Edward J. Brandl
Edward J. Brandl, age 87, a resident of St. Cloud, MN, died September 6, 1997, in the Good Shepherd Lutheran Home in Sauk Rapids, MN.
Funeral services were September 10 at St. Paul’s Catholic Church in St. Cloud with the Rev. Timothy Baltes officiating. Burial was in the Calvary Cemetery in St. Cloud.
Edward J. Brandl was born August 30, 1910, to John and Frances (Jansen) Brandl of Buckman, MN. He married Mercedes “Sadie” Hiemenz on September 7, 1936, at St. Mary’s Cathedral in St. Cloud. He was employed as a brakeman and conductor with the Great Northern Railroad, St. Cloud, for 33 years , retiring in 1975. He was a member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, St. Cloud, Eagles Aerie #622, St. Cloud, Golden Kiwanis, and the National Association of Railroad Veterans Employees.
Survivors include his wife; children, John of Afton, MN, Donald of York, PA, Judy Tembrock, Cupertino, CA, Gene, Apple Valley, MN, Edward “Gary”, St. Helena, CA; and, Suzanne Tefft, San Jose, CA; 16 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter; two brothers, Roman, St. Cloud; and, Alfred, Marshall, MN; and one sister, Florence Brandl, Bloomington, MN.
He was preceded in death by sisters, Adela Zenner and Leona Baron.
Pallbearers were grandchildren, Chris, Katherine, Jean, John, Peter, Amy, Laura and Jane Brandl
Daniel Nielsen
Funeral services for Daniel R. (Jim) Nielsen, age 73, a resident of Sauk Rapids, MN, were held September 11, 1997, at Atonement Lutheran Church, St. Cloud, with Rev. Gerald Staehling and Rev. Laurie Skow-Anderson officiating. Burial was in Graham United Methodist Cemetery, Rice, MN.
Daniel was born August 13, 1924, in Birchdale Township (Todd County), MN, to Chris M. and Anna (Sieger) Nielsen. He married Shirley L. Wildman on March 23, 1947, in Burtrum, MN. He had lived in the St. Cloud area since 1960. He was a heavy duty machine operator for Crystal Cruzen for 10 years, worked at Sauk Rapids Public Schools for five years and St. Cloud Technical College for five years. He was a member of Atonement Lutheran Church in St. Cloud.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley of Sauk Rapids; son and daughter-in-law, Daniel A. and Cindy Nielsen of Rice and grandchildren, Peter, Shannon and Jacob Nielsen of Rice. He was preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Helena McCann and Genevieve Eide.
Casketbearers were Peter and Jacob Nielsen, Bill McCann, Greg and Mike Frank and David and Randy Wildman.
Tianna Ylinen
Tianna Mariah Ylinen, infant daughter of Colin and Janice Ylinen, St. Cloud, MN, died September 8, 1997, at St. Cloud Hospital.
Funeral services were held September 11 at First Assembly of God Church in St. Cloud with Rev. Jerry Lewin officiating. Burial was in North Star Cemetery, St. Cloud.
Tianna Mariah Ylinen was born April 9, 1997, in St. Cloud to Colin J. and Janice (Marshik) Ylinen.
Survivors include her parents of St. Cloud; sisters, Miranda, Kayla and Katrina Ylinen of St. Cloud; grandparents, Colin F. and Patricia Ylinen, Brainerd, MN; Ervin and Clarice Marshik of Pierz, MN, and great-grandmother, Myrtle Ylinen of Brainerd.
Eileen Peters
Eileen J. Peters of Arvada, CO, died September 11, 1997, in Denver, CO.
Graveside services were held September 17 at Fort Logan National Cemetery in Denver.
Eileen was born on September 14, 1912, to Adolf and Eleanor M. (Stagermann) Anderson in St. Paul, MN. On July 2, 1937, she married Lloyd E. Peters in Minneapolis, MN. Mrs. Peters was a retail manager and business owner. She was a loving housewife, mother and friend.
Survivors include her son and daughter-in-law, Bill and Gloria of Lakewood, CO, and her sister, Alpha Edman, also of Lakewood.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lloyd Peters.
Patrick Kluetsch
Patrick J. “Pat” Kluetsch, age 50, a resident of Gwinn, MI, died August 24, 1997, at his home following a 16-month illness.
A memorial service was held August 27 at the Gwinn United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jackie Rae officiating. Interment was at the Gwinn Cemetery.
Patrick Kluetsch was born November 12, 1946, in Chicago Heights, IL, the son of John and Blanche (Nelson) Kluetsch. He was a graduate of Glenwood High School and Staples Vocational School. He was a 22-year veteran of the U.S. Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Gail; mother, Blanche Rasten of Glenwood, MN; son, Scott of Minneapolis, MN; daughters, Tami and Gwenn and sister and brother-in-law, Lois and Gary Hanson of New Brighton, MN.
He was preceded in death by his father, John Kluetsch.
Louis G. Forner
Louis G. Forner, age 82, a resident of Holdingford, MN died September 14, 1997, at the Mother of Mercy Nursing Home in Albany, MN.
Funeral services were held September 17 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford with Rev. Tony Oelrich officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Louis was born December 24, 1914, in St. Joseph, MN. He married Marie Harlander August 27, 1940, in St. Anna, MN. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford. He owned and operated Forner Garage in Holdingford. He was a motor grader operator for Holding Township for 40 years.
Survivors include his wife of Holdingford; brothers and sisters, Evelyn Philipsek of St. Cloud, MN, Irene Pyka of Royalton, MN, Geraldine Fenlasen of St. Stephen, MN, Arnold of Avon, MN and Ralph of St. Paul, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers and sisters: two infants, two brothers, Lloyd and Wilfred and one sister, Louise Rothstein.
Pallbearers were Kevin, Roger, Rickie and Steven Forner, Ralph and Kenny Harlander.
Frank A. Mensinger
Frank A. Mensinger, age 75, a resident of St. Stephen, MN, died September 13, 1997, at his home in St. Stephen.
Funeral services were September 16 at St. Stephen Catholic Church in St. Stephen with the Rev. John Miller officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Frank Mensinger was born January 14, 1922, in St. Stephen, MN, to Joseph and Rose (Supan) Mensinger. He married Elizabeth Douvier May 29, 1950, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Holdingford, MN. He was a member of St. Stephen Catholic Church, St. Stephen Men’s Society, St. Cloud Eagles Club, and the International Association of Machinists. He was a past member of the St. Stephen Fire Department. He farmed in the St. Stephen area all of his life. He also worked at Franklin Manufacturing until 1980.
Survivors include his wife of St. Stephen; sons and daughters, Edward of Louisburg, MN; Michael of Buffalo, MN; Leo of Woods of Annapolis, MD, and six grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her father.
Patsy Peterson
Patsy J. Peterson, age 50, a resident of Hillman, MN, died September 15, 1997, at United Hospital in St. Paul, MN.
Memorial services were held at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman on September 20 with Rev. Lynn Broughton officiating. Burial was in the Lone Pine Cemetery in Morrill, MN.
Patsy was born April 26, 1947, in St. Cloud, MN, to Andrew and Geraldine Carter. She grew up in the Hillman area and attended elementary school in Hillman and graduated from the Onamia High School in 1965. Patsy attended Brainerd Community College. After graduation from college, she worked for the Brainerd Chamber of Commerce. Patsy was united in marriage to John Peterson on June 18, 1966, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman. The couple moved to Brainerd, MN, for a few years and then returned to the Hillman area. Patsy worked for the Hillman Post Office for a number of years and then returned to the farm with her husband. Patsy enjoyed gardening, crocheting, knitting and all types of crafts. She also appreciated the outdoors. Patsy had a kind heart and was sensitive to the needs of others and willing to help when ever she was needed.
Survivors include her parents, Andrew and Geraldine Carter and wife Linda of Hillman and Randy Parker Township. Phillip served in the National Guard. He then lived in Morrison County where he drove milk truck and worked at other various jobs. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, visiting with people on his milk route, playing horseshoe, the outdoors and his family.
Survivors include his two children, Beau and Jennifer; his parents, Frank and Helen Kempenich of Randall; two sisters, Margaret (Bob) Voge of Minneapolis, Elizabeth (Corky) Erickson of Long Prairie, MN; a brother, Michael Kempenich-Wind of Walker, MN; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by two infant sisters and his grandparents.
