Ruth Hendrickson
Ruth Hendrickson, 98, of Cambridge, died Sunday, January 18, 2004 at Grandview Christian Home.
A memorial service was held Jan. 24 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Alden Lynch and Rev. David Widerski officiating. Organist was Carol Forsythe, with music provided by grandsons, Dennis Nelson and Joel Hendrickson. Interment was at Cambridge Union Cemetery.
She was born February 14, 1905 in Watson, MN, to John and Marie (Adamson) Peterson and was one of 11 children. She Married Ole Hendrickson in 1924. They raised their six children on a farm near Montevideo, MN. After moving to Cambridge in 1968, Ruth worked as a supper cook for nine years at Grandview Christian Home. After her husband died in 1973, she rented out rooms to single girls who needed a place to stay. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Cambridge. God gave her the gifts of hospitality and kindness. She cooked many meals for family, friends, and families in need. Her grandchildren will not soon forget her Thanksgiving dinners and Christmas preparations. She made many hand-tied quilts for family members as well as doing knitting and crocheting projects to share with others. She enjoyed reading until she suffered severe vision loss.
Ruth was preceded in death by her parents, husband Ole, 10 brothers and sisters and their spouses, as well as granddaughter, Debra Hines.
She is survived by children: Lowell (Marceline) of San Diego, CA, Muriel (Clifford) Widerski of St. Paul, Ina (Ronald) Nelson of Elbow Lake, MN, Ray (Dorothy) of Bloomington, MN, Weldon (Priscilla) of Cambridge and Wanda (Norm) Hansen of Duluth; grandchildren: Karna Tanis, David Widerski, Beth Wilson, Dennis Nelson, Cindy Nyquist, Wayne Hendrickson, Chuck Berke, Joel Hendrickson, Janet Berg, Jon Hendrickson, Joyce Osborne, Mark Hansen, and Dean Hansen; and 34 great-grandchildren.
Arrangements were with Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Richard Hardy
Richard Gordon Hardy, 80, of Cambridge, died January 13, 2004 at Bethesda Rehabilitation Hospital in Minneapolis. He had been hospitalized since Thanksgiving Day.
Services were Jan. 19 at First Baptist Church in Cambridge.
He was born July 20, 1923 in Marshall, MN. He graduated from Marshall High School and Macalester College and held a Masters Degree in education from the University of Minnesota for five years before moving his family to Cambridge in 1953 where he headed the high school music department. He became known as the kind of music teacher who invested in the lives of students. He organized band carnivals and local parades and chaperoned the annual senior trip. He retired from teaching in 1985 and was elected to the school board, which he chaired until he resigned Jan. 2 of this year for health reasons. He was active in church and community affairs including the Indianapolis, IN, and Robert of St. Louis, MO; daughter Patricia Riley of Puyallup, WA; sister Margaret Brull of Scotsdale, AZ; and seven grandchildren.
Memorial gifts may be sent to Dollars for Scholars, the local scholarship fund (Cambridge-Isanti Schools, 315 Seven Lane NE, Cambridge, MN 55008 ) or to Overseas Council, a Christian organization that serves training programs for national church leadership in developing countries (P.O. Box 17368, Minnesota and completed the nursing program. Upon graduation she began her career as a nurse. On March 31, 1951 she married Earl Walker in St. Paul, MN. The couple made their home on his family farm where they lived for 25 years. After raising three kids on the farm she decided to move back to her family farm and lived there for many more years even after retiring. Laura was a longtime member of Cambridge Lutheran Church and also attended Trinity Lutheran Church in Blue Earth while living in Winnebago. She was a talented artist, was quite involved with the local artist group and had many shows with her paintings. She was an avid flower and vegetable gardener, was well read, and enjoyed reading many kinds of books.
She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters Leona Shulstad, Lucille Kehn, Luverne Sanstrom, Lula Peterson, and brothers Robert and Raymond Reineccius.
Laura is survived by children Alene (John) Lind of Golden CO; Connie (Paul) Walker-Pearson of Cambridge; Ken (Sandi) Walker of Colorado Springs, CO; grandchildren Paul Lind, Ken Walker Jr., Katie Walker and Joey Walker; many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren; sisters Luella Lee, Lillian Wetther, Peggy Coffin all of Cambridge, brothers R. Ted (Kathy) Reineccius of Princeton; Russell (Marilyn) Reineccius of Cambridge, and Richard Reineccius of Lodz, Poland.
Arrangements were with Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Herman Bohman
Herman Walter Bohman, 62, of Bigfork, formerly of Isanti County, died as a result of congestive heart failure at his winter home in Los Indios, Texas and enjoyed their many friends (and more fishing) up until his death.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and his father, Walter Bohman.
He is survived by his wife, Patricia (Colburn) of 42 years; sons, Robert (Kathy) of Bigfork, Rick (Janie) of Isanti, Jeff (Mindy) of Milaca, and Tim (Bobbi) of Bigfork; 12 grandchildren, four great-granddaughters; mother, Alice Bohman of Marine; sister, Sonja (Ronald) True of Cushing, WI; and brother, Clifton ‘Kip’ (Linda) of Marine.

He will be greatly missed and loved always

Isabel Wicht
Isabel Liza Wicht, 90 of Cambridge, died January 15, 2004 at Cambridge Medical Center.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held Jan. 17 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Isanti with Father Jose Edayadiyil as celebrant. Gail Genin, Tony Jambor and Leona Jacques served as musicians. Pallbearers were Paul, Robert, Gene and Ron Wicht, Phil Frischmon and Tony Jambor. Interment was in Green Lawn Cemetery at Verndale, Bradford Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.
He was born October 26, 1946 to Joseph and Rose Malecha. He attended the University Of Iowa. They made their home in St. Paul and Dennis worked in construction and then in electroplating. He then started his own upholstery business as well as a locksmith business. Dennis and Toni lived in Zimmerman for over 20 years and have made Isanti their home since 1995. They also had a home on Lake Minnewawa at McGregor where Dennis loved to spend time. Dennis was a very hard working man and also a very social person. He loved family gatherings and being with his friends. He also enjoyed traveling, woodworking, fishing, watching boxing, cooking, fixing things and wintering in Iowa; sister-in-law, Marjorie Vian of Brainerd; grandchildren, David, Karla, Jimmy, Corey, Courtney, Amy, Ashley and Ian; and great-grandson, Noah.
Geneva Olson
Geneva Loretta Olson, 94, of Isanti passed died January 3, 2004 at Auburn Manor Care Center in Chaska.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 24 at Faith Lutheran Church in Isanti with Rev. Valerie Brown-Greenly officiating. Carol Affeldt and Kristy Anderson will serve as musicians. Geneva’s nephews are honorary pallbearers. Interment will be in Long Lake Community Cemetery at a later date. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.
She was born February 20, 1909 at home in St. Paul, MN to Emil and Emma Peterson. One year later, their family moved to Arizona; and by a sister-in-law, Dorothy Peterson of Isanti.
