Rae Ann Bertch

Rae Ann Bertch age 61 died quietly in her sleep at home the morning of March 11, 2006 outside of Floodwood, MN. Her mother was at her side. She was born on May 28, 1944 in Tulsa, OK to Thomas M. Bertch Jr. and Rae Elizabeth (Grimm) Bertch of Bartlesville, OK. The family moved to Houston, Washington High School in 1962. After graduation she continued to live at home, volunteering as a candy striper for local hospitals and working as a secretary until she moved to the family farm in Fedor, OH, her brothers Thomas M. Bertch (Susan Autio) of Floodwood, MN and J. Michael (Tracey) Bertch of Silverton, CO., Aunts, cousins, and many people whose lives she touched.

Rose Frances Teman

Rose Francis Teman, age 90, longtime resident of Duluth passed away on March 3, 2006 in St. Eligius Health Center, after a lengthy illness. She was born on February 11, 1916 to Mike & Tillie (Rosicky) Koncal in Cromwell, MN.
Rose was formerly employed by Jolly Fisher Restaurant in Duluth and Chet’s Restaurant in Duluth. She was a member of the Norton Park Methodist Church Garden Club and Women’s Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband Sidney in 1982 and her sister Martha Kent in 2003. Rose is survived by her brother Charles Koncal of Proctor, numerous nieces, nephews and friends and especially her close friend Donna.

Lonnie Todd Olson
Lonnie Todd Olson, age 42 of Cloquet, formerly of Minneapolis, died Lonnie Todd Olson suddenly on April 20, 2006 in Cloquet. He was born in St. Paul on August 29, 1963 to Donald and Hazel (Thompson) Olson. He was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa. Lonnie enjoyed cooking, making others laugh and he especially loved spending time with his two granddaughters.
He is survived by his children, Sherri Lee Bruce and Keith Allen Bruce; granddaughters, Shaylee and Shada Bruce; mother Hazel Olson; brothers, Darrin, Eugene and Wendell Olson; sisters, Sissy, Jodi and Sherry Olson, also many nieces, nephews and other relatives.
Visitation will be held starting Saturday, April 22, 2006 at 5:00 pm and will continue until the traditional service that will be held on Sunday, April 23, 2006 at 10:00 am in the Fond du Lac Headstart Gymnasium, 1720 Big Lake Road, Cloquet.

Dorothy Troutner Anderson

Dorothy Troutner Anderson age 87 of Cloquet, passed away on May 19, 2006 at Lakeview Nursing Home, Two Harbors, MN. She was born in Roosevelt Township, MN on December 3, 1918 to Thadeous & Charlotte (Ellsworth) Cooley.
Dorothy’s life was family and home. She was loved and will be missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one grandson Jon; 3 brothers; and 4 sisters. Dorothy is survived by daughters, Gail (James) Nystrom of Elk River, MN; June (Anton) Altringer of Cloquet; and Ruth Gubrud of Two Harbors; 7 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; also nieces and nephews.
A celebration of Dorothy’s life will be held at a later date in Brainerd. Interment will be in Oak Grove Cemetery, Brainerd.

Rachel E (Hill) Shanda

Rachel E. (Hill) Shanda, age 91of Cloquet, passed away on August 15, 2006 in Bayshore Health Center. She was born in Cloquet on January 17, 1915 to John and Alina (Koskela) Hill. Rachel lived in the Big Lake area. She attended and graduated from Carlton High School. She married Leo J. Shanda in Cloquet on June 3, 1937. Rachel was a homemaker through the years. She loved gardening, taking care of her yard, knitting, and reading newspapers and magazines. She was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Cloquet.
Rachel’s family would like to extend a special thank you to the Bayshore Health Center for their excellent care given during her stay.
She was preceded in death by her husband Leo, brother Larry Hill, sister Gertrude Hill and son-in-law Melvin Koskela. Rachel is survived by her children Frances Koskela of Esko, Harold (Rosalie) Shanda of Sawyer and Donald (Dea) Shanda of Two Harbors; grandchildren Jeffery (Peggy) Shanda, Gary (Kim) Shanda, Dale (Teryl) Shanda, Chris (Trista) Shanda and Beth Shanda; great grandchildren Skye, Taylor, Alyssa, Jenna, Gaitz, Tierza and Dimitri.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 21, 2006 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am Mass of Christian Burial in Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 102 4th Street, Cloquet. Interment in New Calvary Cemetery, Cloquet.

Janice M. Tindal
Janice M. Tindal, age 67, of Cloquet died on May 3, 2006. She was born on May 21, 1938 to David Michael and Katherine (Church) Couture Sr. in Brookston, MN. She was a member of the Fond du Lac Band of Lake Superior Chippewa and the Women of Moose Lodge #1274. Janice volunteered as a reading buddy at the Fond du Lac Ojibwe School. She loved to read and crochet afghans for special family members. Janice enjoyed working her word finds, and attending pow-wows. Her duties as wife, mother and grandmother always came before anything else. She also enjoyed visiting with her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Eugene (Beanie) Couture, Joseph John Couture Sr. and Julius Ambrose Couture; sister, Delores Anne Fornari; and nieces, Brenda Lee Fornari and Cindy Lou Niemi.
Janice is survived by her husband of 50 years, Kenneth Earl Tindal; daughter, Sommer (Robert) Moore; granddaughter, Cheyenne Marie Moore; grandson, Dakota William Moore; brothers, David William (Roberta) Couture Sr., Micheal George Couture and James Arthur Couture; sisters, Margaret Elizabeth (Kenny) Clark, Dorothy Elaine Yadon and Ella May Netland; also many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 8, 2006 from 5- 8 pm at Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave, Cloquet and will continue on Tuesday, May 9, 2006 from 10:30 until the 11:30 am Funeral Service also in the funeral home.
