Kenneth Haas

Kenneth Bernard Haas, 60, of Isanti, died peacefully at home March 23, 2004 following a nine-month battle with pancreatic cancer.

A memorial service was held March 28 at Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with Rev. Bill Steinke officiating.

He was born October 25, 1943 in St. Paul, MN to Kenneth and Evelyn (Hovey) Haas. Ken married Kathryn Kiteck in 1965 and they made their home in St. Paul until 1974 when they moved to Cambridge and then in 1992 to Isanti. Ken served in the Army from 1966 to 1968 and was stationed in Germany. He received his private pilot’s license in 1969. Ken had many jobs over the years. He worked for Instrument Flight Training, Federal Cartridge, Control Data and owned and operated American Motorcycle Supply and Ultra Shine Auto Detailing, both in Isanti. Ken was a lifetime Harley Davidson motorcycle rider and started the first ABATE chapter in central Florida, Marlene (Michael) Tangen of Stillwater, Deborah (Steven) Savageau of Hugo; and many good friends.

George Friez

George Friez, 91, of Cambridge, died March 29, 2004 at his home.

Services will be held at 1p.m. Saturday, April 3 from Dalbo Baptist Church with Rev. Randy Westerberg officiating. Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge and one hour prior to the service at the church. Music will be provided by the Abrahamson Sisters. Pianist will be Darlene Fixell. Interment will be in Dalbo Baptist Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Delores; children Clyde (Cheryl) Friez of Elk River, Randy (Vonnie) Friez of Cambridge, Mary (Darold) Lundberg of Cambridge, Sharon (Craig) Engstrom of Dalbo, Debbie (James) Dalen of Cambridge, Becky Friez (Donny) of Stanchfield, Dorthy (Alan) Johnson of Rush City, Karen (Brian) Hauger of Bovey, MN; 29 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and brother Leo (Dorothy) Friez of McLaughlin, SD, and many other relatives.

Amy Monette

Amy Jo Monette, 18, of Cambridge died March 25, 2004 at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis from injuries received in an automobile accident.

Services were held March 29 at Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Dennis Tollefson officiating. Michael Dee and Elaine Johnson served as musicians. Pallbearers were Gene Slama, Dan Grunwald, Brandon Ghomsen (Brando), C.J. Miller, Danny Miller and Jason Koecher. Honorary pallbearers were the Cambridge-Isanti Hockey Cheerleaders and hockey team. Burial was in Cambridge Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of Strike Funeral Home - Cambridge Chapel.

Amy Jo Monette was born February 27, 1986 in Duluth, MN to Lori Mattson and Marty Monette. They made their home in Sandstone for seven years. Amy has lived in Cambridge since fifth grade and was currently a senior at Cambridge-Isanti High School. Amy was always happy, full of smiles and pure energy. She was a very smart and social person who was active in her school, including being a hockey cheerleader. Amy loved music, especially by Linkin Park. She also enjoyed reading and hanging out with her friends and best friend Sarah Mullen. Amy was employed part time at Wal-Mart and was looking forward to attending Regency Beauty Institute in the fall.

Amy will be lovingly remembered by her mother, Lori Mattson, sister Ashley Monette, and brother Alexander Monette, all of Cambridge; by her father, Marty Monette (Vicki Jensen) and half-sister and half-brother, Brittany and Keith Monette, all of Bruno; maternal grandparents, Joanne Mattson of Finlayson, John Mattson of Mahtowa; paternal grandparents, Curtis and Lorraine Monette of Bruno.

Alex Zarecki

Funeral services for Alex James Zarecki, 70, of Braham, were held March 24, 2004 at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church with Father Nicholas Zimmer and Deacon Don Tzinski officiating. Music was by Joni Nelson. Pallbearers were Bob Marut, Gary Zych, and Joe, Scott, Tony and Kenny Benik. Interment was in the church cemetery. Military honors were provided by Braham VFW Post and Cambridge American Legion.

He was born February 15, 1934 in Stricklund, WI. and attended school in Weyerhauser, WI, graduating in 1952. Alex was active in sports, including being captain of the football and basketball teams and was in the Homecoming Royalty his senior year. In May 1952 he joined the U. S. Navy and took his basic training at Great Lakes, IL. He served two years overseas and was honorably discharged in 1956. Alex worked as a plater at Superior Plating and in 1971 began working as a plater at Hardchrome. On May 18, 1957 he married Clara at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Weyerhauser and they lived in NE Minneapolis until 1961. In 1961 they bought their first home in Blaine where they made many good friends with whom they enjoyed fishing, camping trips, bowling and golfing leagues and to this day still remain friends. In 1962, they had their first child, Allen, and in 1965, their daughter, Sandy. In 1977, Alex and Clara, along with Rod and Opal Hoving, purchased Trackside Inn where Alex enjoyed playing cribbage with his friends. The year 1996 brought much change for Alex and Clara; they sold Trackside Inn, Alex retired and they became the proud grandparents of Austin. Alex felt a very special love for Austin and nicknamed him “Bugsy.” Alex was a member of the Braham Moose Lodge, Weyerhauser VFW, the American Legion and Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Braham. He enjoyed reading westerns, watching the Twins, Timberwolves and Green Bay on T.V.

Alex died March 20, 2004 at Cambridge Health Care Center.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alexander Zarecki and Victoria Walicki; stepdad Adam Walicki; brothers Lawrence, Ronny and Kenny and by his grandparents.

He is survived by his wife Clara of Braham; son Allen (Brenda) of Cambridge, and grandson Austin; daughter Sandy Zarecki of Braham; sister Vicki Olszewski of New Berlin, WI, and special family friend, Delores Lucht of Braham.

Arrangements by Rock Mankie Burial & Cremation Services of Braham.

Renata Falk

Renata Alice Falk, 88, of Isanti died at Jim and Nancy’s Elderly Foster Care in rural Isanti March 27, 2004.

Services were held March 30 at St. John Lutheran Church of Weber with Rev. Kevin Zellers officiating. Organist was Elena Piastro. Pallbearers were Keith Asklund, Lloyd Eastlund, Rick Evenson, Tom Smith, Skip Soderberg and Mike Sullwold. Interment was in St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Arrangements were entrusted to the care of the Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel.

She was born November 15, 1915 in North Branch Township to Edward and Elsie Splittstoser. She was raised on the family farm near North Branch and attended Isanti District 13 school from 1923 – 1931. She was confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church of Weber June 8, 1930. Renata worked at various jobs from 1943 to 1954. On December 15, 1956 she married Bertel Falk and they lived in rural Isanti. Renata loved to cook, garden and raise flowers. Renata and Bertel had no children. Her husband, Bertel died August 17, 1995. Renata moved to a health care facility and lived there until her death.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Bertel; brother, Raymond Splittstoser; a brother who died in infancy; and sisters, Loida Henricks and Gertrude Splittstoser.

She is survived by her brother, Alton Splittstoser of Cambridge Health Care Center; nephew, Glenn (Joyce) Splittstoser of Dalbo; nieces, Elaine Mold of North Branch, Irma (Frank) Parzyck of Buyck, Arizona.

Kenneth Field

Kenneth Raymond Field, 40, of Minneapolis died March 28, 2004 at his home in Minneapolis.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, April 2, 2004 at the Strike Funeral Home – Isanti Chapel with Rev. Mark Radeke officiating.

He was born January 19, 1964 in Minneapolis to Richard and Carol (Craypo) Field. Ken had many occupations during his life, but his last was his own commercial/residential cleaning company. He also had many hobbies, but some of his favorites were his plate collection, the outdoors, music, trains and traveling with his dog, Docker.

Ken was preceded in death by his father, Richard A. Field and by three grandparents.

He is survived by his mother, Carol J. Field of Isanti; brothers, Albert M. Field of Minneapolis and Bradley R. (Bridget) Field of Ham Lake; sisters, Brenda E. (Bill) Arenz of Cambridge, Peggy S. (Tim) Moore of Cambridge, Julie A. (Kenny) Bryant of Ham Lake; nieces and nephews, Joshua Moore, Jessica (Bob) Peterson, Jacklyn Field, Crystal Field, Nathan Moore, Daniel Hines, Dana Hines, Sean Moore and Mason Bryant; great-nieces and nephews, Kane Moore, Breanna Adams, Arizona; brothers, Chuck (Darlene) of Anoka, Steve (Carla) of Maple Grove, and Dean of Osseo; sisters, Cheryl (Dean) Heckenlaible of East Bethel, Cindy Hagen of St. Francis, and Ruth (Bob) Cramblitt of Ramsey; step-brother James Beckenbach and step-sisters, Janet LeBaron, and Betta and Rhonda Beckenbach.

Bette Dickenson

Bette Jane Dickenson, 62, of Isanti, died March 16, 2004, in Minnesota to William and Margaret Zacharda. She was raised and attended school in Elk River. Bette made her home in Blaine for several years before moving to rural Isanti five and-a-half years ago. She was employed by Honeywell for 28 years. Bette loved her grandchildren and going to their activities. She enjoyed garage sales, collecting old dolls and antiques.

Besides her parents she was preceded in death by her daughter, Carrie and sister, Mona Lockwood.

She is survived by children, Debbie Becker of St. Cloud, Loues Dickenson of Arizona for two years. He owned a business in Chicago where he was a partner of the Lake-n-Park Night Club. He moved back to Minnesota and ran an auto business in the Twin Cities. He later returned to the restaurant business and was co-owner of Pine Brook Inn with his brother Allen. Richard enjoyed golfing and fishing.

He is survived by his son Michael of Aurora, IL; parents Martin and Agnes Hochhauser of Palm City, FL; brothers Lanning (Sara) Hochhauser of Hinsdale, IL; Allen (Linda) Hochhauser of Cambridge; Daniel Hochhauser of Westmont, IL; James Hochhauser and special friend Joanne of Port St. Lucie, FL.

Memorials preferred to Michael Hochhauser Memorial Fund c/o Pine Brook Inn, 34063 Roanoke St. NW, Cambridge, MN 55008.

Mark Strait

Mark Charles Strait, 61, of Moundsview, formerly of Cambridge, died unexpectedly May 25, 2004 at his home.

A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12 from Cambridge Lutheran Church with Rev. Andrew Romstad officiating. Gwen Anderson, accompanied by Mary Kay O’Neill will provide the music. Honorary pallbearers will be David, Brian, Deneen and Denise Strait and Doreen Gustafson. Interment will be in Cambridge Union Cemetery.

He was born March 20, 1943 in Cambridge, MN to M. Clinton and Amy (Peterson) Strait. He grew up in Cambridge and attended Cambridge High School, graduating in 1962. He worked for Valspar Corporation for 26 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Ronald.

Mark is survived by brothers Richard (Mariea) Strait of Siren, WI; Dean (Sandy) Strait of Cambridge; stepbrother Daryl (Betty) Forsberg of Esko, MN; nephews David and Brian Strait; nieces Deneen and Denise Strait, and Doreen (Doug) Gustafson.

Memorials preferred to American Diabetes Association.

Arrangements with Carlson-Lillemoen Funeral Home in Cambridge.
