Kenneth Hayes
Kenneth Franklin Hayes, age 73, a resident of Pierz, MN, died March 1, 1999, at his home in Platte Township, Morrison County, MN.
Funeral services were held March 4 at the Shelley Funeral Chapel in Little Falls, MN, with the Rev. Jan Boseman officiating. Burial was in the Minnesota Deer Hunters Association, Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association and was a current member of the Minnesota during the summer months. She was a member of the Swanville Bible Church in Swanville.
Survivors include her sisters, Hilma Ganz of Swanville and Florence Palm of Swanville; and, many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Charles and Carrie (Johnson) Palm; and brothers and sisters, Ellen Swanson, Anne Palm, Carl Palm, Esther Thelander, Emma Schuster, Albert Palm, Ida O’Dell, Hulda Koenig and Leonard Palm.
Clarence R. Brenny
Clarence R. (Chief) Brenny, age 78, a Carroll, IA, passed away April 19, 1999, at Carroll.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 22 at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll with Fathers Kenneth Brenny, James McCormick, Allan Reicks, Merlin Schrad and Peter Duc Nguyen con-celebrating. Burial was at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.
Clarence was born July 8, 1920, in Holdingford, MN, to Charles and Agnes (Katzmarek) Brenny. He served six years during World War II in the Navy. He married Irene Reicks on May 13, 1946, at St. Peter and Paul’s Church in Carroll. For 37 years, he owned and operated Brenny’s Market. During the ’70s he also operated the Carroll Warehouse Market. He was a member of Holy Spirit parish and the Men’s Club, the Knights of Columbus, the New Hope Volunteers, the Legion of Mary, the city council, andwas a Mayor Protem.
Survivors include children: Mary Clare Vaughn and husband Ed of Bellevue, NE, Mark Brenny and wife Norah of Bettendorf, IA, Mike Brenny and wife Gail-Marie of Annapolis, MD, Ann Fitzpatrick and husband Tim of Carroll, John Brenny and wife Dianna of Coal Valley, IL and James Forbes and husband Scott of Coralville, IA; and brother Fr. Kenneth Brenny of Pierz; five grandchildren and two step-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Irene Brenny (1982); brothers, Stanley, Clem, Allan and Roy Brenny; sisters, Eleanor and Connie.
Pallbearers were a niece and nephews, Jim Reicks, Gary Reicks, Dick Loneman, Richard Brenny, Bob Brenny and Julie Pretti; gift bearers were (grandchildren) Mark Brenny, Brad Brenny, Katie Fitzpatrick, Kelly Fitzpatrick and Adrianna Brenny.
Lectors were Fr. Allan Reicks, Fr. Peter Duc Nguyen, Mike Brenny and Tim Fitzpatrick.
Delphine Hagstrom
Delphine Hagstrom, age 84, a resident of Upsala, MN, died April 1, 1999, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls, MN.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held April 5 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Upsala with Father Greg Mastey officiating. Burial was at the Minnesota State Veterans Cemtery near Little Falls.
Norbert was born March 9, 1917, in Frazee, MN, to the late Casper and Mary (Prem) Junglen. His family moved to St. Cloud where he grew up. Norbert attended and graduated from Cathedral High School in St. Cloud. Following his schooling, he worked for the Nash Finch Company. He entered the United States Army and received an honorable discharge. He returned to St. Cloud and went to bakers school under the GI Bill. He was united in marriage to Delphine L. Hohmann on June 8, 1943. In 1950, the couple moved to Clarion where he worked with his brother-in-law in the bakery business. He later owned and operated several gas service stations in Clarion. In 1997, the couple moved to St. Cloud and, in 1998, to Little Falls. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Little Falls and was a 4th Degree Knight. Norbert enjoyed golfing, fishing, playing cards, bowling, the Lions Club and other civic organizations he was involved in while living in Clarion.
Survivors include his wife, Delphine; daughters, Mary Uhlhorn and Susan Junglen, both of Little Falls; grandchildren, Joe Uhlhorn of Little Falls and Beth Uhlhorn of Minneapolis, MN; brother, Marcell “Marc” and wife Martha of Cuyahoga Falls, OH; sisters, Dorothy Froyen of Clarion, Eleanor Schoenecker of Cold Spring, MN, Margaret St. Aubin of Minneapolis, Donna Eickhoff of St. Cloud and Bernyce Johnson and husband Dewey of Austin, MN.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Charles, William, Bernard and Albert Junglen; sisters, Clothilda Schoener, Elizabeth Monrean, Irene Sweet and an infant sister, Clothilda Elizabeth and a son-in-law, Howard Uhlhorn in 1998.
Casketbearers were John Gohman, Robert Pikus, Rick Baron, Dick Wieber, Michael Schoenecker, Ton St. Aubin and Mike St. Aubin.
