Effie Krotz
Effie May Krotz, 103, of Coin, died at Cambridge Medical Center December 28, 1999, three days shy of having lived in three centuries.
Services were held Dec. 31 from Rock Mankie Funeral Home in Braham with Rev. Michael Flynn officiating. Pallbearers were her grandsons. Burial was in Oakwood Cemetery in Mora.
She was born in Logan County near Cornland Ill. March 9, 1896, the third of four children born to Herman and Mary Fulcher Broehl. When she was seven, she moved with her family to Perry, IA on an immigrant train. Her mother died when she was 11 and the family then moved to Washburn, N.D. At 15 she worked various places going to Bismarck where she could work days and go to school at night and then to Normal School at Valley City, N.D. She had just begun to teach school when she married Charles Krotz January 8, 1918. After the death of Charles in 1950 she said, “He left me with something better than money which was a way of making a living” and with the help of her sons, she continued at first her helping them and then they taking care of her on the farm. She was the mother of seven children; Walter (Mary Ann); Harvey, Roland; Doris (Gerald) Dybdahl; Kenneth; Mary (Lawrence) Mans; and Eldon; 14 grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren and her sister-in-law, Myrtle Broehl.
She was preceded in death by her son, Roland, in 1991; daughter, Doris in 1996; sister, Edith; brothers, Ralph and Edmund; granddaughter, Kelly Ann of Minneapolis and great-grandson, Kevin, of North Dakota. She will be remembered by her friends and family for her friendly disposition and interesting, witty conversations. She loved her family and friends and was always there when she was needed.
Carine Hillock
Carine Ramlo Hillock, 78, of Isanti, died at Cambridge Medical Center January 2, 2000.
A private graveside service was held at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery with Rev. Clell Bone officiating.
She was born in Hendricks, MN. March 24, 1921 to Peter and Inga Ramlo. She was raised and attended school in Hendricks and then moved to Minneapolis. On November 7, 1942 she married C. Kenneth Hillock and they lived in Minneapolis until 1978 when they moved to Mora. In October 1998 they moved to Isanti. Her husband, Kenneth, died December 11, 1998. Carine’s hobbies included gardening and sewing. She loved being with her grandchildren and participating in all of the family activities.
She is survived by her son, Charles Hillock Jr. and his fiancee, Lauri Morgan, of Isanti; daughter, Sandra (Don) Ellenwood of East Bethel; grandchildren, Charles Hillock III of Minneapolis; Peter Ellenwood of Savannah, GA; Kelly Hillock of Blaine and Paul (Joelene) Ellenwood of Ham Lake; and by three brothers and three sisters.
Arrangements were with Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.
Edna Lundquist
Edna Regina Lundquist, 85, originally of Braham, died at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge December 27, 1999. She had been a resident at Grandview since August 1989.
Services were held Dec. 30 from Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church in Braham with Pastor Richard Chronis officiating. Burial was in Rice Lake Lutheran Cemetery with Alan, Ted and Jonathan West, Ben and Josh Lundquist and David Healy as pallbearers.
She was born in Kelliher, MN January 15, 1914 to Steven and Mary Siegel. She married John Franklin Lundquist June 25, 1935 at the Braham Evangelical Lutheran Church parsonage. Together they farmed and raised their family in rural Braham.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; brother, William Siegel; sons, Wilford and John; daughter, Cathryn and grandson Erik Lundquist.
She is survived by sons, Allan (Lola) of Santa Clara, CA; and Lyle (Kathy) of Andover; daughter, Mary Elaine (Ron) West of Burnsville; daughter-in-law, Norma Lundquist of Blaine; son-in-law, Robert Livingston of San Jose, CA; sister, Mary Abbigol Grant of Bend, OR; grandchildren, Laura Healy, David and Matt Lundquist; Kendall and Allison Lundquist; Alan, Ted and Jonathan West; Aaron and Nathan Livingston; Ben and Josh Lundquist; great-grandchildren, Trevor, Austin, and Derek Healy and Kayla Livingston.
Arrangements were with Rock Mankie Funeral Home of Braham.
Floyd Hubacher
Floyd Clarence Hubacher, 73, of Cambridge, died December 27, 1999 at Cambridge Health Care Center.
Services were held Dec. 31 at North Isanti Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Larson officiating. Mary Falk and Joyce Swanson were the vocalists and Lois Larson served as organist. Burial was in the church cemetery with Rick Gully, Ben Hubacher, Jeffrey Borka Hubacher, Charles and Jesse Mistelske and Michael Smith as pallbearers. The Isanti VFW Post and Cambridge American Legion provided the color guard.
He was born in Mason City, IA. October 5, 1926 to Clarence and Mabel Hubacher, He was raised in Mason City where he attended school. Floyd then enlisted in the Navy and served on the SS Siever. On March 16, 1947 he married Gladys Wigdahl and they lived in South Dakota where he was employed as a crane operator at Western Contracting and Beasley Corporation. He worked on major dams and bridges in South Dakota as well as a bridge over the Panama Canal. He also worked on the missile bases in Iowa. On June 20, 1935 she married Don S. Gordon at LeMars, IA. They made their first home in Thompson provided the music. Burial was in Lakeside Cemetery.
She was the wife of William T. Curran for over 25 years,, the mother of Gordon (Deborah) and Robert Moskal and the stepmother of Pamela (John) Novak and Ted Curran. She was active in Boy Scouts in Berwyn, IL with her two sons and active in the Westchester Community Church prior to her first debilitating stroke in 1994. She was also a local judge of elections in Westchester and served as a volunteer at Proviso West High School for many years. She was born in Oxlip Township April 12, 11917 to Axel and Helen (Stanius) Anderson and retained strong personal relations with family and friends in the community in which she grew up. She returned often to the family farm and co-wrote a social column for the Isanti News during many of the summer months she spent in the community.
She was preceded in death by her brother, LeRoy.
She is survived by her children, Ted, Gordon, Pamela and Robert; grandchildren, Louis Mategrano, Mary Therese Stark and John David Novak; great-grandchildren, Taylor and Bailey Stark; son-in-law, John Novak; daughter-in-law, Deborah Moskal; her granddaughter’s husband, Brian Stark; and relatives in Chicago and N.Y.; Susan (Reon) Moraga of Florida; sister, Mary Peterson of Plattsville, WI; 15 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
Delores Danielsen
Delores Estelle Danielsen, 76, of Cambridge, died January 3, 2000 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge.
Services were held Jan. 7 at Grandview with Chaplain Paul Reynolds officiating. Music was provided by Nancy Peabody. Burial was in Cambridge Union Cemetery.
She was born in Great Falls, Mont. October 3, 1913 to Jasper and Jeanette Johnson. Delores moved to Cambridge as a child and graduated from Cambridge High School. She moved to Minneapolis where she worked at the Twin Cities Arsenal for five years. She married Russell Danielsen March 31, 1945 in Minneapolis. Russell preceded her in death in 1991 and Delores soon moved to Grandview Christian Home. She enjoyed being with her family and friends at Grandview.
She is survived by her daughter, Candace (Duane) Doughty; grandchildren, Todd and Nicole and great-grandchildren Page and Morgan.
Arrangements were with Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Lucille Britz
Olive Lucille Britz, 86, of Cambridge, died January 6, 2000 at Grandview Christian Home in Cambridge.
Services were held Jan. 8 at First Baptist Church in Cambridge with Dr.. Ronald Ekerholm and Rev. Paul Lundgren officiating. Carol Sperry, accompanied by Nadette Waligora, sang “When We Come To The End Of The Road,” “Until Then,” and “I Shall See Him, I Shall Know Him.” Burial was in Sunrise Cemetery in Sunrise, MN. with Dehl Lindstrom, Robert Reierson, Dewey Nordgren, Ross Caster, Robert Young and Steven Lindstrom as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Bill Murray, Dick Scheele and Kenneth Norquist. Host and hostess were Dr. Kermit and Eunice Ericsson and Dr. Paul and Faith Finley. Special music was also provided by David Joyce. Patrick and Eric Lemieux each presented a rose to Lucille’s brother, Elias.
She was born in Sunrise, MN. August 27, 1913 to Annie (Boyce) and Elias Nordgren. At age six she moved with her family to North Branch where she completed 12 years of schooling with an additional year of business training at Minnehaha Academy. Lucille’s first employment was as a deputy clerk of court in Chisago County and for 10 years in the Secretary of State’s office at the state Capitol. Going to Detroit, MI. she served as an accountant and assistant to the executive secretary of the Detroit Baptist Missionary Society (American Baptist Convention.) She returned to North Branch in 1951 due to the illness and ensuing death of her parents. She managed the office of the newly-established Branch Mfg. Co. On September 14, 1957 she married Irving W. Britz and they made their home in North Branch where they were active members off the United Methodist Church. Until her retirement in 1975 she was employed in the administration office of Dist. 138 North Branch schools. She and her husband moved to Cambridge in 1986 and purchased a home in Pine Village. At that time they joined First Baptist Church and participated in the fellowship there. For several years she lived at Mill Ridge Commons and at Grandview.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters and two brothers.
She is survived by her brother, Elias Nordgren and sister-in-law Lenore of Moundsview; and sister-in-law Alida Nordgren of Spring Lake Park.
