Arnold E. Gulsvig
Arnold E. Gulsvig, 82, of Fisher, died Saturday, April 5, 2003 at the Valley Eldercare Center, Grand Forks.
The funeral service will take place Wednesday, April 9, at 10:30 a.m., at the Fisher Lutheran Church, Fisher. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. with a 6:30 p.m. prayer service, Tuesday, April 8, at the Stennes Funeral Home, East Grand Forks, and one hour before services at the church. The burial will take place at Fisher Lutheran Cemetery, Fisher.
Arnold Guslvig was born Nov. 18, 1920 in Crookston. He grew up in Plummer where he graduated from Plummer High School. He farmed in the rural Plummer area until his marriage to Myra Fladhammer on April 12, 1943 in Erskine. They continued to farm in the Plummer and Erskine area until they moved to the Fisher area in 1950 where he worked for Pester Farms. He worked as a foreman in the construction of the American Crystal Sugar Company plant in Crookston, in 1953-54. In 1955 he started working for the Fisher Public School as a custodian until his retirement in 1983. After his retirement in 1983 he continued to drive school buses for sports events until 1993. He enjoyed watching all sports where the Fisher Knights played.
He will be lovingly missed by his daughter Darlene (James) Jerde of Crookston, and sons Neil (Jan) Gulsvig, of Mosinee, Wis., Wayne (Lorraine) Gulsvig of Omaha, Neb., and Mike Skiple of Grand Forks, six grandchildren Brenda Boman, Chris Gulsvig, Justin Jerde, Rissa Gulsvig, Reid Gulsvig and Rogan Gulsvig, four great grandchildren Josh Stuckey, Jace Boman, Jenna Boman & Jess Boman, two sisters, Corann Fladhammer of Mentor, Mildred Phillips of San Francisco, Tennessee before returning in May because of her illness.
She is survived by her son, Jeff of Hibbing, four sisters, Linda (Dennis) Gilbertson, Warroad, MN, Gail (Craig) Miller, Warroad, Sherie (Ben) Griffiths, Hibbing, and Paula Brown, Hibbing, three brothers, John Florek, Jr., Hibbing, Alan Moen, Princeton, MN, and Aaron Cook, Princeton, MN, special friend, Bill Kimball and many nieces and nephews.

Lester Dahlen
Lester Dahlen, 90, former owner and operator of White's Purity Dairy and former chairman of the board of directors of Trinity Medical Center, died Sunday, January 20, in Northern Dutchess Hospital, Rhinebeck, Texas.
Cheryl was born Sept. 5, 1948 and was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran Faith at Our Savior's Lutheran Church in Crookston. She played first chair violin for the Crookston Central High School Orchestra.
After graduation, Cheryl worked for the FBI in Texas. During the following years she took on hobbies that included singing, painting, gardening, and above all, helping the less fortunate. While enjoying these activities she met and then married Paul Wehrly. Cheryl retired from Southwestern Bell in April of 1999.
Survivors include her husband, Paul, of Lubbock, her son, Todd Barber of Moorhead, daughter Angela Barber of Lubbock, step-daughter, Stephanie Wehrly of Lubbock, Cheryl's father, Hugh Swift, Sr. of Big Lake, Minn., her mother, Eleanore Swift of Crookston, stepchildren Sarah (Clint) Trowbridge, Sean, Aaron, Paul II, and Tonya; five brothers, Hugh Swift, Jr. of Farmington, Minn., Ernest Swift of Atlanta, Ga., James Swift of Loveland, Ohio, and Thomas Swift of Aurora, Texas, 74923.
