"Few To Fill Their Spot"

The Phone rings in the night,
His day will there begin.
He will work a lot of hours,
Before his day will end.
Often not appreciate,
A lot done behind the scenes.
The family is coming in now,
With broken hearts and dreams.
Though tears are often left there,
While families endure such pain.
Some many times he would like to cry,
But too often does refrain.
The things he carries with him,
No one could ever know.
He usually hides his feelings,
For weakness it might show.
You see, this man is a funeral director,
And in his eyes I see,
The years of dealing with death,
Has taken its toll on thee.
He loves to please the families,
God has entrusted to his care.
And when the families need him most,
He tries to always be there.
The Funeral Director’s life,
Isn’t as pleasant as it seems.
He deals with what we hope not too,
Each day when sunlight beams,
I love this Funeral Director,
For he does what most would not.
So try to remember to give him thanks,
‘Cause there are few to fill his spot.
