Vern Eli Radke Sr.
Vern Eli Radke Sr., 76, of Grand Rapids died Sunday, July 6, at his home.
He was born July 15, 1926, to Eli and Carrie (Morlan) Radke in Crookston, Minn., where he grew up and attended school. Vern was united in marriage to Maxine Chadwick on Sept. 18, 1948, at has been a resident of Grand Rapids for over 50 years. He retired from the Grand Rapids Public Utilities, Waste Treatment Plant.
Vern was currently the presiding commander of Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 13, for the third time. He was a lifetime member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the American Legion, a volunteer driver for Meals on Wheels, and a former member of the Grand Rapids Planning Commission. Vern was a World War II and Korean War veteran.
He loved hunting, fishing and baseball, and was a season ticket holder for the Arizona. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Visitation will be Monday, July 14, 2003, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Rowe Funeral Home of Grand Rapids, Minn.
The funeral service will be Tuesday, July 15, 2003, at 11 a.m. at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Cohasset, Minn. The Rev. William C. Zeige will officiate.
Burial will be in Itasca-Calvary Cemetery in Grand Rapids, Minn.
Marcella Theresa Lanctot
Marcella Theresa Lanctot, 75, of Crookston, Minnesota, was baptized and confirmed in the Catholic faith, and graduated from St. Joseph's Academy in Crookston in 1947. She was united in marriage to James R. Lanctot at Crookston on August 13, 1947. The couple lived and farmed in Kertsonville Township, near Crookston, before moving into the city in 1980. Marcella did housekeeping in private homes and then for several years was employed by the housekeeping departments of the Villa St. Vincent Nursing Home and Riverview Hospital. In 1986 she began working as a certified program assistant for the Polk County Group Homes and later for Lutheran Social Services. She retired in 1994. James passed away on March 13, 1990. Marcella had a talent for sewing, and enjoyed tending her flower and vegetable gardens. She was an avid reader and also liked watching her favorite television programs. She loved to bake, and visiting grandkids always got a cookie and a sympathetic ear. Her understanding and unconditional love earned her a reputation as a "cool, with-it" grandma. Marcella was a member of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception parish.
Loving family members include four sons and two daughters-in-law, Mike and Shereen Lanctot of St. Augusta, MN, Rodney Lanctot and Steve Lanctot, both of Crookston, MN, and Tom and Glenda Lanctot of Hallock, MN; six daughters and two sons-in-law, Julie Lanctot of Hallock, Janna Lanctot of Valley City, ND, Lisa and Vern Gustafson of Mentor, MN, Sandy Newquist of Crookston, Tracy Lanctot of Jamestown, ND, and Kelly and Brian McWaters of Wahpeton, ND; a daughter-in-law, Sharon Lanctot of Crookston; sixteen granddaughters; sixteen grandsons; eight great-granddaughters; and five great-grandsons. Also left to mourn her passing are a brother and sister-in-law, Elmer and Viola Ricard of Crookston; four sisters and two brothers-in-law, Norma and Curtis Hoppe of Crookston, Audrey Ricard of Ah-Gwah-Ching, MN, Loretta Chisholm of Moorhead, MN, and Ardelle and George VonTiesenhausen of Huntsville, AL; two sisters-in-law, Audrey Ricard of South Milwaukee, WI, and Jan Ricard of Grand Forks, ND; and several nieces, nephews, and other relatives. Besides her husband, James, Marcella was preceded in death by a son, Robert Lanctot; a grandson, Joshua Lanctot; her parents; and two brothers, Lester and Vernon Ricard.
The funeral service for Marcella Theresa Lanctot will be held at 10:30AM, Thursday, July 3, 2003, at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston with the Rev. David Super, presiding. Visitation will be at the Cathedral on Wednesday from 5-7PM, with a 7PM prayer service, and also for an hour before the funeral. Interment will be at St. Peter's Cemetery in Gentilly, Minnesota, passed away on Wednesday, March 17, 2010. Born April 14, 1988, Kyle was the youngest of Ronald and Linda (Desrosier) Lanctot’s four children. He was baptized, confirmed, and served as an altar boy in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception. He competed for the Pirates on the golf team and graduated from Crookston Central High School in 2006. Kyle was a dedicated worker at Dahlgren’s and on the family farm where he began working at a young age and continued to help out whenever needed. Always the avid sports and outdoor enthusiast, he played golf whenever time permitted, faithfully followed the Minnesota Twins and Vikings, and enjoyed ice fishing and hunting ducks and deer with family and friends. Kyle became a proud father to his son, Skyler James, on July 22, 2009. Kyle was a devoted father and enjoyed his time with Skyler. Kyle will be very lovingly remembered and sadly missed as a father, son, brother, grandson, uncle, nephew, cousin, and friend.
Grateful to have shared in his life are his parents, Ron and Linda Lanctot of Crookston; son, Skyler James Berg and his mother Kayleigh Berg, of Crookston; sisters, Tasha (Chad) Murdoff and their sons, Brady and Connor, of Andover, MN and Heidi (Scott) Swanson of Crookston; brother, Danny Lanctot of Crookston; grandparents, Joseph and Nancy Lanctot of Crookston; and countless aunts, uncles, cousins, and other relatives. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred and Doris Desrosier; and uncles, Doug Lanctot, Dave Horgeshimer, Dale Sylvester, Harold Elmer, and Richard Mohs. May God bless the memory of Kyle Joseph Lanctot.
The funeral service for Kyle Lanctot will be held at 2:00 pm, Wednesday, March 24, 2010, in the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception in Crookston with The Very Rev. Bob Schreiner, presiding. Visitation with the family will be at the Cathedral on Tuesday from 5-7:00 pm, with a 7:00 pm prayer service, and at the church for one hour prior to the funeral. Inurnment will be in the Calvary Cemetery, Crookston. The Stenshoel-Houske Funeral Home is assisting with funeral arrangements.
