Raymond Anderson
Raymond H. Anderson, age 93, of Stanchfield, died April 2, 2000 at the Cambridge Health Care Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, April 6 at Braham Ev. Covenant Church. The Rev. LaVerne Swanson and Rev. Dick Williams will officiate. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4-9 p.m. Wednesday, April 5 at the Rock Mankie Funeral Home in Braham and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday.
He is survived by his son, Earl (Lucy) of Stanchfield; daughters Irene (Dean) Hedberg of Pine City, Vicki (Marvin) Carlson of Braham, Doris (Donald) Mullins of Cambridge, 21 grandchildren, 50 great-grandchildren, nine great-great-grandchildren, sisters Hattie Wilson of Cambridge, Hortense (Arnold) Erickson of Cambridge.
Lenore Sundberg
Lenore Caroline Sundberg, 89, of Anoka, formerly of Cambridge, died March 20, 2000 at the Good Samaritan Home in Anoka.
Services were held March 24 from North Isanti Baptist Church with Rev. Jonathan Larson officiating. Shirley Budke and Rev. Larson provided the music with Lois Larson as organist. Burial was in the church cemetery with Scott and Stacey Nelson, Shelayne Zeidler and Ken and Greg Sundberg as pallbearers.
She was born in Cambridge May 18, 1910 to Emil and Hannah (Falk) Okerstrom. She grew up in the Cambridge area and on September 16, 1933 married Willard Sundberg at South Isanti Baptist Church. The couple lived in the area for some time before moving to St. Paul and then to Coon Rapids. Lenore worked as a cook for many years at Bethel College. Willard preceded her in death October 15, 1985. She was a member of North Isanti Baptist Church and while living in St. Paul attended Central Baptist Church. She attended Elim Baptist Church in Isanti while living in Coon Rapids.
She is survived by her son, Adrian (Jan) Sundberg of Anoka; daughters, JoAnn (Don) Wright of Tokyo, Japan; Elaine (James) Nelson of Cedar; eight grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren and sisters, LuVerne Peterson of Cambridge; Norma Hjeltman of Cambridge and Gladys Kaltenhauser of Lindstrom.
Arrangements were with Carlson-Labatte Funeral Home in Cambridge.
Gordon LaRowe
Gordon Clifford LaRowe, age 61, of Cambridge, died March 30, 2000 at his home.
Services were held April 3 at Elim Baptist Church with Rev. Roger Anderson and Rev. Randall Westerberg officiating. Howard Doble, accompanied by Marleen Hartzell, sang “There’s Just Something About That Name” and “In The Sweet By And By.” The pallbearers were Dale Anderson, Duane Bousbee, Sydney Dahlin, David Kawalek, Don Pearson and Wade Peterson. Interment was in Isanti Union Cemetery.
He was born September 4, 1938 at Montevideo to Raymond and May LaRowe. He was raised and attended school in Minneapolis, graduating from West High School. Gordy then served in the Coast Guard for two years. After the service he moved to the Isanti area. On March 17, 1961 he married Diane Hendricks. They made their home in the Cambridge area. Gordy worked in road construction for 18 years until 1978 when he began to farm full time. He farmed until his health prevented him from doing so in 1998. Gordy was an active member of Elim Baptist Church of Isanti for several years. His biggest enjoyment at Elim was the period that he served as a senior high youth group sponsor, participating in their activities and going on the summer trips. He enjoyed farming, hunting, fishing, and especially all of the family activities.
He is survived by his wife, Diane, of Cambridge; five children, Scott (Kristi) LaRowe of Isanti, Cynthia Johnson of Isanti, Virginia (Randy) Westerberg of Dalbo, Elizabeth (Donny) Neisen of Cambridge and Grace Mattson of Isanti; by 15 grandchildren; three sisters, Audrey (Alvin) Anderson of Aberdeen, South Dakota, Avis (Ivan) Peterson of Mesa, Arizona and enjoyed their time together. He will be remembered with love by his children.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Lydia; daughter, Shirley; sisters, Hazel, Helen, Harriet and Heloyse and by his brothers, Reynold and Russell.

Lois Malmquist
Lois Jeanne Malmquist, 59, of Coon Rapids, formerly of Isanti, died April 10, 2000 in Minneapolis.
Memorial services have been scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday, April 14 at Washburn McReavy Seman Chapel, 1827 Coon Rapids Blvd. in Coon Rapids. There will be a private family burial.
She was born in Isanti Township of Isanti County, June 6, 1940 and was employed in the insurance industry. She was an avid golfer and member of the Keller Women’s Golf Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Evelyn Malmquist.
She is survived by her special friend and caregiver, Randy Glasmann; brothers, Ronald (Beth); Keith (Linda) and their daughter, Heather; stepmother, Lucille; and several step brothers and sisters.
Rev. William VanAntwerp
Rev. William Woodrow VanAntwerp, 77, of Cambridge, went to be with the Lord suddenly April 3, 2000.
Services were held April 7 from First Baptist Church in Cambridge with Rev. Paul Lundgren and Rev. Walt Berg officiating. Eunice Hupfer, accompanied by Claudia Hardy, sang “Day By Day.” The congregation sang “Great Is Thy Faithfulness” and “Victory In Jesus.” Burial was in Ft. Snelling National Cemetery with B.J. Slinger, Carl Anderson, Harley Olson, John Kramer, Lorne Anderson and Dave Nichol as active pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were Kermit Nordeen and Vernon Olson.
He was born in Oradell, N. J. June 1, 1922 to Louis and Josephine (Reardon) VanAntwerp. He grew up in Oradell where he graduated from Dwight Morrow High School. After high school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he served for six years during World War II. While in the Navy he met and married Ethel Johnson who later died during childbirth. Still in the Navy and stationed in Iowa, Karmel Covenant Church in Princeton, Waconia, MN. and Rochmond, CA. where he retired in 1989 and moved to Cambridge and began his interim ministry for the next 11 years serving in nine different churches in Wisconsin. He thoroughly enjoyed studying and spreading God’s word; he loved to incorporate stories into his word, make people laugh, and play jokes. He devoted 40 years of his life doing what he loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Ethel and their unborn child; brother, Dan and by his stepmother.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 50 years, Alvina of Cambridge; daughter, Kathy (Bob) Helvey of Little Rock, AR; son Steve (Mary) Van Antwerp of Brooklyn Park; grandchildren, David, Aimee and Vicki VanAntwerp; and Jessica, Stephanie and Robert Helvey; half-brother, Peter (Sarah) VanAntwerp of Arlington, Wyoming, MN; brother, Dennis (Paulette) of Forest Lake; sisters, Carol (Jeff) Warmboldt of St. Cloud; Barbara (Curt) Lugert of Ramsey and Donna (Nuelan) Midkiff of Stacy.
Florence Olsen
Florence Flossie L. Olsen, 98, of New Hope, formerly of Cambridge, died peacefully April 14, 2000 while her grandson-in-law, Tim, read the Bible to her at Northridge Care Center in New Hope.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, May 1 at Cambridge Lutheran Church.
She was born in Gladwin, Mich. November 1, 1901 to Walter and Annie Walker. She graduated from Gladwin High School in 1918, attended college at Ypsilanti Teachers College and taught school for five years in Iron Mountain. Mich. On June 17, 1929 she married Arden Olsen in Gladwin and they moved to Duluth where Arden worked for Stone as pallbearers.
She was born in Illinois before moving to Minnesota. Following Ross’ death she remained in Bethel and became a resident of Grandview Christian Home a couple of years ago. Prior to moving to Grandview, she was the oldest resident of Bethel and was honored as Grand Marshall of the Bethel Day’s parade.
She is survived by her niece, Sister Imelda Laub of Cincinnati, Stone of St. Francis and Verna Mae and Chuck Mickelson of Cedar.
Arrangements were with Strike Funeral Home-Isanti Chapel.
Walter Sundstrom
Walter Hjalmer Sundstrom, 75, of Coon Rapids, died April 12, 2000 at Fridley Convalescent Center after a short battle with cancer.
Services were held April 15 at Spring Lake Park Baptist Church with Rev. Bruce Nelson officiating. Eleanor Leitte sang “My Saviour First of All” and “Jesus Lead Me All The Way.” The congregation sang “Because He Lives.” Betty Dean served as pianist and Virginia Dischinger shared a time of reflections. Burial was in Fridsborg Cemetery in East Bethel with Ron Berglund, Gary Larson, Greg Lindberg, Jeff Lindberg, Richard Trembath and Thomas Trembath as pallbearers.
He was born in Soudan, MN, July 11, 1924 to Hjalmer and Johanna Sundstrom. He grew up in Soudan and graduated from Tower-Soudan High School in 1942. Walter then served his country in the U.S. Army Air Force where he was a sergeant. He then graduated from Virginia Junior College and Dunwoody Institute with a degree in Architectural Science. On November 28, 1959 he married Gloria Lindberg at Bethel Baptist Church in Minneapolis. They have lived in Coon Rapids ever since. Walt worked for the Unisys Corporation for 22 years. He will be remembered for his dedication to his church, his love of the outdoors and his love of music. Walt also enjoyed fishing, hunting and golfing.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his loving wife, Gloria (Lindberg) Sundstrom, formerly of Isanti; sisters, Pearl Sundstrom of New Hope and Edith (Jim) Trembath of Tower.

Mary Skogman
Mary E. Skogman, 60, of Guffey, CO. formerly of Isanti County, died April 16, 2000 at Sioux City Hospital in Minnesota in Duluth. She received her Masters Degree several years later. She started teaching at Tinley Park High School in Tinley, IL. and then taught for 31 years at Lake Zurich High School in Lake Zurich, IL. She retired from that position in 1994. Upon retirement she built a mountain home near Guffey, CO. For the past several months she has lived in Alcester, S.D. to be closer to her family. She enjoyed the outdoors and traveling.
She was preceded in death by her sister, Nona Stadin.
She is survived by her sister, Kathleen (Daryl) Runion of Alcester, S.D.; brothers, Carl (Gladys) Skogman of Stanchfield and David (Judy) Skogman of Bettendorf, IA; 11 nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Rene Stadin of Sandstone; and special friend, Ann Burgess of Guffey, CO.
Arrangements were with Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City, IA.
Deloren Sandstrom
Deloren Donald Sandstrom, 86, of Stanchfield, died April 4, 2000 at Fairview Lakes Regional Medical Center in Wyoming. He also enjoyed attending his annual Army reunions.
He was preceded in death by his wife, LuVerne; brother, Randolph; sisters, Ethel and Myrtle.
He is survived by his son, Danny Sandstrom of Stanchfield; daughters, Kathleen (Michael) Szczech of Cambridge; Jane (Michael Dougherty) Dougherty Sandstrom of Isanti; and Mary (Hugh) Ruffing of Phoenix, AZ; his sister, LaVern Dillon of San Antonio, Arizona and both loved to go dancing. Rookie served on the Cambridge Town Board for many years. He was responsible for donating the park land on the west side of the Rum River when he sold property to Cambridge Community College.
He is survived by his step-daughter, Corinne (Pat) Kelly of Forest Lake; stepson, Gayland (Cecelia) Hokanson of Raleigh, N.C.; step-grandchildren, David (Jennifer) Wolff of Roseville and Karl (Kirsten) Hokanson of Eugene, OR; sisters, Martha Axell of Cambridge; Ruth Onoratu of Lake Tahoe, CA; and Millie (Delmer) Erickson of Cambridge; nieces and nephews, Elaine Ashford of Minneapolis; Janet Axell of Kodiak, Alaska; Stewart Cole of Highland Park, IL; Karl Brethorst of Cambridge; Barb (Terry) Baar of Isanti and Bev (Tim) Hanna of Cambridge.
Memorials to Cambridge Lutheran Church are preferred.

Theodore Lundberg
Theodore (Ted) Lundberg, 88, of LaHabra, California, originally of Isanti County, died April 15, 2000.
Services were held April 20 at Lutheran Church of the Master in LaHabra, CA. with a full military burial at Memory Garden Memorial Park in Brea.
Ted was a loving husband and a doting father and grandfather. He had seen this century pass with all of its enormous change. Early on, Ted took life by the horns and contributed much of his life to ensuring the country in which he was so proud changed for the better. In 1942 Ted entered Officers’ Candidate School and then was commissioned as a U.S. Army officer. He served in the Pacific Theater of Operations during World War II. He remained in the Army from 1945-1948 serving in the Philippine Islands after the war. Ted continued to serve in the U.S. Army Reserve retiring in the late 1960s at the rank of Major. Ted joined prominent real estate appraiser Cedric White Jr. to form a prestigious real estate appraisal firm in Anaheim, CA. Their association lasted many years and their firm was well-respected in the industry. Among their many accomplishments was the appraisal of the entire downtown Anaheim area for the city.
Ted married Louis Ann Lundberg in 1954. They made their home in LaHabra and remain one of the most famous and respected families in that city. Together, they helped to shape the landscape of Orange County politics. Lois became chairman of the Republican Party of Orange County in 1976 while Ted assisted behind the scenes and created the opportunity for Lois to devote herself full-time to the cause. They had two daughters, Linda Lundberg and Sharon Lundberg Stramler, both who live in Orange County. Ted enjoyed working around his home and playing with his granddaughters. He was also active in the Orange County World Affairs Council and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. A proud man, Ted remained independent and vital until the very end of his life.
He is survived by his wife, Lois Lundberg of LaHabra; daughters, Linda Lundberg of LaHabra and Sharon Lundberg Stramler of Anaheim; brother, Alfred Lundberg of Fullerton; sister, Gladys Carlson of Brainerd and by his granddaughters, Autumn and Anna Stramler of Anaheim.
