Gordon Ostrom
Gordon A. Ostrom, age 72, a resident of Little Falls, MN, died April 23, 1999, at his home in Little Falls.
Funeral services were held April 26 at Zion Lutheran Church in Little Falls with Rev. Martin Langemo officiating. Burial was in Oakland Cemetery in Little Falls, with military rites conducted by Little Falls VFW Post 1112.
Gordon was born November 25, 1926, in Forest Lake, MN, to the late Harold and Gladys Larson. He grew up in Minneapolis, MN. He was united in marriage to Patricia Statema on May 24, 1958, in Minneapolis. The couple made their home in Minneapolis, Rochester, MN, and in Little Falls since 1971. Gordon worked at Camp Ripley for 17 years. He enjoyed his family, hunting, fishing and woodworking. He was a member of Little Falls VFW Post 1112.
Survivors include his wife, Patricia Ostrom of Little Falls; sons, Bruce Hanson and wife Shirley of Crystal, MN, Brad Hanson and wife Colleen of Eagan, MN, and Jeff Ostrom of Jamestown, ND; daughters, Debby Heger and husband Stephen of Downing, WI, Melissa Whiting and husband Jay of Shakopee, MN, and Becky Gosiak and husband Joe of Otsego, MN; sister,Karen McCarthy of Little Falls; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Honorary pallbearers were David Williamsen and nieces and nephews.
Casketbearers were Terry McClain, Brian Dalen, Earl Williamsen, Gary Statema and Kevin Statema.
Mary Super
Mary Lorraine Super, age 92, a resident of Flensburg, MN, died April 22, 1999, at her residence.
Mass of Christian Burial was held April 26 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Flensburg with Father David Super officiating and Father Tony Kroll concelebrating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Mary was born January 9, 1907, in Benld, IL, to Mike and Anna (Zupko) Koval. Her family moved to a farm near Flensburg when she was a school girl. She married Simon J. Super of Flensburg on November 26, 1935. They lived there most of their lives with Simon operating the Flensburg Hardware Store and serving as postmaster. Mary was a homemaker.
Survivors include her husband, Simon of Flensburg; son, Arlin and wife Marcia of Lakewood, CO; grandchildren, Sheryl Super and Dan Super, both of Lakewood; two great-granddaughters, Jessie and Julia Super and sister, Anna Super of Flensburg.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Mike and Anna Koval and brother John Koval.
Gerald J. Suess
Gerald J. Suess, age 65, a resident of Hillman, MN, died April 27, 1999, at his home near Hillman in Lee Township, Morrison County, MN.
Funeral services were held on May 1 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman.
Gerald J. Suess was born July 14, 1933 in Buckman, MN, to the late George and Rose (Herung) Suess. He grew up and attended school in Buckman. Following his schooling, Gerald worked for 40 years at NAPCO in Hopkins, MN, until retiring in 1995. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hillman. He was a drummer, enjoyed hunting, fishing, four-wheeling, playing cards and gardening.
Survivors include sons and daughters, Larry of Buffalo, MN, Jeff and wife Pamela of St. Louis Park, MN, Mary Kay Johnson of Minneapolis, MN, Terry Brausen and financé Bob Dean and Renee Norsten all of Cambridge, MN; brother, Leander Suess of Anoka, MN; sisters, Alvina Knopik and husband George of Little Falls, MN, and Esther Poser of Pierz, MN; companion Diane Sanborn of Hillman; special children, Lisa Poser and husband Brian of Pierz, MN and Gene Sanborn of Hillman; 11 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son Gary Suess in 1974; brother, George Suess, Jr.; sister Betty Jutz and grandchildren, Jessica Brausen and Jeff Mark Suess, Jr.
Casketbearers were Ralph and Robin Boros, Robert Suess, Richie Held, Ernie Poser and Bill Sullivan.
Mary Ella Wilken
Mary Ella Wilken, age 81, a resident of Onamia, MN, died April 25, 1999, at the Mille Lacs Hospital in Onamia.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 28 at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Onamia with Rev. Raymond Steffes officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
Mary Ella was born on July 1, 1917, in Princeton, MN, to the late Frank and Margaret (Trabant) Albrecht. In 1921, the family moved to Mudgett Township where she attended country school District #19. She married J. Ross Wilken on October 15, 1941, at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Onamia. The couple farmed in Dailey Township, South of Onamia. She also worked at Cohen-Fellman coat manufacturing for several years. She enjoyed sewing and crocheting. Mary was also a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church and a member of the St. Anne’s Society.
Survivors include her son, Bob and wife Ann Wilken of Onamia; brother Joseph Albrecht of Onamia; two grandchildren, Kevin Wilken of Onamia and Tim and wife Dina Tabbert of Pequot Lakes, MN; a great-grandchild, Lexi Jo Tabbert; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Ross Wilken in 1972; daughter Diane Tabbert and son-in-law Bill Tabbert; parents Frank and Margaret Albrecht; infant brother Andrew Albrecht; sisters, Agnes Albrecht, Gertrude Beck, and Ruth Lueck.
John A. ‘Jack’ Dulude
John A. “Jack” Dulude, age 83, a resident of Plymouth, MN, passed away April 29, 1999.
A memorial service will be held May 2 at 1 p.m. with visitation with the family one hour prior at the Cremation Society of MN, 7110 France Avenue S., Edina. Memo-rials are preferred to the American Heart Association.
Dulude was the Superintendent of Schools in Swanville, MN and the Business Administrator at Little Falls Public Schools.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Margaret; children, Robert (Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery.
She was born on December 24, 1925, to Alfred and Eva (Young) Richner east of Little Falls, MN. She grew up on the family farm northeast of Little Falls and attended the country school there. As a young girl, she worked at St. Gabriel’s Hospital in Little Falls and later at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Brainerd. While working at her sister’s restaurant in Tillamook, OR, she met and later wed Adron (Chuck) Garretson on October 30, 1944. The couple raised their five children in Richfield, MN. Chuck and MaryLou have made their home in Little Falls since 1986. MaryLou was a member of the V.F.W. Women’s Auxiliary and enjoyed the functions there. She also enjoyed cooking for her family, reading, dancing, and playing card games. MaryLou loved sewing, tending to the houseplants and collecting owls.
Survivors include her husband Chuck Garretson of Little Falls, MN; sons, Butch Garretson and wife Barbara of Richfield, MN and Wayne Garretson and wife Patty of Savage, MN; daughters, Barb Carlson and husband Loren of Little Falls, Carol DeCroix and husband Alain of Paris, France, Kathy Hutchins and husband Ed of Spokane, WA, and Wanda Smith and husband Luther of Nellis, Preston and Martha (Hohensee) Caughey. He grew up in Brainerd and graduated from OH; five grandchildren, Theresa, Mark Sue Ann, Megan and Sarah; two great-grandchildren, Jeremiah and Sarah; three brothers, Norman and wife Betty of Brainerd, MN; Francis and wife Evelyn of Minneapolis, MN, Bill and wife Alice of Brainerd, MN; four sisters, Kathleen (Milo) Buehler of Fort Ripley, MN, Marion Siegel and Lois (Marvin) Siegel both from Brainerd, MN, Bonnie (Lynn) Olson of Alexandria, MN, and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister Marjorie and one brother-in-law, LeRoy Siegel.
