She was born April 8, 1925 in South Minneapolis, MN to Fred and Ellen (Sigfredson) Jacobson. She grew up in South Minneapolis, graduating from South High School. After graduation she worked at Sears on Lake Street and went on to graduate as an X-ray technician from Abbott-Northwestern Hospital. She was employed 30 years at Radiologist Associate Office at Southdale, and later at Cambridge Memorial Hospital. Before and after retirement she lived at her parent’s home on Lake Fannie until 2003 when she moved to River Hills. During childhood and adult years she attended Sunday school and church at Bethlehem Baptist Church in South Minneapolis. She accepted Jesus, was baptized and became a faithful member until moving to Cambridge where she became an active member of First Baptist Church. Childhood friends commented “Betty was the most faithful in attendance at Sunday school and youth gatherings.” Betty was known for her generous and gracious gift of hospitality. Many friends discovered her artful talent as a Swedish gourmet cook, baker and dessert designer, her table always elegantly set and decorated whether a big dinner feast or a cup of coffee. She often said “We will have coffee”. She never forgot friends’ birthdays with beautifully decorated cake and candles. Betty loved children, this was evident in the many years she had an Easter egg hunt for the neighbor children. She loved her niece and nephews. She would take a vacation day to take each, one at a time, to baseball games at the old Met Stadium and other such activities throughout the children’s early years. She loved mowing and keeping a nice lawn and enjoyed growing raspberries. Betty traveled with tour groups to Europe, England, Alaska and other trips in the states. She was never a complainer or one to have self pity even though in later years she didn’t feel the best. Betty loved her Lord; she had pride and love for Cambridge and the church, loved Lake Fanny, loved people and loved to laugh!

She was a very loving and nurturing person who had an unconditional love for every person she knew. Her favorite things to do were to travel and spend time with her friends and family. Her laughter and love enriched everyone’s life she touched. Her warmth, caring and understanding for children had every child she knew calling her Grandma.
