Elroy Salvhus
Elroy Salvhus, 64, of Crookston died late Monday evening, April 9, 2001 at Riverview Hospital in Crookston.
A graveside service will be held at a later date.
Elroy was born on Sept. 25, 1936, the son of Osmund and Hilda (Dahl) Salvhus. He grew up and attended school in the Clearbrook, Minn. area. Elroy later moved to East Grand Forks, Minn. and worked for area farmers for several years. He then began his employment at the Old Dutch Potato Chip Factory in East Grand Forks where he worked for many years.
Elroy is survived by a sister, Mavis Schledewitz of Sydney, Mont.; four brothers and three sisters-in-law, Willie and Helene Salvhus of Bagley, Minn., Duane and Nancy Salvhus of Chester, MA, Norman and Evelyn Salvhus of Cloquet, Minn., and Clayton Salvhus of Erskine, Minn.; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Salvhus of East Grand forks, Minn.; and many nieces, nephews, and other relatives.
Elroy was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Orlean, Kenneth, and Gerald; and a sister, Bernice Riley.
John S. Schmit
John Stephen "Jack" Schmit of Lindstrom, 97, died Wednesday, April 4, at Fairview-Lakes Hospital.
Funeral services were celebrated by Fr. Charles Brambilla on Friday, April 6, at St. Bridget of Sweden Church in Lindstrom. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery.
Jack was born December 5, 1903, at Crookston to John and Genevieve Schmit. He graduated as Salutatorian with the Class of 1921 at Cathedral High School in Crookston. He graduated in 1933 with a degree in engineering from the University of Minnesota Association of Professional Engineers. He was a member of the Chisago County Planning Commission, the Elks Club, a charter member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles, Hallock, Minn. where he was a member for over 50 years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus for 80 years.
He was awarded the distinction of being listed in the Community Leaders of America (permanent record in the Library of Congress and the Minnesota. He did special research work in his profession. Jack served as chairman of the National, Washington twice to testify before Congress on flood control for the counties along the Red River in Northern Minnesota, died at his home early Friday morning, June 27, 2003, with his wife, Bernice, at his side. Joe was born at McIntosh, Wisconsin and then to Hillsboro, Calif., and formerly of Crookston, died Sunday, Feb. 3, 2002, at the care facility in Windsor, where she had been residing for the past few years.

Meredith Leigh Reynolds, 20, of Crookston, died late Wednesday afternoon, Feb. 6, 2002, from injuries received in an automobile accident that took place eight miles north of Ada.
Sister Rosaria (Florence) Richards
Sister Rosaria (Florence) Richards, 89, died Wednesday evening, Feb. 6, in Mount St. Benedict Health Center where she has resided since March 1984.
Millie Arness
Millie Arness, 86, of Palisade, Minn., died Friday, June 15, at her home.
Funeral services will be at Sorensen-Root-Texas, Corrine Greeley of Bloomington, Sandra Anderson of Bremerton, Wash., June Patterson of Hudson, Wisc., Joan Sherlock of Manvel, N.D., five sons, Jerry of Blaine, Minn., Gary of Palisade, Bobby of Secour, Ala., John of Aitkin, and Greg of Pueblo, Colo., 31 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren, 5 sisters, Agnes Stenson and Mae Gudvanger, both of Grand Forks, N.D., Florence Baker of Lake Park, Minn., Helen Wagner of Palisade and Esther Gudvanger of Bloomington, Minn.,
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jens, children Jeanettte, Marilyn, Bonnie, Alice, and Shirley.

Agnes Nornes Aanden, 97, of Beltrami and Fertile, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2002,at Fair Meadow Nursing Home, Fertile, from complications of injuries following a fall on May 11.
