, during the spring of 2003.
Terry M. Treml
Terry M. Treml, 38, Eden Prairie, formerly of Sleepy Eye, died Saturday, Oct. 12, 2002, at his home. Funeral services were Wednesday at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye, with interment in the church cemetery. Sturm Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Terry was born Jan. 19, 1964, in Sleepy Eye, the son of Edwin V. and Annette E. (Sturm) Treml. He grew up in Sleepy Eye and graduated from St. Mary's High School in 1982. Terry attended St. Cloud State University and graduated in 1986, with a B.S. degree in business management. Terry was the manager of Marshalls Department Store at the Mall of America in Bloomington.
Terry is survived by his parents, Ed and Nettie Treml of Sleepy Eye; brother, Todd and wife Lisa Treml and their children, Thomas and Ben of Maple Grove; sister, Liz Treml and fiance' Jamie Sobolik, both of Minneapolis; and grandmother, Angie (Schroepfer) Sturm of Springfield. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Mike and Agnes (Hillesheim) Treml and Mike Sturm.
Casket bearers were Tim Heymans, Mike Schwartz, Dean Brinkman, Greg Kuebler, Doug Arnoldi and Paul Arnoldi.
Rita Marie Seifert
Rita Marie Seifert, 75, New Ulm, died Tuesday, Oct. 15, 2002, at her home. Funeral services were Friday at The Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New Ulm, with interment in New Ulm Catholic Cemetery. Minnesota Valley Funeral Home of Gibbon handled the arrangements.
Martha was born June 14, 1916, in Albin Township, Brown County, to Christopher and Marianna (Schloegl) Sellner. On Sept. 10, 1940, Martha was united in marriage with Joseph Weber at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Sleepy Eye. After marriage, the couple lived on the farm in rural Stewart. They farmed for 30 years and retired in 1970, moving to Gibbon. Martha loved being a homemaker and enjoyed her family and crafts. She was a member of St. Willibrord's Catholic Church in Gibbon and a member of the Council of Catholic Women.
Martha is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law, Lucille and Roger Stippel of rural Aitkin, and Marilyn and Randy Buboltz of Litchfield; son and daughter-in-law, Leonard and Jennifer Weber of Lake City; grandchildren, Colleen and husband Mark Dhennin of Coon Rapids, Roger and wife Lori Stippel, Jr. of Woodbury, Mitchell and wife Margie Stippel of Portugal, Jane and husband David Peterson of La Crescent, Jill and husband Rodger Taylor of Trimont, Susan and husband Leon Bullerman of Adrian, Craig Buboltz of Saipan, and Melissa Buboltz and fiance' Dan Handorff of Rochester; sisters and brother-in-law, Clara Schroepfer and Amelia Heitzer, both residents of Divine Providence Community Home in Sleepy Eye, Catherine and Harold Johnson of Madelia, Angeline Weber of Gibbon, and Anna Hacker of Lafayette; brothers and sister-in-law, Leonard Sellner, and Clement and Dorothy Sellner, all of Sleepy Eye. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Joseph Weber on June 30, 1999; son, Jerome Weber in infancy; brothers, Christopher, Albert, William, Edmund and Florian Sellner; and sisters, Mary Moldan, Mathilda Blumhoefer and Bertha Muehlbauer.
Irene E. Meyer
Irene E. Meyer, 82, Las Cruces, NM, formerly of St. Peter, died Oct. 21, 2002, in Las Cruces, NM. She had been a resident of Las Cruces and Roswell, NM for the past 32 years.
Irene was born July 13, 1920, in Sleepy Eye, to Augusta (Engel) and Clement Pelzel. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Sleepy Eye, in 1939. Irene married Robert Meyer on June 20, 1941. She worked as a waitress at the Nicollet Hotel and Holiday House in St. Peter, before moving to New Mexico in 1970. Graveside services will be held at Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye, on Nov. 9 at 1 p.m.
Irene is survived by sons, Robert and wife Lorna of Las Cruces, NM, and Daniel of Roswell, NM; daughter, Carol Haugdahl and Dave Poncin of Cleveland; brothers, Ben Pelzel of Ludlow, Vt., Irvin Pelzel and Melvin Pelzel of Sleepy Eye; sisters, Leona B. Lowinski of Sleepy Eye, Marion Muller of Marshall, Mo., and Lorraine Tauer of Morgan; brother-in-law, Delmar and wife Melania Meyer and Donald and wife Kathy Meyer all of Sleepy Eye; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert; four brothers; one sister and one grandchild.
Cecile Marie Swenstad
Cecile Marie Swenstad, 66, Sleepy Eye, died Thursday, Oct. 24, 2002, at Fairview University Medical Center in Minneapolis. Funeral services were Monday at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sleepy Eye, with interment in Home Cemetery, Sleepy Eye. Sturm Funeral Home handled the arrangements.
Cecile was born Sept. 19, 1936, in Sleepy Eye, the daughter of Frank and Cora (Purdy) Maxwell. She grew up in Sleepy Eye and attended St. Mary's Schools. After graduation from high school, she married Omar Swenstad on Nov. 19, 1955, in New Ulm. The couple made their home in the Sleepy Eye area, where Cecile worked at Haas Press and Del Monte Foods. Cecile cooked at the Sleepy Eye Municipal Hospital for several years and also cleaned homes and businesses in the community. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church. Cecile was an avid sports fan, watching the Washington, Ky. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Alvin and LeRoy; and sisters, Wanda Pickle and Donna Tauber.
Casket bearers were Travis Meyer, Shane Heiderscheidt, Chad Swenstad, Sharisse Heiderscheidt, Heather Spitzner, Melanie Swenstad, Dustin Swenstad and Casey Hillesheim. Honorary casket bearers were Andrew Swenstad, Jessica Swenstad, Geri Lynn Swenstad, Madison Heiderscheidt and Kegan Heiderscheidt.
Charles William Biesanz, Sr.
Charles William Biesanz Sr., a lifelong member of the Winona community, passed away on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2002, at Community Memorial Hospital. C.W., or "Bill," as he was better known, was born Oct. 13, 1915, in Winona to Charles and Maude Berry Biesanz. He attended both Notre Dame Prep School and Cotter High School, and graduated with a four-year degree in economics from Saint Mary's College in 1938, where he also played football. After graduation, he went into the sand and gravel business in Stone Co., where he served as president until 1982. He remained active and interested in the stone business until the end and was always a guiding light and the voice of experience. Bill was a longtime member of the Cathedral of the Sacred Heart and was a member of the Knights of Saint Gregory. His faith was of utmost importance in his life. As a young Catholic couple, Bill and Irene belonged to the Christian Family Movement. He felt most honored to be an affiliate of the order of the Christian Brothers, as well as an affiliate of the Hermits of Mount Carmel, sharing both honors with his wife, Irene, of 59 years. Promoting vocations of religious life, he was a charter member of the Serra Club, attending meetings on a regular basis for 50 years. Bill served in many capacities during his life: past president of the Allied Minnesota Valley Funeral Homes handled the arrangements.
Elden, the son of Edmund and Minnie (Wendland) LeBert, was born Dec. 29, 1923, in New Ulm. He attended grade school in Home Township, Brown County, and graduated from New Ulm Public High School. On Aug. 30, 1945, Elden married Cleo Simmet at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church in New Ulm. After marriage, they lived in Sleepy Eye for three years, where Elden was employed at the Sleepy Eye Creamery. He then went to work as a salesman for Olewein Chemical Company and then moved to New Ulm in 1948. In 1951, Elden went to work for the Eagle Roller Mill in New Ulm, which was later sold to International Multifoods. Elden was employed as a territory manager and sales trainer for Supersweet Feeds and served in that capacity for 27 years, working out of the New Ulm office. He was later transferred to Kansas City, Mo. area, working there for about a year-and-a-half, when he suffered a severe hearing loss and decided to take disability retirement. For 11 years, Elden and Cleo spend the summer months at Grand View Lodge in Brainerd, where Cleo was employed. They spent their winters in Iowa; daughters, Michele LeBert of Winona and Joni Douglas of Winona; grandchildren, Melissa and Jason Schroeck of Minneapolis, Ian and Daisy Bullerman of Minneapolis, and Jared and Jamie Suess of Clive, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Minnie LeBert; and daughters, Renee and Margo LeBert and Brenda Schroeck.
Casket bearers were grandchildren, Melissa and Jason Schroeck, Ian and Daisy Bullerman and Jared and Jamie Suess.
