ESTER ILLIKAINEN
Esther May Illikainen, age 86, of Georgetown, Minnesota, passed away on Friday, September 22, 2006. She was born on March 28, 1920 in New Liepzig, Texas; son-in-law, Ron Boyd of Georgetown, Texas; granddaughter, Teri Lynn Orr of New Mexico; five great-grandchildren; brother, Bob Lorenzen of Minnesota.
Visitation was Wednesday, September 27, from 10 AM until 11:30 AM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake. Graveside services were held at 12:00 P.M. in Leonard Cemetery in Kalevalla Township, Texas 78759. Arrangements are with Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake.
KATHERINE "KATIE" KOSKELA
Katherine "Katie" Koskela, 90, of Cloquet, died Wednesday, September 27, 2006 in Lakeshore Lutheran Home, Duluth.
Katie was born on Setpember 21, 1916 to Richard and Kate Huisinger in Renville, MN.
She married Armas Koskela on June 15, 1955. Katie was loved and will be greatly missed by her many family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Armas; her parents; four brothers, George, Richard "Dick", Ralph and Peter Huisinger; and her sister, Ella Hisinger.
Katie is survived by her children, Doreen (Jeff) Lajiness and Randy (Jerrie) Koskela, both of Duluth; six gradnchildren, Megan, Garrett, Ashlee, Scott, Brand and Brianna; two brothers, Martin and William Huisinger; six sisters, Ralphina Dysvik, Jennie Luoma, Elizabeth Hanson, Ann Terp, Carolyn Hehikoinen and Rose Rochek and many nieces and nephews.
Services were held Saturday, September 20, 2006 at Norhtland Funeral Home in Cloquet. Burial was at Perch Lake Cemtery, Perch Lake Township.
ARNOLD MAIJALA
Arnold Maijala, 85, of McGregor, died Friday, September 29, 2006 at his home in McGregor.
He was born October 10, 1920 in Moose Lake to Henry and Hilma (Kallio) Maijala.
On December 24, 1941 in Aitkin, Arnold was united in marriage to Ruth Seilo. He worked at tree farming, trucking and owned an oil dealership. He enjoyed fishing, bowling, and traveling. He sponsored hungry children in Bangladesh for 20 years. He was a member of Grace Lutheran Church, McGregor.
He was preceded in death by 10 brothers, one sister and his parents.
Arnold is survived by his wife of 65 years, Ruth; son, Thomas of McGregor; daughter Donna Walker of Texas; two granddaughters, Anne (Zach) Graves of Hermantown and Laura Tollgaard of White Plains, Iowa to Joseph and Mary (Gangler) Nilles. Dorothy was united in marriage to Lorne Zimmer on February 12, 1941 in Remsen, Iowa and to George Christenson on May 16, 1992 in McGregor. Dorothy was a former member of Holy Angels Catholic Church of Moose Lake and a member of Red Hats. She enjoyed playing cards, dice, cribbage, gardening, quilting, dancing, bowling, cooking and especially spending time with family and friends.
Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents; husbands, Lorne Zimmer and George Christenson; 1 son, Robert "Bob" Zimmer; 2 brothers, Floyd and Edward Nilles.
Dorothy is survived by her children, Carl (Sue) Zimmer, Paul (Sharon) Zimmer, Mary Kay (Richard) Amundson, Don (Lorrie) Zimmer, Dan (Deb) Zimmer, Lou Ann Barrett and Mark Zimmer; 1 sister, Rita Plendl; 1 brother, Walter Nilles; 1 brother-in-law, Floyd Zimmer; 20 grandchildren; 22 great grandchildren.
Visitation will be Thursday, October 5, from 6-8 PM with a Prayer Service at 7:30 PM in Hamlin-Hansen-Kosloski Funeral Home, Moose Lake and will continue Friday, October 6 from 10 AM until the 11 AM Mass of Christian Burial in Holy Angels Catholic Church, Moose Lake. Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery, Moose Lake.
CLEMENS EDWARD HECKER SR.
Clemens Edward Hecker Sr. bade farewell to family and friends Saturday September 30th 2006 in Mercy Hospital Moose Lake Mn at the age of 71yrs 1mo. 14days. Clemens was born August 16, 1935 to Clarence Edward and Trilby Genevive (Spouse) Hecker at Barnum Mn, and he attended schools in Carlton County. Ever the adventurer and enjoying new experiences he toiled at various forms of employment in various states retiring from advance Machines, Plymoth Mn in 1995. He was an avid outdoors person addicted to camping and hunting with fishing as his favorite pastime. He also loved the flea market circut and helping with community services. He was friendly and helpful to all he met and enjoyed visiting with everyone. He was preceeded in death be his parents and loving wife Patricia Drusilla (Huff) and is survied by step-daughter Dawn Deanna (Huff/Hecker) Tauriainen Winsted Mn, Moose Lake Mn. Grandchildren John and Cassie Tauriainen and Granette Hecker. Six siblings Ionia May (William) Novitski, Northwood Ia, Mary Jean (James) Flasch, Zimmerman Mn, Gloria Marie Stoneburner, Barnum Mn, Vernon Louis Hecker, University Place Wa, Lennon Duane (Melva) Hecker, Moose Lake Mn, and Algernon Keith (Rose) Hecker, Anchorage Ak, and others of note Edward John, Rodney Allen, Daniel Keith and Sandra Jean Wallum, their children and grandchildren.
