Lois Pulkrabek, 91, of East Grand Forks, North Dakota.
Lois Pulkrabek was born on August 24, 1914 in Long Prairie, Minnesota. They lived in Maynard, Red Lake Falls, Minnesota before moving to Keystone Township of rural East Grand Forks, where they farmed for 25 years. During their farming career, she was a homemaker, and worked in the fields with Ted. Lois was a member of Mendenhall Presbyterian Church, Key West Homemaker’s Club, The Sew & Sew Club. During the decade of the 1980’s, Lois went to Lapidary School in Texas and Yuma, Minnesota. Lois lived for 8 years at the Parkwood Place then moved to Edgewood Vista for 4 years, before moving to the Valley Eldercare Center in September of 2005.
Family members of Lois include her children; Erroll J. Pulkrabek of Astoria, Minnesota, Denise (Roger) Oppegaard of Grand Forks, Minnesota, 12 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Lois is preceded in death by her parents, sisters; June and Hazel, brothers; Don, Clinton and Floyd Howes.

Reynoldo M. Arriaga, 82, of East Grand Forks, North Dakota. Reynaldo Arriaga was born December 27, 1923 in Luling, Texas. He married Erminia Prado on January 8, 1946 in Tahoka, Florida in 1962 and then in 1976 they moved to Grafton, Minnesota, MaryJane (Carlos) Martinez of East Grand Forks, TX, and Guadalupe (Luis) Flores of East Grand Forks, Minnesota and Reynaldo (Villa) Arriaga Jr., of Naples, Minnesota.
Visitation: 1-2:30 with a 1:00 P.M. Rosary at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, East Grand Forks, Minnesota died Friday, July 4, 2003 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston, Texas and was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Edward.
Services: 4:00 PM Tuesday, July 8, 2003 at the Cathedral of The Immaculate Conception in Crookston, Minnesota.
Arrangements by Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, California, and a Crookston, Minnesota, died early Saturday morning, October 28, 2006, in the Riverview Hospital in Crookston. Butch was born at Terrebone, Minnesota, was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, and attended school in Red Lake Falls. Butch enlisted in the US Army on November 19, 1942 and served overseas during WWII. Following his honorable discharge on February 27, 1946 he returned to Red Lake Falls. A few months later, on June 11th, he was united in marriage to Elizabeth Esther “Betty” Bushy at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston. The couple made their home in Crookston and together raised a daughter, Kathleen. Butch drove a delivery truck for the Nash-Finch Company until going to work for the City of Crookston in 1951. He eventually became the Superintendent of the Parks and Recreation Department, a position he held until retirement in 1984, after thirty-three years of dedicated service. In semi-retirement he drove a bus for the Tri-Valley Senior Citizens program for about two and one-half years. Butch and Betty were tireless volunteers, giving much of their time to church and community, including Mount St. Benedict and the Golden Link Senior Citizens Center. Very sadly, Betty passed away on June 20, 1995. For the past year Butch had been making his home in the Summit Apartments of the Villa St. Vincent complex. He was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish, Crookston American Legion Post #20, and Eagles Aerie #873. Butch will be very lovingly remembered and sadly missed by his family and many friends. May God bless his memory.
Family members include a daughter and son-in-law, Kathleen Cardinal and Richard Helland of Moorhead, MN; three grandchildren, Danette (Dan) Nicoloff of Fargo, ND, Ryan Graham of Miami, FL and Coreen Graham of Dilworth, MN; a step-granddaughter, Kerry Helland of Moorhead; four great-grandchildren, Austin Graham, Raquel Larson, and Layla and Alana Nicoloff,; a brother, Elmer Cardinal of Red Lake Falls, MN; three sisters, Lou Theroux of Vancouver, WA, Ethel Herrenbruck of Albany, CA, and Noella Melbye of Crookston; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Besides his beloved wife, Betty, Butch was preceded in death by his parents, Art and Alice; five brothers, Art, Phil, Ernie, George, and Paul Cardinal; two sisters, Eleanor Derouin and Alice Delage, and two infant sisters.
The funeral service for Norman “Butch” Cardinal will be held at 10:00AM, Saturday, November 4, 2006, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston with the Rev. Tim Bushy, presiding. Visitation will be in the Chapel of the Mount St. Benedict Convent on Friday from 5-7PM, with a 7PM prayer service, and at the Cathedral for one hour before the funeral. Military Honors will be provided by the Crookston Veterans Council. Interment will be in the Calvary Cemetery in Crookston. Arrangements are with the Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home.
