Robert Duane Mattinen
Robert Duane Mattinen, age 70 of Cloquet passed away unexpectedly on May 8, 2006 at his lake cabin in Grand Marais. He was born on July 11, 1935 in Cloquet to Roy and Sylvia Mattinen. Bob joined the Army at age 17 and fought in the Korean War, Airborne Ranger. He worked at Potlatch as a Union Pipefitter most of his adult life, retiring in 1995. Bob was a member of the Potlatch Quarter Century Club.
Bob loved hunting, fishing, and anything that had to do with being outdoors at his Cascade Lake cabin.
He was preceded in death by his parents Roy and Sylvia. Bob is survived by two sons, Duane (Mary) and Nick both of Cloquet; one daughter, Laura Jean Mattinen of Bryan, Washington, MI and many nieces and nephews.
Bob was and is one of a kind and will sadly be missed by his family, friends, relatives and many animals. His voyage has just begun, Godspeed.
Visitation will be held on Monday, May 15, 2006 from 5 – 8 pm in Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Michigan to Victor and Anna (Ollanketo) Kauma.
He worked on a farm in Marengo, Carter Gist.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 pm until the 2:00 pm Memorial Service on Monday, September 18, 2006 in Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Texas died Thursday, Sept. 14, 2006. Norman lived a very full life while traveling in the U.S. Navy. While in the U.S. Navy, he married his first wife and together they raised four children. Norman retired at age 55 after serving 20 years in the U.S. Navy and 12 years in civil service. After the death of his first wife in 1992, he remarried in 1995 and lived in Texas.
FAMILY WILL RECEIVE FRIENDS: 12:30 p.m. until the 1 p.m. Memorial Service on Saturday, Sept. 23, 2006 in Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Washington Ave., Cloquet. Private family interment in Hillcrest Cemetery, Cloquet.

Delores V. Morton

Delores V. Morton age 75 passed away on October 24, 2006 in Brookston, MN. She was born in Duluth, MN on December 9, 1930 to Fred and Lillian (Hurdle) Bell. She attended Stowe Grade School in Gary New Duluth and graduated from Morgan Park High School. Delores was a member of St. Marks Methodist Church in Duluth and was the church pianist.
She was preceded in death by a daughter Marylen Maxine Morton.
Delores is survived by her children, Mark Anthony Morton, Charles Leroy Morton, Phillip David Morton and Gloria Ann Morton, Extended family Judith K. Johnson, Daughter-in-law Brenda K. Robinson, grandchildren, Marcus Morton, Tannesha Lynn Morton-Johnson, Timothy Morton, Evin Edward Morton and Alyssa Maxine Morton; brothers, Fred Bell Jr. of Superior, WI, Vernon Bell of St. Paul, MN and Joe Louis Bell of Los Angeles, CA; sisters, Frenchie (Moses) Mitchell of Milwaukee, WI, Venear Broden of St. Paul, MN and Marva R. Marshall of Fairfield, CA; many nieces, nephews, friends and also Sharon and Robert Shofner and family where Delores lived.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, November 1, 2006 from 9 am until the 10:00 am Funeral Service at Handevidt Funeral Home, 900 Minnesota in January of 1966. She was employed by the Cloquet Pine Knot newspaper for 25 years. Linda enjoyed knitting, jigsaw puzzles, gardening and especially traveling. She was a member of the Big Lake Golf Club, playing in couple’s league and women’s league. She had a unique friendship and involvement with the Dominican Republic people.
Linda is preceded in death by her parents, step-father Ronald Heisler, father-in-law Kenneth Johnson, sister-in-law Nancy Houtz, daughter-in-law Rita Johnson and nieces Pamela and Karen.
She is survived by her husband Dave, daughter Dana (Kevin) Erkkila, son David “Bucky” (Jenny St. Germain), grandchildren Heather and Ryan Erkkila and Dillon Johnson, brothers Paul, Dick (Claudia), and Lee (Joyce) Houtz, sister Sally Hagen, brother-in-law Duane (Marilyn) Johnson, many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday August 14, 2007 from 10 am until the 11 am Memorial Service in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church 12th and Doddrige Street, Cloquet. A lunch will follow the service in the church fellowship hall. Private family interment will be at a later date in Maple Grove Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial preferred.
