Donald Lee
Donald L. Lee, age 75, of Fergus Falls, MN, died October 22, 1998, at the Lake Region Hospital.
Funeral services were held October 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Fergus Falls with Reverend Mary Abrahamson officiating. Burial was in Oak Grove Cemetery.
Lillian Frey
Lillian Rose Frey, age 98, a resident of Edina, MN, recently of the Jones Harrison residence in Minneapolis, MN, died October 26, 1998.
Mass of Christian Burial was held at Our Lady of Grace Church, Edina, on October 29. Interment followed at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Minneapolis.
Survivors include her son, Roger Frey and wife Patricia of Scandia Valley Township, Lincoln, MN; grandchildren, Mary Pat Schmidt and husband John of Richfield, MN, Stephen Frey of Apple Valley, MN, Joseph Frey and wife Kathy of Annandale, MN, John Frey and wife Sherri of Richfield, MN; one great-granddaughter and eight great-grandsons.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Peter Frey, past president of Central Supply Co.; her parents, Frank and Bertha New and brothers, William and Clarence New.
Anthony Weatherly
Anthony Weatherly, age 13, of Foley, MN, died October 21, 1998, at his home.
Services were held October 26 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice, MN, with Rev. David Maciej officiating.
Anthony was born September 9, 1985, in Marshall, MN. He attended Rocori Schools in Cold Spring, MN, and, in sixth grade, moved to Foley and was currently a seventh grade student at Foley Intermediate School. He was an avid skateboarder and outdoor enthusiast. He was a member of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Rice. His never-ending smile will be missed. He loved everyone and was loved by all.
Survivors include his parents, Ericka and Michael Lentner of Foley; sister and brother, Alexandra and Scott Michael of Foley; grandparents, Corrine Lentner of Rice, Larry Weatherly of Columbia Heights, MN, and Alexandra Winslett of Silver City, NM, and great-grandparents, Ed and Clara Weatherly of Pipestone, MN.
Casketbearers were Josh and Jason Lentner, Zach Walder, Dave Hageman, Jim Schaefer, Matt Kritzeck and Jamie Gapinski.
Elizabeth Rastetter
Elizabeth “Betty” Rastetter, age 87, a resident of Pierz, MN, died October 23, 1998, at St. Mary’s Villa in Pierz.
Mass of Christian Burial was held October 27 at St. Mary’s Villa in Pierz with Father Ken Brenny officiating. Burial was in St. Joseph’s Catholic Church parish cemetery.
Elizabeth was born June 12, 1911, to Carl and Amalia (Fischer) Rastetter in Pierz. She was a lifelong resident of the Pierz area. In the 1940s, Betty worked as a cook in Tennessee. In 1955 she moved back to Pierz to care for her parents. She enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and cooking.
Survivors include brothers, Ben Rastetter of Pierz, Edward Rastetter of Hibbing, MN, and Leonard Rastetter and wife Dorothy of St. Cloud, MN, and sisters, Louise Bersch of St. Paul, MN, and Sally Schirmers of Pierz.
She was preceded in death by her parents; three sisters, Marie, Hildagard and Molly, and a brother, Joe.
Susan Virnig
Susan Marie Virnig, age 97,a resident of Pierz, MN, died October 22, 1998, at St. Mary’s Villa in Pierz.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held October 26 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz with the Rev. Kenneth Brenny officiating.Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
Susan M. Virnig was born May 14, 1901, in Pierz, Morrison County, to the late Theodore and Emma Thielen. She was united in marriage to Frank B. Virnig on October 3, 1922, at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lastrup, MN. The couple farmed in the Pierz area until 1972 at which time they moved into the City of Pierz. In 1987 Susan and Frank became residents of St. Mary’s Villa. Frank died June 15, 1989. Susan continued to live at St. Mary’s Villa, residing there until her death. She was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz.
Survivors include her sons, Frederick and wife, Anita of Blue Earth, MN, Chuck and wife Diana of Cupertino, CA; daughters, Julianne DuCharme of Little Canada, MN, Romona Farnworth of Buena Park, CA; daughter-in-law, Maxine Virnig of Blue Earth, MN; 18 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren and a sister, Lavina Halla.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; son, Melvin; parents; brothers, William, Phillip, Peter, Edward, Theodore and Eugene Thielen; sisters, Ann Preimesberger, Christine Kummet, Helen Lorenz and Emma Bauchmach; two sons-in-law and a great-grandchild.
Casketbearers will be Pat, Michael, Roderick and Bill Virnig, Dennis and Brian DuCharme.
Margaret Boser
Margaret Boser, age 86, a resident of Little Falls, MN, formerly of Lastrup, MN, died October 23, 1998, at her home in Little Falls.
Mass of Christian Burial was October 26 at St. John’s Catholic Church in Lastrup with Father Roger Thoennes officiating and Father Nick Landsberger and Father LeRoy Eichens con-celebrating. Burial was in the St. John’s Parish Cemetery.
Margaret was born January 28, 1912, to Andrew and Emma (Kipp) Duschner in Morgan, MN. Margaret was united in marriage to Edward Seppelt in 1931. They lived and farmed near Buckman, MN. He passed away in 1948. Margaret was united in marriage to Raymond Boser on June 20, 1950, and moved to Lastrup. They lived and farmed there until his death on October 5, 1979. She then moved to Little Falls to live with her daughter Bernie, until the present.Her hobbies included gardening, crocheting, playing musical instruments, watching birds, and collecting cat and mouse memorabilia. She enjoyed “surprising” people with her rubber mice. She baby-sat regularly for friends and grandchildren until health problems forced her to stop.
Survivors include sons, Robert Seppelt and wife Jenny of Buckman, Lester Seppelt and wife Romaine of Hillman, and Kenneth Seppelt and wife Doreen of Isanti, MN; daughters Mary Ella Thommes and husband Delroy of Little Falls, Margaret Benusa and husband Arnold of Bowlus, MN, and Bernadette Sorvari and husband Gerald of Little Falls; 16 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Edward, husband Raymond, brother John and sister Alice.
Casketbearers were her grandchildren. Honorary casketbearers were Joanna Boser, Marcella Boser, Mildred Voelker, Ceil Loidolt, Freida Kedrowski, and Linda Johnson.
Lloyd Johnson
Lloyd Robert Johnson, age 71, a resident of Cushing, MN, died October 16, 1998, near Wimbleton, ND.
Funeral services were held October 19 at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Randall, MN, with Father Patrick Riley officiating. Burial was in the Scandia Valley Cemetery.
Lloyd was born July 9, 1927, in St. Paul, MN, son of the late Carl J. and Evelyn M. (Milz) Johnson. He attended school at Patrick Henry High School. Lloyd was united in marriage to Carol E. Carlson on April 12, 1948, in the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Minneapolis, MN. Following their marriage, they continued to live in Minneapolis where Lloyd owned and operated Lloyd’s 66 Service Station until 1971. In 1971, they moved to their current residence on Lake Alexander, near Cushing. Lloyd owned and operated the Super America in Sauk Centre, MN, until 1976. He then became a realtor, and for the past 10 years has been the owner/broker of Rainbow Realty in Lincoln, MN. Lloyd was a member of the Lincoln Businessmen’s Association. Lloyd enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing.
Survivors include his wife, Carol; a son, Michael (Donna) Johnson of St. Cloud, MN; a grandson, Matthew Johnson of St. Cloud and a sister, Elaine Salsbury of St. Anthony, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Arthur and a sister, Lillian Hanson.
Honorary casketbearers were Richard Nelson, William Morrow, Thomas Ralph, Robert Myklebust, James Iverson, James Phillips and Roger Salsbury.
Janet Hillard
Janet Kay Hillard, age 44, a resident of Motley, MN, died October 16, 1998, at home.
Funeral services were held October 20 at the Brenny Funeral Home in Staples, MN, with Pastor Mark Batson officiating. Burial was in the Motley Public Cemetery.
Janet was born November 10, 1953, in Staples to Clarence and Marie (Collison) Allee. It was in the Staples and Motley areas that she grew up and attended schools. The past few years, she worked in customer service at Wal-Mart in Baxter, MN. Janet enjoyed reading, watching TV and listening to music.
Survivors include her three daughters, Angela Kasten of Motley, Melissa Hillard and Jennifer Hillard, both of Alexandria, MN; three grandchildren, Michael Kasten III, Clint Kasten and Jordan Hillard; her mother, Marie Allee of Motley; three sisters, Alice Erickson of Staples, Bonnie Smythe of St. Paul, MN, and Arlene Owen of Staples; two brothers, Arthur Allee of Verndale, MN, and Earl Allee of St. Paul, as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Justine Paige Hillard; her father; three sisters, Joyce, Betty and one infant sister and one brother, Jerry Allee.
Wilbur Stichter
Wilber Allen Stichter, age 66, a resident of Platte Lake, MN, died of cancer on October 17, 1998, at St. Joseph’s Medical Center in Brainerd, MN.
Mass of Christian Burial was held October 21 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Harding, MN, with Father Roger Thoennes officiating. Burial was in Holy Cross Parish Cemetery.
Wilber was born April 30, 1932, to Wilbur and Frances (Riche) Stichter in Irvington, NJ. He was united in marriage to Shirley Bednarek on September 1, 1955, in Jacksonville, FL. He worked for the Cranford Police Department in traffic maintenance until he retired in 1991. They then moved to Platte Lake in November of 1997. Wilbur was in the Union County Hall of Fame for bowling. He recently bowled in his 25th National Championship. He was also a lifetime member of the Flemington-Raritan Rod and Gun Club.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Platte Lake; sons, Brian Stichter and wife Angel of Princeton, MN, and Allen Stichter and wife Linda of Flemington, NJ; brothers, Richard Stichter and wife Maureen of Toms River, NJ, Gary Stichter and wife Shirley of Palm Coast, FL, and Ronald Stichter of Palm Coast; sister, Janet Brown and husband Don of Maplewood, NJ and three grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Casketbearers were Allen Stichter, Brian Stichter, Gary Stichter, Ron Stichter, Alvin Hoffman and Lyle Bednarek.
Delores Saehr
Delores Saehr, age 64, a resident of Pierz, MN, died October 20, 1998, at her residence.
Mass of Christian Burial was October 23, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Pierz with Father Ken Brenny officiating. Burial was at St. Joseph’s Parish Cemetery.
Delores was born March 20, 1934, to Matt and Barbara (Faust) Stuckmayer in Pierz. She worked at Munsingwear until her marriage to Donald Saehr on September 19, 1955. After their marriage, they farmed in Buh Township until retirement. Delores also worked part-time at Wal-Mart and was a member of Christian Mothers. She enjoyed being with her family, gardening, baking, crocheting, and loved meeting people at Wal-Mart.
Survivors include her husband Donald of Pierz; sons Dave Saehr and wife Tammy,Duane Saehr and wife Jackie, Dale Saehr and wife Laurie, and Darrel Saehr and wife Amy all of Pierz; eight grandchildren Stacie, Nick, Danny, Scott, Kelsey, Darvin, Randy, and Beth; sisters, Emma Hoffman of Pierz, Seraphine Loidolt of Pierz, MN, Jeanette Schlegel of Inver Grove Heights, MN, and Marilyn Flicker of South St. Paul; and brothers, Matt, Gerald, and Melvin Stuckmayer of Pierz; and Clarence Stuckmayer of Farmington, MN.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Mrs. Tony (Melvina) Lust.
Casketbearers were Tom Saehr, Steve Flicker, Marne Stuckmayer, Mike Stuckmayer, Tom Loidolt, Brian Stuckmayer, Gary Stuckmayer, and Earl Lust and Roger Gau.
Lector was Linda Johnson.
Giftbearers were Stacie, Danny, Nick, Scott, and Kelsey Saehr.
